Custom LEGO minifigs & more by EclipseGRAFX

Today I would like to introduce you to another LEGO customizer we haven’t talked about before, EclipseGRAFX.com. EclipseGRAFX, also known as EclipseBricks, specializes in custom LEGO minifigures, minifigure parts and accessories. Their current focus is custom printed LEGO minifigures and elements, but they also carry fully customized minifigures equipped with accessories from other customizers like BrickArms, BrickWarriors, Clone Army Customs, etc. – so you get the best of the best! 🙂

Custom LEGO by EclipseGRAFX

I have been following EclipseGRAFX products for quite some time now, but it was only recently I decided to make a purchase. The custom printed LEGO minifigure that got me to place my first order is the Na’vi pictured below, inspired by the movie Avatar. Since I’m a big fan of the movie, and because the printing looked so impressive I just had to have one of these little guys. The minifigure is named Ateyo, a character only mentioned briefly in the movie as the father of Tsu’tey, the young Na’vi warrior who didn’t get along with Jake, but then became friends, and later died in a valiant attack on the human intruders. For me though, he is just an awesome Na’vi, and I always wanted a Na’vi minifigure! 😀

Custom LEGO Avatar Minifigure by EclipseGRAFX

I have to say that the printing on this minifigure is awesome! Just to clarify; these are not decals, stickers or paint. This is premium pad-printing with brilliant colors, durable enough for play. The torso of this custom LEGO minifig is fully printed front, back, and on both arms. His legs and hips are printed both front and back. His head is also printed with a dual sided face; one neutral, the other angry. A beautiful minifigure indeed! By the way I customized mine using the pointy-eared Orc hairpiece from the LEGO Lord of the Rings sets. See below. Isn’t he awesome? 😎

EclipseGRAFX offers other custom printed LEGO minifigs with incredible quality. Many are military related, but there are also some very unique ones from video-games, comics, and fantasy themes. Please note that most of these are very limited quantity, although you can always place a custom order by asking nicely. 😉

Fully custom printed LEGO minifigures are not cheap, (usually $15-$20 each) however you can still enjoy the quality printing and artwork of EclipseGRAFX by just getting printed minifigure parts: minifigure heads, legs, torsos are available in a great variety and with many color options.

Some of my most favorite custom LEGO products from EclipseGRAFX are these super cute and realistic LEGO soda-cans, cups of coffee with frothy goodness, and chocolate-bars! I don’t know if these would be healthy for your minifigs though – they are already a bit chubby. 🙄

Custom LEGO Accessories by EclipseGRAFX

EclipseGRAFX has also been expanding into printing on other LEGO elements, like tiles and window-screens. These can add great detail to your LEGO creations. Other new products are added all the time.

Custom LEGO Elements by EclipseGRAFX

EclipseGRAFX is run by Victor Fernandez from New York.  His website where you can see all of his products is EclipseGRAFX.com. He also goes to LEGO conventions, if you would like to meet him personally. I also recommend checking out his Flickr Gallery. Victor is an incredible LEGO customizer and his hand-painted and customized minifigs are a work of art!

Here is a video showing off some of EclipseGRAFX custom LEGO products at their YouTube Channel. You can see more videos as well from various LEGO conventions where they participated.

To summarize, I would highly recommend EclipseGRAFX’s custom LEGO minifigures and accessories. I’m very happy with all of the products I bought, and I’m also looking forward to more. Also, remember that making a purchase from small LEGO customizers like EclipseGRAFX supports artists with real talent, craftsmanship and work-values. Although these products are more expensive then the ones made en-masse in places like China, in this case you are definitely getting what you pay for. You get incredible products and you are also supporting artists and craftsman who offer real quality, value and durability. Enjoy! 😉

Awesomely beautiful! Like with Citizen Brick, I love the custom bricks like the soda cans, coffee cups, and chocolate bars. Very clever. But the Halo like minifigs, the Star Wars-like ones, and the army minifigs are my favorite. Awesome spear on the Avatar minifig by the way. I’ll have to get some of these!

    • admin May 17, 2013, 5:49 PM

Meneldur, the spear is from BrickForge, and yeah, it is awesome! I have a gazillion of those. 😀

Hey, I was wondering how to contribute to the blog. If I can that is.

        • admin May 24, 2013, 12:56 PM

If you have some articles in mind just email me. My contact info is under my Contributor’s Page in the top navigation bar, and also the little envelope at the top of the left-hand column where the social buttons are. Articles should be informational and educational, although sharing personal stories is also fine as long as they are appropriate for sharing and discussion. Articles should be 500-1,000 words long and properly edited for content and grammar. At least one picture and/or video should be included. Maximum pictures per article are 10, videos 2. If you have any questions just email me. 😉

I purchased some of the soda cans from Victor in January at BrickFair Alabama. The quality is amazing…same or better than Lego. NO stickers or easy-to-rub-off decals. I’ll definitely be buying some of the other food items.

