2014 LEGO sets – New York Toy Fair report

As we have discussed previously January/February of every year is when the various large international Toy Fairs happen; first in London, then in Germany, then in New York. This is when LEGO themes and sets for the new year get revealed. We have already discussed the London and German Toy Fairs, and today we will talk about the New York Toy Fair! 🙂

2014 LEGO New York Toy Fair Report

I’m not going to repeat all the information that we have discussed in the previous Toy Fair reports; for the upcoming set names and prices check out the 2014 LEGO Sets – London Toy Fair Report, and for pictures and videos see the 2014 LEGO Sets – German To Fair Report. However there is some new coverage and videos with more details that I think you will like.

2014 LEGO Sets Available Now

Flickr user Ricky Brigante covered the LEGO section of the Toy Fair with excellent pictures. You can check out his gallery for over 200 pictures of the upcoming 2014 LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Ninjago, LEGO Legends of Chima, LEGO Mixels, LEGO Hero Factory, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, LEGO DC Super Heroes, LEGO City, LEGO Friends, LEGO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, LEGO Ultra Agents, The LEGO Movie sets and more!

The BrickShow also participated in the Toy Fair and covered pretty much every upcoming set in a series of short videos. You can see those below. Please note that there are 55 videos in this series, and although each of them only take a couple of minutes, the total viewing time is over an hour and a half. If you don’t want to watch all of the videos in order, you can also go to the BrickShow’s YouTube channel to just select the ones you want.

And while we are waiting for the later wave of 2014 LEGO sets to hit the shelves, don’t forget that the first wave of the 2014 LEGO sets are now available! You can find them all listed at the Online LEGO Shop.

So what do you think? What’s on your 2014 LEGO shopping list? Feel free to share and discuss in the comment section below! 😉

I have already watched some of those Brickshow videos, for the Star Wars and TLM sets. THese sets are sooo COOL!!!
Also, I read on Brickset (I think) that there was a sign that said that a wave of The Hobbit sets is going to be released in December 2014. I hope it’s true!! Also can’t wait for those Ninjago sets, they get new suits (watch the Battle for Ninjago City vid by Brickshow)!!!!!!

That makes sense about The Hobbit sets as that’s when they normally get released – in line with the movie releases.

What about Lord of the Rings sets?

I don’t think they will have any. Lego LotR was released generally mid-year, so it would have been at the Toy Fairs.

I am soooo excited!! My family went to the LEGO Store today, and there was no Flying Flusher! 🙁 But then…my parents must have gone momentarily crazy, because then they bought MetalBeard’s Sea Cow!! 😯 Also, one of my brothers bought Super Cycle Chase and Shuff the Mixel, another bought the Bad Cop collectable Minifig, and the last bought the Ice Cream Machine. Which means we got the Piece of Resistance polybag. I, however, bought nothing. I’m holding out for the Flying Flusher 😉

LOL! Your parents must have gotten the LEGO bug! 😀

Yeah, but they snapped out of it pretty quickly. Now my dad won’t let us open it, so when its sold out in a few years we can sell it. NO!!

Oh, no!!! That’s not good! Maybe you should take them to see The LEGO Movie again! They are in danger of becoming like President Business! You gotta save them! 😯

The store at Disney is really awesome! 😀

I’m a little underwhelmed by some of the sets I would normally go for. The police sets look cool. The train station is just ok. I like the food counter but the entire layout looks pretty bland in comparison to the 7937 train station. Also, the creator shops looks a little bland to me as well. I’m just not excited about them. But I am totally gunning for that Ghostbusters set.

Kim, I’m also a bit on the fence on the Creadot Shops. It is very interesting, kind of like a small modular, but I would really have to see it in person. As you said; from pictures it looks a little bland. Yep, Ghostbusters is a must! 😛

okay, I just watched them and X-Men, Ninjago, Ultra Agents, and Star Wars is so AWESOME!!!

    Awesome

    OFF TOPIC:
Do you ever made a articel about inspiration? What to do when you want to build and don’t know what!
    When yes: link please
When no: do one because in the moment I’m in that situation.

    • admin February 23, 2014, 9:39 AM

Sarah has some good articles on getting back into the LEGO hobby and getting inspired to build again: http://thebrickblogger.com/contributors/sarah-reed/

I remember I have also talked about the topic several times, but more like as part of an article on something else. My general way of dealing with lack of inspiration is to pick up a small set and start doodling (like right now I’m doing that with the Mixels), or just get a handful of random parts and see what I can do with them, or looking at pictures of my favorite builders on flickr and see which gives me that spark of inspiration, or even looking at official LEGO sets that I don’t have but they may give me an idea. 🙂

Well, you could google for MOC:s, although there’s a risk the high standards will give you performance anxiety and leave you stunned… =/
