LEGO Monster Fighters Zombies now available!

There is one LEGO Monster Fighters set we haven’t talked about yet; the #9465 LEGO Monster Fighters Zombies. It came out laterย then the first wave of Monster Fighters, so some of you may have missed it. Here is a picture of the box:

The LEGO Monster Fighters Zombies set comes with three zombies, Jack McHammer (the hero) and 447 pieces to build a grave-yard with two coffins and a creepy crypt, and Jack McHammer’s vehicle with giant zombie-smashing hammers. Here is a picture of the set:

Here is the official description for #9465 LEGO Monster Fighters Zombies: Help Jack McHammer get out of grave danger and seize the zombie moonstone! Through the mist, Jack McHammer catches sight of the zombie graveyard. He’s on a mission to recover the zombie moonstone, but as he reaches for it, the zombies rise from their coffins and attack! Can he make it back to his car and battle the zombies with the giant hammer?

If you like the LEGO Monster Fighters theme, this is a great set to get. With a graveyard, four minifigures and a vehicle, it has plenty of play-value. If you are not into monster-fighting, you may still like this set for the three unique zombies that would work well in post-apoc or haunted-castle settings. Here is a picture of the three zombies in the set as well as the zombie from the first Collectible Minifigure series pictured on the right (images from BrickLink). You can now build a wholeย horde of these guys! ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

The vehicle is not bad either, with some nice features and lovely colors. You can easily rework it into a classic-style or steampunk-ish vehicle, if you don’t care for those big hammers and flick-fire missiles. ๐Ÿ™„

The LEGO Monster Fighters Zombies set is now available at the Online LEGO Shop, along with all the other sets in the series (except for the #1022 Haunted House, which will beย released September 1st). The Zombies set is $39.99, which comes to 8 cents a piece –ย pretty standardย for today’s LEGO sets. You can check out further details or buy at the LEGO Shop.

So what do you think of the LEGO Monster Fighters Zombies? Do you like the series, or do you build other zombie-scenes? Share your thoughts in the comment section below! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Oh, yeah, forgot about that guy! ๐Ÿ™„

Makes me wanna customize a Deputy named Rick Grimes

  • Taryn (Ninja of Electronics) July 28, 2012, 12:27 PM

how is that kid friendly? really, giving horror to them isn’t my idea.

    • legolotr (Nick) July 28, 2012, 12:32 PM

      My thoughts exactly.

    • admin July 28, 2012, 12:42 PM

Taryn, I’m not sure what to say. For some reason today’s kids are all about zombies. I really don’t know where this came from; was it a result of some TV show, film or book? But every kid I interact with is either fights zombies or plays a zombie. ๐Ÿ˜•

I personally dislike the whole idea of zombies, ghosts, vampires and other dark creatures. I don’t know if they are real or not, but for good measure I stay out of their way. And I definitely don’t keep them in my LEGO collection. In fact, although I really liked the LEGO Fantasy Era Castle sets, I sold all of my trolls. I just didn’t like those evil red eyes. ๐Ÿ‘ฟ

But I understand that other people (both kids and adults) really like the whole genre of dead and half-dead beings. Personally I won’t buy the Monster Fighters sets (except I would like to get a couple of bats). However I’m seriously considering the Haunted House. I would sell the minifigs, but keep the house and modify it to just be an old house. It doesn’t have to be haunted. ๐Ÿ˜‰

      • legolotr (Nick) July 28, 2012, 12:45 PM

You could get the bat from the minifig series 8.

        • admin July 28, 2012, 12:47 PM

Nick, yes, but that bat is evil. I want the brown bats. ๐Ÿ™„

          • legolotr (Nick) July 28, 2012, 12:52 PM

You planning to use the bat as a good guy?

            • legodude19 July 28, 2012, 1:50 PM

What about Uruk Hai and Orcs ? Personally I wont get these sets for different reasons , but in video games Zombies are the way I cleanse the world of evil. ๐Ÿ˜€ Me killing zombies that is. ๐Ÿ™‚ And I am certainly gett Uruks and Orcs. already have Uruks actually…. ๐Ÿ˜€

              • legodude19 July 28, 2012, 1:50 PM

              • legolotr (Nick) July 28, 2012, 3:43 PM

Orcs aren’t dead. And they were once elves. They weren’t always orcs, but the evil Morgoth torchered them till they would do his bidding. Sad, really.