  • ninja of stealth May 17, 2013, 12:41 PM

I really like these custom minifigs that these websites make, although I’ve only seen them on the computer (or as frank honey Lego city undercover would say, compuper :D) but anyway. the avatar ones where pretty cool.

  • Chris of Yoda Archives May 17, 2013, 5:02 PM

EclipseGRAFX makes some awesome stuff. I got some soda cans from them at a comic show in Memphis. The figures look great in person. I will be getting some this summer.
I’m planning on going to Brickfair Alabama next year. Plans for this year fell through.

    • admin May 17, 2013, 5:51 PM

Chris, I hope you can make it to BrickFair next year. Would love to hear how you like it. 🙂

  • Meneldur son of Garamar May 17, 2013, 6:00 PM

Now what is Brick Fair exactly? Is there one in every state? By the way, I was in Wegmans today and I saw the Minifigures Encyclopedia! Too bad I didn’t have any money on me at the time so I couldn’t get it. Hopefully next time.

  • Håkan May 17, 2013, 8:44 PM

I’m a bit uncertain about their attempts to avoid naming trademarked characters. I believe the character likeness is a bit too high to avoid troubles in court, f anyone would file a lawsuit.

Brick Fair is a convention, afaik.

    • admin May 18, 2013, 6:52 AM

Hakan, yeah, I thought of that too. Probably this was why they choose such an odd character. And also the reason I bought one in case they get in trouble. Usually big franchises won’t go after small hobby-sites and fan-created projects, although some definitely do. I wouldn’t worry about a lawsuit, but maybe a sease-and-desist letter, which would just mean they would have to pull the minifig from their selection.

      • Håkan May 18, 2013, 10:03 AM

As a superhero fan, their Marvel Comics-characters don’t seem particularly odd, except for their constrained names.

  • Darth Awesome May 17, 2013, 11:21 PM

    They look awesome!

  • Legoman640 May 18, 2013, 7:41 PM

LOL. They had a grumpy old man from bible times as one of their minifigs. XD

  • SuperSpyX May 23, 2013, 2:51 PM

I really like their Recon head. It would be a perfect spy head with the dark glasses, headset and HUD/reticule screen. The fact that they offer it in five skin tints is very nice too. The prices are pretty high, but I want to make an order soon.

  • Professor Creativity May 24, 2013, 12:08 PM

I love the legs just before the soda cans, especially.

  • Professor Creativity May 24, 2013, 12:09 PM

I especially love the legs just before the soda cans.

  • LEGOLord May 26, 2013, 5:43 AM

Did you paint the ears yourself on the Na’vi it looks wicked

    • admin May 26, 2013, 9:19 AM

Yeah, just a little bit of Testors. 😉

  • LEGOLord May 28, 2013, 5:46 AM

I’ll be honest I have never heard of Testors paints did you use Enamel or Acrylic Paints oh I found a website in the UK it’s http://tomleech.com/lego/
This guy does custom minifigures and something he calls Nanofigs they look pretty cool but he doesn’t do pad printing he uses waterslide decals but check his site out 🙂

    • admin May 28, 2013, 9:42 AM

Yeah, I’m familiar with Tom’s nanofigs, in fact, I was planning to write an article about them. 🙂

As far as Testors, it is an enamel hobby paint made for model airplanes, cars, etc., widely available in the USA. I really like it because it flows smoothly and goes on thin; great for LEGO. Also their silver and copper colors are exactly the same as LEGO’s spray-painted pieces (like the Fantasy Era dwarf and knight helmets, etc.) so it is great for fixing up LEGO pieces where the silver and copper starts to fade. Unfortunately their gold paint is a different shade, but I don’t use gold that often anyway. Testors comes in small bottles and it is not expensive. A great hobby paint. Other brands are also available, but I prefer Testors.

  • LEGOLord May 29, 2013, 4:58 AM

Thanks for the Testors tips I’ll have to see if I can get some, it’s always a pleasure talking to a fellow LEGO enthusiast. 🙂

    • admin May 29, 2013, 9:10 AM

You are welcome! Let me know how it goes with your projects! 🙂

  • LEGOLord May 31, 2013, 7:32 AM

I will do that I thinking of designing a custom LEGO Nightcrawler from X-Men I’m hoping it’ll be splendiferous 🙂
