2012 LEGO sets: LEGO DINO pictures!

Are you impatiently and curiously waiting to see what 2012 will bring in the world of LEGO? In this series of posts I give you a glimpse of some of the upcoming 2012 LEGO sets.

You might first want to check out 2012 LEGO Sets – See What’s Coming! That post will give you an overall picture of the 2012 LEGO sets. From there you can link to the particular themes you are interested in.

In this post I will list all of the sets in the LEGO DINO theme, a resurrection of the LEGO Dino Attack line from a few years back where LEGO minifigs in rugged vehicles were fighting off lizard-like creatures in psychedelic colors. 🙄

That is one thing LEGO definitely improved in the new LEGO DINO sets; the realism of the Jurassic creatures themselves. There are also more sets in LEGO DINO – including a quite large one – and the vehicles have also been improved. (Although I’m not sure I like the bright-yellow; I thought the tan-maroon color-scheme in LEGO Dino Attack was nicer. But that’s just my opinion.)

So, let’s look at the 2012 LEGO DINO sets. Please note that the quoted prices are estimates based on the pre-order sale prices that were listed (and later taken down) from the Barnes & Noble website. (Read: Barnes & Noble Pre-Order Sale). Also, you can click on any of the pictures for a larger view.

#5882 LEGO DINO Ambush Attack – estimated price: $10

#5883 LEGO DINO Tower Takedown – estimated price: $20

#5884 LEGO DINO Raptor Chase – estimated price: $30

So what do you think about the 2012 LEGO DINO line? Yay or nay? 🙂

Awesome! I always wanted the dino attack sets when they came out (especially the cool milatary looking minifigs) and now more Lego dinos, yay!
That dino defense looks Sweet! These set’s have a very big jurrasic park feel to them, maybe because of the released blu-ray jurrasic park series? I wonder…

Love the dino’s, don’t really like the color use (light yellow?)

I am very much “Yay” on this line. I had liked the dinosaur sets that came out around the time of Jurassic Park III, but was solely focused on the Star Wars line at the time. I didn’t care much for the Dino Attack line, to be honest. I felt the colors were too out there and the design of the dinosaurs a bit too stylized for my taste. In these the T-rex and the raptors look especially good, but another thing that really caught my eye … tranquilizer guns!

Nice eye YTjedi! I hadn’t even seen those guns that they had!

Watch out, Spencer! Those dinos have a hypnotic effect on their prey!

yeah they are so AWESOME! but i agree with you why yellow why not green or something else?

Perhaps yellow as a brighter colors is more popular with kids. I’m not sure. I like the tiger-stripes though! 😉

I love the new dinos but not the yellow colors and i think that they should get rid of lego atlantis and bring back dino attack.

    • Ty November 14, 2011, 6:10 PM

      i mean yellow

      • admin November 14, 2011, 6:26 PM

No problem, Ty, I fixed it for ya! 😉

    • admin November 14, 2011, 6:26 PM

Ty, looks like you are a big Fan of Dino Attack! Even though you don’t like the new yellow color (I think it is pretty lame too), you might still like some of the sets. Some of the vehicles are pretty cool. Also the dinos themselves are much better than in Dino Attack. 😉

I really like these. Out the four existing lines of lego dinos, i think these are the most impressive. The last time we saw good lego dinosaurs was in the johnny thunder dino island sets. Also, i think the yellow color is there because yellow color schemes are often seen in many in dinosaurs movies, i kinda like it, though some whites and steel grays would be nice.

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!Cool sets!I do agree that they could have done better with the yellow although it isn’t that bad if you ask me.The vehicles are awesome!I am definitely aiming to get these!!!