                • admin July 28, 2012, 3:54 PM

Yeah, it is one of the saddest part of the LOTR saga. I don’t even like to think about it. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

            • admin July 28, 2012, 3:41 PM

Naw, just as a random giant bat hanging from a tree-branch. ๐Ÿ™„

              • legolotr (Nick) July 28, 2012, 3:44 PM

That is random, but couldn’t you have a random giant evil bat hanging from a tree?

                • admin July 28, 2012, 3:55 PM

It’s gotta be a brown bat. I talked with my minifigs and that’s what they said they wanted. I’m not in control around here. ๐Ÿ™„

                  • legolotr (Nick) July 28, 2012, 3:58 PM

                    • legodude19 July 30, 2012, 12:32 PM

HAHAHA about the bats! I didn’t mean orcs were undead. I was asking whether admin would get orcs or Uruk hai since they are just as ugly as trolls from fantasy sets. And yes I certainly knew about orcs being tortured elves. I am a serious LOTR fan. I doubt that there is much you could teach me about it. ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ™‚ Even though my knowledge about Uruk Hai is a little shaky. ๐Ÿ˜›

                    • legolotr (Nick) July 31, 2012, 11:14 AM

Legodude19, you might be suprised at how much I know about LOTR. Last time I counted, I had about 20-25 different books about it.

      • Padawan Ahsoka Tano July 28, 2012, 4:37 PM

I agree, this whole zombie and vampire thing makes me just roll my eyes, and the Twilight saga just makes me gag.
I don’t like the idea of having kids play with toys of evil spirits and undead people… it’s kind of sickening. I do, however, love to read a good Nancy Drew ghost story, because it’s creepy, and yet you always know that the ghost isn’t real because, well, it’s Nancy Drew! XD
It’s fun getting a bit creeped out, but when a person immerses themselves in a world of evil spirits and darkness… that’s just begging for clinical depression and a grim outlook on life.

I like the idea of transforming the Haunted House into a Non- Haunted old house! If you ever get around to it, you should make a post with a picture of what it looks like! ๐Ÿ™‚

        • Jacob July 28, 2012, 6:57 PM

Maybe this is just me, but after looking at the whole conversation with this and the admin, I guess I’m the only ones with any sort of imagination around here (I’m not being too serious here). I’ve always imagined having a sorta custom future fantasy space theme, where all the LEGO figures from different kinds (all the Aliens, Trolls, Elves, Orcs, Mermen, Minotaurs, Leprechauns, Gnomes, Dwarves, Zombies, animated Skeletons, Ghosts, Vampires, Werewolves, Genies, the Atlantis and Ninjago creature men, uplifted gorillas, Robots and any others I may have forgotten) work together with other sentient and semi-sentient non-minifigure species to explore the cosmos. Individuals (including Zombies, Werewolves, animated Skeletons, and Vampires) would be in complete control of their actions, a being “bad” is purely based on choices of the individual, not based on what they are.

          • admin July 29, 2012, 9:57 AM

Jacob, that’s an awesome idea! I don’t have a problem with people using or liking different creatures (one of the reasons I really like Star Wars is the great variety of characters), and I really like when other people use them in creative ways. I’m just really sensitive and get scared easily. So I like to keep my environment scary-looking-creature-free. ๐Ÿ˜‰

        • admin July 29, 2012, 9:49 AM

Nick, I know! That little guy I couldn’t get rid of. He is so special, so I kept him. I have him dressed as an evil gladiator (with the Atlantis Portal Emperor torso). But I’m telling you, just that one troll is causing me enough trouble! ๐Ÿ™„

I also have one of each of the big trolls (the sand green, and dark tan ones). They look pretty dumb and harmless, but you never know. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • Jacob July 28, 2012, 6:28 PM

Well, as long as its in something that too serious, kids seem to like a good scare every now and then. One of LEGO’s first play themes (Adventures) was founded on ancient Mummies. Besides, LEGO rarely tries to make anything too scary in terms of behavior (See any LEGO video game or interpretation of a movie done by LEGO).

