2014 LEGO sets available now!

Well, here is what we have been waiting for; most of the first wave of the 2014 LEGO sets are now available! I will show you some of the highlights, then we can talk about which ones are our favorites. So let’s dive right in! 🙂

2014 LEGO Sets & Promotions

2014 LEGO CITY SETS: All of the first wave of the 2014 LEGO City sets are now available, and there is a very nice variety and selection. Of course there are new LEGO City Police and LEGO City Fire sets, but also new LEGO City vehicles and trucks, and even a new LEGO City Camper Van (the previous one was very popular – this one should be as well, as it’s a nice design). I also like the little six-stud-wide #60053 LEGO City Race Car. I already got three of them and plan to make different color combinations.

2014 LEGO CREATOR SETS: In the LEGO Creator line there is a lot to look at! First of all the #10241 LEGO Maersk Line Triple-E is now available, as well as the lovely #10243 LEGO Parisian Restaurant. The 3-in-1 sets are also particularly sweet this time; especially the two animals sets. A great way to learn how to build animals and birds from LEGO – not an easy feat!

2014 LEGO CUUSOO SETS: The #21104 LEGO NASA Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity Rover is now available. This is a particularly interesting, LEGO-fan and NASA-engineer designed set we talked about before (see link at the end of this post). If you are interested, I would suggest you pick this up right away. I expect that it will sell out quickly. Here is the direct link: Buy LEGO Curiosity Rover

2014 LEGO FRIENDS SETS: All of the new sets are now released. Don’t miss out on that cute little scooter in the #41027 LEGO Friends Mia’s Lemonade Stand! It is such a nice color, and the only other set it appears in is the #10243 LEGO Parisian Restaurant (in red).

2014 LEGO NINJAGO SETS: These have been released last month, but I thought to mention them anyway as they are very popular. They have been available at most LEGO retailers (although some are just starting to stock the shelves with 2014 sets), and you can also get them at the Online LEGO Shop.

Shop LEGO Ninjago

2014 LEGO THE HOBBIT SETS: These were also released last month, but might as well add them here due to their popularity. I don’t want to offend any Tolkien fans by excluding them. 🙄

2014 THE LEGO MOVIE SETS: The awesomest and wackiest things of the year! I really enjoy these sets and I would recommend you check them out. The 2-in-1 sets are particularly interesting.

2014 LEGO DISNEY PRINCESS SETS: These charming sets are finally available! Please note that on the USA site they don’t have their own category as of this writing, but you can go to the What’s New section at the Online LEGO Shop and you can find them there.

The 2014 LEGO Star Wars sets, the 2014 LEGO Super Heroes Batman sets, the 2014 LEGO Legends of Chima sets, and the 2014 LEGO Technic sets are currently available worldwide except in the USA and in Canada (no fair!), but hopefully they will show up shortly at this side of the planet too. 😕

2014 LEGO Shop Promotion

So what do you think? Are you excited? Which one of the sets are on your “must have” list? Personally I feel that the #10243 LEGO Parisian Restaurant is one of the nicest sets LEGO ever produced (make sure you read the review linked at the end of this post). There are also many great sets at smaller price-points in the LEGO Ninjago, LEGO Friends, LEGO Hobbit and The LEGO Movie line, so there is something for everyone. So what’s on your shopping-list? What did you get already? Feel free to share and discuss in the comment section below! 😉

When I read this I had one thought: AWESOME! O-O! =D I am definitely getting a few of the LEGO Movie sets and a few of The Hobbit sets at some point! I am surprised that The LEGO Movie sets are mostly pretty cheap though. There are only a few over $30.

    • admin January 2, 2014, 11:07 AM

LEGO has been actually very conscious of making of lot of cheaper and medium-size sets due to the economy. Also, they tend to make affordable sets for the first wave of a new theme, so more people have a chance to try them out. I said this before; but The LEGO Movie sets are awesome! I haven’t had this much fun building official LEGO sets for quite some time. They are what LEGO is all about; fun, creativity and imagination. 😉

And it’ll probably be to counterbalance the summer release, which will have Benny’s Spaceship at upwards of 1000 pieces, and Metalbeard’s Sea Cow, clocking in at above 2000 parts. Not to mention we have Emmet’s Construction mech, which by the looks of it, is no small set.

        • admin January 2, 2014, 12:05 PM

Yes, I actually meant to say that but I got distracted by some pretty birdies at the birdfeeder in front on my window and forgot. Thanks for balancing it out. We will talk about those sets in a couple of days. I’m super excited about Benny’s Spaceship! 😛

          • Micho January 2, 2014, 12:25 PM

I just saw a clearer picture of the Sea Cow… WHOA MOMMA!!! 2014 summer is going to be THE SUMMER OF LEGO!!! with Benny’s Spaceship and teh Sea Cow… I just wish they would make that WW Invisible Jet, all clear pieces… I’d buy that!!!

            • admin January 2, 2014, 1:17 PM

An invisible jet? Yeah, I would buy that too!

