Summer & fall 2013 LEGO sets – first view

2013 LEGO London Toy FairThe early part of the year is the traditional time for various toy fairs. Although the target audience is retailers who want to see the upcoming product lines and hot toys for the year, it is also exciting for LEGO fans. Toy fairs are usually the first time to get a glimpse of new LEGO sets scheduled to be released during the year. This week we had the London Toy fair, with the German Toy Fair coming up soon.

The London Toy Fair had a strict policy against taking pictures, however LEGO fans were allowed to look around and take notes. Below I will list the upcoming LEGO sets based on the notes of Brickset’s owner Huw, who lives in the UK and had a chance to go to the London Toy Fair personally. So let’s dive right in so we can discuss! 😀

There are also new sets in LEGO Super Heroes, but the set names and minifigs are not yet revealed, only the set numbers. We already talked about the new LEGO Mindstorms set which will be released later this year (See: A New Generation of LEGO Mindstorms!). Also, there are going to be three new games (Chima, Batman and a family-game). Series 10 and 11 of the Collectible Minifigures will be released as well, and also a six DUPLO sets based on the Jake and the Neverland Pirates and the Planes TV series by Disney and Pixar. And for LEGO Hero Factory fans there will be seven new sets.

And that concludes the 2013 LEGO sets scheduled for release later this year. I’m excited about the LEGO Lord of the Rings sets, LEGO Galaxy Squad, the LEGO Lone Ranger sets, and of course the Collectible Minifigures. I’m still not sure about the new LEGO Castle line. I really have to see some good pictures to decide if I like them.  Same with the LEGO Star Wars sets. And since LEGO is pushing it so much, I’m sure I will pick up a LEGO Legends of Chima set here and there to make LEGO happy. 😛

How about you? What do you think of the upcoming 2013 LEGO sets? Which one of the themes are you looking forward to the most? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below! 😉

I can’t wait to see the Castle sets… no matter if they are not up-to-par with FE or Kingdoms, I still want all 5, that’s really all I’m excited about… wait, no… I also ant the LOTR Pirate Ship… yeah, reminds me of Chow Young Fat’s ship on POTC 3, so it will fit in well with my POTC collection. I plan on getting all these at a discount though, so I probably wont get any until after Xmas. I am very sad though because I guess the Dwarve’s mine was really a rumor just like Anna thought. Today though, I’m heading to PHX and am gonna have some S9 CMFs in my hand in a few hours hopefully =D… HAPPY HAPPY, JOY JOY!!!

      • admin January 25, 2013, 12:03 PM

Let me know how your CMF hunt goes! I will probably end up buying mine on BrickLink of ebay as I’m getting tired of my TRU to carry them. And yeah, that Pirate Ship is awesome! 😀

        • Micho January 25, 2013, 7:56 PM

CMF hunt went great. I was feeling through the bags and couldn’t find the Forest Maiden or Actress so I asked for anther box, the clerk brought it out and asked me “if you find a cop, can you let me know please?” I found it right away and then he helped me find the two missing CMFs. Here’s my haul…
          8 knights
          6 mermaids
          4 Cyclops
          3 Chicken Suits
          2 Forest Maidens
          1 Actress
          1 Cop
Got everything I wanted except one more Actress 🙁 … they were really scarce. Also the first batch of CMFs that was out you could tell someone already had felt the bags before me, guess they were looking for the actress too. I also got a free Ewar’s Acro Flyer.
I did put some up on BL, but I jacked up the price to see if they can pay for the ones I’m keeping. If they don’t sell in a couple of weeks I’m lowering the price and I’ll let you know via email.
All in all it wasn’t bad, 25 minifigs and the Chima set for under $75 because I had a $5 reward from LEGO VIP, and hopefully I can make some of that up from BL.

          • admin January 26, 2013, 6:26 PM

Nice haul! I think you should be doing fine on Bricklink selling the extras as not that man people have them listed yet. I do agree with you that the actress is absolutely sweet! I love her hair! 😀

          • ninjanut January 27, 2013, 9:42 PM

My sister was diss appointed when you said he actress was scarce my sis is best at finding them though i am catching up 🙂 one time we stayed at a learning express for like 45 minutes trying to find me a series8 conquistor and I got him !:)!

            • Micho January 30, 2013, 6:43 PM

I think there are something like 2 actresses to a box, very scarce… I think I was at the LEGO store feeling through bags for about an hour and a half, but the guy working there was so cool he helped me look through my last two because I found his policeman he was looking for. The conquistador was tough, but I bought 100 minifigs at $1 after Xmas and kept all the conquistadors for myself, so I have a little Spanish Navy

        • Micho January 25, 2013, 7:59 PM

FYI.. the actress is the most beautiful minifigure ever made… she’s like a mix between Marylin Monroe and Charlize Theron

        • Legoman640 January 26, 2013, 9:45 AM

I always wanted a couple star wars sets with a jedi or two. I’m looking forward to Adi Galia because I have a Ps2 game called Jedi Starfighter. Adi is the main character and their enemy is the Trade Federation. Captain Cavik Toth is working along with Count Dooku to destroy the jedi. Adi Galia also destroys the enemy hex weapon the Trade Federation is making. (Sorry if i’m off topic admin 😳

          • admin January 26, 2013, 10:14 AM

No need to be sorry. That;s not off topic at all. Likely a lot of people don’t know who these Jedi are, so thanks for sharing. 😉

Looking forward to the airport sets! These sound very different than previous airport sets.

    • legostuff71 January 25, 2013, 12:36 PM

Hey, Admin. are those prices for the new LEGO sets European prices only and is U. S.A prices going to be different. Or is it about the same.

      • admin January 25, 2013, 5:27 PM

Yeah, since the report is from the London Toy Fair, prices are in British Pound. Trying to figure out what prices are going to be in the USA is not as simple as just converting the currency, as USA prices tend to be a lot less then prices in Europe. But we should get the USA prices fairly soon. 😉

    • admin, have i reached 3,000 comments yet?:P

    • ninjanut February 1, 2013, 2:50 PM

She and Obi duel Grevious but he escapes so she does duel with him but does not get killed by him in clone wars season 1 or 2 i forgot :S

    • PIA February 18, 2013, 5:29 PM

      Hi admin,

      I haven’t been commenting for a long time… But I back.

I have a question about chima I looked on brickipeida(not sure if I spelled that right) and they said that there would be one more speedor and there wasn’t any pics of it? Perhaps it is confidential?

      • admin February 18, 2013, 7:30 PM

Hey, PIA, long time no see! Brickipedia is not the most reliable website. I would certainly not depend on it. Any kid or anyone can edit it at any time. Having said that, there is a second wave of Chima sets coming soon, so perhaps the author was referring to something from the summer wave?

    • j.d.e. May 14, 2013, 4:48 AM