      • Taryn (Ninja of Electronics) July 29, 2012, 7:01 PM

Wow, i come back for an answer to my post and i see this whole line of replies!!! i dont like twilight and all the scary vampires and ghosts idea. i dislike halloween becuase it’s so scary. plus i hate going into shops around that time becuase they have scary decorations. UGH

  • Jacob July 28, 2012, 12:38 PM

This is my favorite of the Monster Fighters sets. Two completely unique Zombie figures and the duplicate is still welcome as one can never have enough zombies. Also the grave yard is nicely done. Personally don’t care much for the hammers or the flick fire missiles on the vehicle, but its an easy think to change. Hopefully LEGO will make a few more zombies, even if Monster Fighters does not continue, as most of the zombies (outside of the collectible minifigure), are very specific, and one can never have too many of them.

    • legolotr (Nick) July 28, 2012, 12:43 PM

I have one zombie, the geonosian, and that’s enough for me.

      • admin July 28, 2012, 12:44 PM

Yeah, you have to keep an eye on those guys! You never know what they will do while you are sleeping. ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

        • legolotr (Nick) July 28, 2012, 12:57 PM

Yeah, mine attacks me all the time. ๐Ÿ™„

          • legodude19 July 28, 2012, 1:51 PM

I have the geonosian Zombie too. A nice minifig, but not the greatest. ๐Ÿ™‚ The episodes of the clone wars that he came from were really well done too. and NOT too creepy. ๐Ÿ™‚

            • legolotr (Nick) July 28, 2012, 2:37 PM

I don’t think of it as a zombie.

  • KING_BOO_XDDX July 28, 2012, 4:05 PM

wow. just wow lego dosnt approve cusso shawn of the dead cause they say its RATED R ZOMBIES and HORROR but they make monster fighters? supposed to be about those old HORROR MOVIES with ZOMBIES VAMPIRES ETC.? and what RATING are HORRORS? R, rated R. lego needs to think about things geez. they decline something and dissapoints people then makes it worse? what the heck? atleast i like monster fighters

    • Jacob July 28, 2012, 6:34 PM

Although I would have bought the Shaun of the Dead set if it was made, because the license is R (and not really kid friendly at all) they rejected it. The same logic would be getting upset that LEGO would not make sets based off of the Aliens franchise, but still had things like Space Police and Alien Conquest. With LEGO, especially if they do their own thing, they have explicitly cartoony violence, but in Shaun of the Dead (or with almost any R rated film) the violence and language is very explicit.

  • KING_BOO_XDDX July 28, 2012, 4:20 PM

admin know any sellers on bricklink amazon and other sites that sell customs building vehicles etc. thats NOT ebay i dont shop ebay ๐Ÿ™‚ i find ebay pricy and i dont understand that bidding stuff

    • admin July 29, 2012, 9:43 AM

Sure, I know quite a few places that sell customs, however I’m not clear on what you are looking for. You mention custom buildings and vehicles. What kind of buildings and vehicles are you talking about? There are websites instructions to buildings and vehicles, and also some that sell actual custom sets. These tends to be expensive however. Anyhow, let me know what kind of buidlings and vehilces you had in mind and see if I can conect you with a website or seller. ๐Ÿ˜‰

BTW, eBay is very easy to use. I have been shopping there for many years. If you are confused about auctions, you can always choose the Buy It Now listings. These have a fixed price and you can shop just like at any other online shop. But yeah, custom sets are going to be pricey. It takes tremendous amount of work to source out parts for custom sets. I have done it for a while with my mini-chess set, and it was just not worth it. ๐Ÿ™

      • legolotr (Nick) July 29, 2012, 1:38 PM

since were on the topic of customs, did you ever post the part two of this: http://thebrickblogger.com/2011/12/guide-to-lego-customizing-part-1/ Admin??