              • Fikko3107 January 2, 2014, 2:19 PM

It would be the best parts pack ever…

Not to mention one of the least durable, by quality, not design, set ever, if you don’t count Bionicle sets from 2006 upwards.

Oh, and according to the LEGO Batman Visual Dictionary, LEGO had considered at some point to create the invisible jet, so we can keep hoping…You can see the concept art here:

                • admin January 2, 2014, 2:52 PM

Oh, that’s interesting! I have never seen that before! 🙂

                • Micho January 2, 2014, 5:07 PM

Oh yeah, that is pretty sweet!!!

  • Fikko3107 January 2, 2014, 10:08 AM

    Curiosity is out already?!

Oh by the way, the part about Superheroes, Technic and Chima not yet available in America being “not fair”-Really? Considering America is almost always ahead everyone else?

    • admin January 2, 2014, 11:08 AM

Yeah, Curiosity is out. The “no-fair” comment was tounge-in cheek. 😉

    • LK2 January 2, 2014, 12:19 PM

Yeah! We didn’t get the Ninjago 2014 sets until 4 days ago! Or the Hobbit sets! and 90% of LEGO deals in America don’y make it over here! And on top of that we pay so much more for sets here! (A 29.99 set is 29.99 here, where it should be around 21-24 acorrding to the exchange rate)

      • admin January 2, 2014, 1:16 PM

Yeah, I’m amazed by the LEGO prices people in some countries have to pay! I think they are expensive here! 😕

        • Fikko3107 January 2, 2014, 2:15 PM

You’re to complain. Here, everything is at least 1.5 times you Americans or you Brits!

By the way admin, what are the chances that if I order a set from lego.com now, it’ll arrive a couple of days before say, mid-January? Or do you think it’s a tad bit too risky? Cause I’m really eyeing the Curiosity…

          • admin January 2, 2014, 2:51 PM

Fikko, are you talking about the USA site? I usually get orders within a week. But it is early January when LEGO gets a lot of orders, so it is a bit iffy. At busy times it can take a few days before the order gets shipped out. I could call and ask. Are the sets you are considering shown as in stock?

            • Fikko3107 January 2, 2014, 11:55 PM

Yes, I mean the American one. Unfortunately, Curiosity is out of stock already! Why…Besides I’m really pushing my luck. I already have 77 dollars worth of LEGO for my “Christmas”, so I think I’ll wait until, say, my long August holidays. I think my parents are considering going to San Francisco, so fingers crossed…(Though still, I would prefer New York; it feels more iconic, more propaganda-y, and that’s where all the exclusive polybags come in…)

              • admin January 3, 2014, 9:20 AM

CUUSOO sets almost always sell out right away when they get first released. But it will be re-stocked, I’m sure. As far as NY vs. SF, both are great places, and both are iconic USA cities. I much prefer SF, but I think everyone should visit NY at least once. 😉

  • ninja of stealth January 2, 2014, 12:14 PM

the LEGO movie sets are awesome! I have the super cycle chase (which is the best so far and recommended by me; ninja of stealth. 😉 ) and the ice cream machine. ( I can’t tell you how long it has been that I have been wanting an ice-cream truck.) but the bummer is that it doesn’t transform. its one way or the other so I built the ice-cream truck. (sweet… literally.) and as for star wars, NO FAIR! 👿 when are they going to be out? and is the ninjago season premier of the eighth? 😕

    • admin January 2, 2014, 1:14 PM

Nice! The ice-cream truck is very cute! As far as Ninjago, if I remember correctly it was the 18th.

      • ninja of stealth January 3, 2014, 12:27 PM

the 18th now I have to wait even longer! or are you confusing it with the rumor about it coming out Dec. 18th?

oh yeah I meant to say on the eighth, not of the eighth. 😳

        • admin January 3, 2014, 12:44 PM

They are all rumors, so at this point no official date is known. I will believe any of them when I actually see it in print by either LEGO or CN.

  • Andy at www.smallplasticbricks.com January 2, 2014, 12:34 PM

Our local Lego store in Concord, NC has had all these City sets since November. Maybe they come out at other stores later? I love the Parisian restaurant!

    • admin January 2, 2014, 1:18 PM

Andy, the 2014 LEGO City sets actually had an official release late December, but some stores are notorious of putting them out early – often by accident. My local stores just started to put them out on the shelves this week.

  • Batman is AWESOME January 2, 2014, 1:29 PM

When are the rest of the DC Superheroes sets coming out? ( The Joker Steamroller, and that small Penguin set ) Does anyone know?

  • ~EliteBrick~ January 2, 2014, 1:35 PM

No LEGO Star Wars, 🙁 I have been stalking the website since Midnight January 1st 🙁

  • Chris of Yoda Archives January 2, 2014, 1:49 PM

Curiosity is already sold out on the Online shop. I expected it to sell out quick. I will get it eventually. I will get the Creative ambush and Metalbeard’s duel.

    • admin January 2, 2014, 2:49 PM

I’m sure they will bring it back. It sold out so quick there was no time to hit the order button!
