LEGO Fairy Forest – enchanted & magical…

A LEGO forest for fairy friends… what more magical could you ask for? Sean and Steph Mayo (a.k.a. Siercon & Coral) created an incredible enchanted LEGO forest touched by the magic of the fairies. Check it out! 😛

The Fairy Forest is here! Deep in the heart of Avalonia on the Mystic Islands lies a land rich with magic and mystery. Here is the Fairy Forest capitol home to more than 200 forestmen and elves. The world’s most elite archers are found here in its renown Archery Guild. And if you’re looking for an earth-wizard, ent, or fairy dragon-rider, here is the place to find them. One can even see the expanse of the mystic isles from the Redwoods hundreds of feet tall. It is here that Coral and Siercon make their home…

Fairies sit atop the towering Redwoods and forestmen climb long spiraling staircases to reach their homes in the branches… (This picture gives you a good aerial view of the whole forest, although details are harder to see.)

Many of the forestmen dwell over a hundred feet from the forest floor… (Note the nicely done timber-frame on the houses, and the lovely staircase.)

Elves, forestmen, and the occasional recruit come to the Forestmen Guild to train under the finest archers in the world… (Check out the wonderful use of the ship parts as well that gorgeous bow & arrow insignia above the gate!)

This is the left-side of the Fairy Forest, which was originally a separate diorama called Festival of Flowers. There is a sweet story behind it: Silas looked slowly round at the youthful faces gazing up at him in anticipation. This small journey was their rite of passage, a time of testing as well as instruction. He waited until the forestlings had settled around the warming fire, preparing themselves for a night of lore and adventure. Silas cleared his throat. “Are you ready to listen? To become a Forestman, like your parents and like me, to hear the tales of your ancestors?” He chuckled to himself as he watched the innocent smiles that grew among them. “Good. Our first tale is from long ago, when forestmen first came to this place… (Read the rest of the story here: Festival of Flowers – The Story)

Water-nymphs and goddesses lace the river with magic, causing every form of magic to bloom on the forest floor… (The whole forest is full of cleverly designed flowers and other vegitation from the most unlikely LEGO parts.)

The Fairy Flowers scene here was also originally a separate diorama that was later incorporated into the Fairy Forest. The techniques for making the flowers are especially nice, and of course we have to mention the cute fairies!

There are many more wonderful details of the LEGO Fairy Forest; more tree houses, a fortress wall and towers, a mystical cave full of jewels and gold, forest-flowers of all colors and shapes, and all kinds of magical creatures (like the Water Nymp above). So I recommend checking out Sian and Steph’s Flickr gallery for more: The LEGO Fairy Forest Gallery

Please note that many of the techniques used in the LEGO Fairy Forest are the same or similar to the ones discussed in the LEGO Medieval Village Tutorial. So, if you are not sure about a technique, you will likely find detailed instructions there.

So what do you think? Are you inspired to build your own LEGO Fairy Forest? Or did you catch some interesting details you would like to add in your own LEGO designs? Share your thoughts and comments below! 😉

WOW 😯 that is an amazing diorama. You can’t help but wonder how long it took for them to build all of that.

    • admin August 23, 2012, 8:03 PM

Yes, it is very amazing. As far as I know it was built in parts. Certain sections were built as individual dioramas, then connected together to make a large layout. 😉

Those are some absolutely gorgeous builds. Love them all. No idea where they got the clear minifig pieces for the water fairy though. I totally want to build a forest scene for all my castle woodsmen.

    • legolotr August 21, 2012, 12:42 PM

      They are not minifig pieces.

    • admin August 23, 2012, 8:04 PM

Eric, the water-fairy is made of various clear LEGO parts. It is not a minifig. (Yeah! That makes her even more amazing!) But it would be neat if LEGO would make an actual clear minifig! 😉

It looks like they’ve tied and braided transparent cables or something like that ? …

  • George Barnick (Meiko) August 21, 2012, 11:22 AM

I got a chance to see this up close at BrickFair VA 2012. I got to talk to the creators during the setup dates there, and they pointed out some nice, easy-to-miss details in the build.

    • admin August 23, 2012, 8:05 PM

George, you are fortunate! I would love to see this in person myself! 🙂

      • hades ninja of darkness March 19, 2014, 12:30 PM

  • legostuff71 August 21, 2012, 12:21 PM

I love it. I alway loved fantasy . I am hoping that LEGO will make fantasy sets .(not just lord of the rings but something of there own.) It would make another step to there maybe the”friends” sets.

    • admin August 23, 2012, 8:08 PM

That’s actually a really good idea. I think The Castle Fantasy Era line was going in the right direction with the fantasy element, although for some reason LEGO always has to make everybody fight. It would be nice if the wyould make some non-violent fairy-fantasy sets! 🙂

  • gid617 August 21, 2012, 1:22 PM

That really awesome and huge! Building something like that would be a dream for me! 😀 I really love the bow & arrow over the door, it looks great! Plus the river is awesome! 😉

i think my fav part is the water.

  • Micho August 21, 2012, 4:47 PM

I saw this last month, me thinks… and wow!!!! I hope to one day build something like this, they use everything from LEGO, even the junk pieces, like plastics and other stuff… plus they’re writers!!!!

    • admin August 23, 2012, 8:12 PM

Micho, yeah, there is no such thing as junk LEGO. I also save everything; the pieces of plastic around the leaves, the little round pieces between the coins and round plates, and all kinds of other “junk”. It is surprizing how much you can do with them. 😉

      • gid617 August 23, 2012, 9:51 PM

I save them, but I’ve yet to find a use for them. . . 😉

  • The Pink Ninja (Nya) August 21, 2012, 8:56 PM

hey admin um can i try to make a topic for hero factory vs bionicle with stories like the ninjago fan fiction but hf vs bio? to try to settle the bio vs hf thing (or end up making it worse) i would have a pattern like this for the wins hf, bio, bio, hf, tie, hf ,hf, bio, hf,tie ………….. so could i do it the thing is how do i post a image and send the post? (maybe if lego sees they could remake bio alongside hf! or make hf vs bio or remake bionicle alone as bio pretty much MADE lego! bio took lego out of the trash, the pound, jail, petstore who people thought it looked ugly, the- i can continue for years hf bio are legos best (but i still like others aswell even though i never get any… 🙁 one of these days ill win the scrach cards or get rich or get an adult form and have a lego mansion a lego live size private beach a- alright ill stop cause its gonna get insane :\

    • KINGBOOXDDX August 24, 2012, 8:16 AM

bio would win more as bio is MUCH better not because it lasted a WHOLE decade (or 9 years) or epicer guys NO but because it has stronger armor weapons better storyline i mean hf is go out, get beat by bad guys ,upgrade ,go out ,get beat- yeah…. in bio fights are long and epic some toas go down but not done yet and then do they upgrade NO they dont need upgrades anyways HEROES ARNET MADE IN FACTORYS that means they have ARTIFICIAL POWER as toas were built by gods mata nui and such with REAL power now youd say i hate hf NO i like it especially the parts it needs a fresher storyline but bio vs hf ? BIOnic chroNICLE ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I want to build my own Lego forest. Probably really expensive to buy individual pieces by the hundreds though to make it happen.