        • admin July 29, 2012, 1:53 PM

Nick, yeah, I should get the second part of that post ready. It is on my to do list, but a post like that is a lot of work. I didn’t forget about it though, and it is my favorite topic. So once all the dust clears with these server issues, I can get back to writing more time-consuming posts. ๐Ÿ˜‰

          • legolotr (Nick) July 29, 2012, 3:52 PM

It is one of my favorites topics also.

            • admin July 29, 2012, 3:55 PM

Oh, really?! Would you like to write some articles/tutorials, share pictures, etc. ๐Ÿ˜‰

              • legolotr (Nick) July 29, 2012, 4:43 PM

I’ll show some pictures once I have something. I could also do a tutorial on how to make an ithorian.

Would love to see your pictures and tutorials are always welcome! ๐Ÿ™‚

  • legostuff71 July 28, 2012, 6:31 PM

just remember where their is good their is evil. you can’t get rid of evil.just like evil can’t get rid of good . If lego had made a set with just evil things then yes I wouldn’t buy those sets. But, lego put in both good and evil . so, that good can fight evil and win( if you want).

  • nace10 (Noah M.) July 28, 2012, 7:54 PM

    Cool set!

  • nace10 (Noah M.) July 28, 2012, 7:56 PM

Gollum once tryed to choke me. After that Sam’s guarding him.

    • legolotr (Nick) July 28, 2012, 8:09 PM

Build a jail to put him in.

    • admin July 29, 2012, 9:59 AM

LOL! You better watch out! Gollum can be very-very clever and sneak up on you! Even with Sam watching his every move! Remember what happened at Mordor? ๐Ÿ™„

      • nace10 (Noah M.) July 29, 2012, 2:41 PM

Don’t worry I gave Sam some rocks.

        • NRG PYTHOR July 30, 2012, 11:32 AM

What the!? My minifigs never attack me at night!

          • NRG PYTHOR July 30, 2012, 11:36 AM

I also want this set alot! The zombie minifigs would help for apocolipse[spell] moc! I like to use switch minifigs heads with the zombie head so, u can have a zombie ninja, santa, indyana jones, ect.

          • legolotr (Nick) July 31, 2012, 11:18 AM

            Really?? Lucky.

  • Dave August 9, 2012, 2:25 PM

Please! Evil? Worried about kids getting onto horror? Get over it!
My favorite movie as a kid was “Abott and Costello meet Frankenstein”. It was great fun and not horrific at all. It’s not a new trend people.
Aliens, creeps, critters, and ghoulies are things that kids love and these same monsters inspire imagination.
It’s so sad to see kids grow up only to become out of touch, boring parents.
    Monsters are fun! ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Heretic August 30, 2012, 10:37 PM

I am completely blown away by these comments. At first I thought it was some group joke, but apparently some of you really are so ignorant it literally causes me pain. If you honestly think any of this stuff is “evil” god Halloween must really suck around your house. These are cutesy little representations of the classic Universal monsters that have been out since the black and white movie era. By your definition lets see… Ghostbusters, Scooby Doo, The Munsters, Sesame Street, etc are all “evil” and not suitable for children. And i love the pure GENIUS of comparing these two Shaun of the Dead. Does your brain even function?? This is one of the most utterly ridiculous things I’ve read in a long time. Shame on you guys, I pray you do not have children.

    • admin September 2, 2012, 4:33 PM

Heretic, your opinion is appreciated. Thank you for sharing. At the same time there is no need to make personal attacks towards others. People come from different cultures and backgrounds; and something that is normal for one person, may be very strange and unusual for another. However it is this great diversity that makes the world a more interesting place – as long as we are willing to be open minded and keep our interactions respectful, even if we don’t agree with or understand another person fully. Thank you for your cooperation. Play well! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Hรฅkan, Sweden September 17, 2012, 4:49 PM

I believe many people claim that horror fiction is a safe way to deal with our own fears, and it’s also quite efficient as neutralizing it when done in such a cute fashion as Lego minifigs.

I find the sets quite cool, and of course they could be useful for AFOL:s in several fashions such as MOC:s, freeform gaming, etc.

I like the concept of 19th century aristocrats running around chasing monsters, kind of high concept, but I didn’t like that they gave Rathbone a robotic leg. That was sort of overkill…
