Where to buy LEGO locally?

Now that you have discovered the magic of building with LEGO, where can you find those shiny and colorful bricks? Where can you buy LEGO locally?

BUYING NEW LEGO:

If you are looking for brand new LEGO sets, you can buy LEGO off the shelves of several department stores. Here is a list of some well-known stores with LEGO as a regular staple item:

  • Toys’R’Us:  has the largest selection of LEGO, but their prices tend to be higher then anyone else. Look for their fairly regular sales!
  • Target:  large selection and better prices!
  • Wal-Mart: pretty good selection and better prices!
  • K-Mart: small selection, but you may find close-out deals at great prices.
  • LEGO-brand stores: don’t forget about LEGO’s own stores! That is; if you are lucky enough to have one in your own town. They are worth a visit! You can find a list of LEGO stores here: LEGO Store Locator
  • You may also want to check out smaller, local toy stores, or even other stores with a toy-selection. For example some bookstores like Barnes & Noble are known to carry LEGO.
  • Also, if you are a member of a discount warehouse-store like Sam’s Club, check out their seasonal shelves before major holidays.

BUYING USED LEGO:

If you are considering buying used LEGO to start building your stock, you may try your luck at garage-sales and second-hand stores. I only recommend this around neighborhoods where there is a LEGO store nearby, and families tend to buy LEGO for their children. Otherwise you may end up searching for a long time before finding anything. 🙁

Good luck hunting! 🙂

We live near three lego stores. I never actualy realized how lucky we are until I read this post! Garage sales in our neighborhood are flooded with lego! I have no problem getting it second-hand. I guess we are majorly spoiled!

Our Kmart doesn’t have a very good selection, but Walmart and Target are great! Also, both of them have regular sales that are pretty decent. I would also suggest checking the damaged items and closeout section. I almost always find legos there.

Good suggestion about the close-out section! I forgot about that! 😀

A good source for LEGO minifigs and sets is http://www.minifigbay.com although I would suggest you read this year’s Brick Report https://thebrickreport.wordpress.com/ for a list and review of different online LEGO stores.

For UK and European buyers minifigbay may be a good resource. I would still compare it with BrickLink stores in the region as they usually have a significantly larger inventory and it is also worth to compare prices. It just depends on what you are looking for. 😉

My closest LEGO store is an one hour drive away which is decent enough for a LEGO brand store but I don’t go there very often. I usually get my LEGO at a local store that has pretty good deals(8096 Emperor Palpatine’s Shuttle at 33% off 🙂 )

Wiscobricks Toys has moved to 1122 S. Airline Rd. Suite 105 Mount Pleasant, WI, 53406. They are now in their own location, with a great selection of new and used LEGO minifigures and sets. They also have a great bulk table. They are reasonably priced compared to other LEGO sellers.
