LEGO Ghostbusters set coming soon!

While LEGO is still working out the details on the LEGO Exo Suit, the sixth LEGO CUUSOO set designed by Peter Reid, they did unveil the seventh LEGO CUUSOO project, the #21108 LEGO Ghostbusters set at the recent New York Toy Fair. It’s not every year a pop culture classic like Ghostbusters has a big anniversary (June 8th 2014 is the 30th anniversary of the release of the film), so the team at LEGO CUUSOO has been working overtime to make this set available as soon as possible. 🙂

#21108 LEGO Ghostbusters

I have to say that while I was quite disappointed with the #21103 LEGO DeLorean Time Machine that was recently released under the CUUSOO line, the #21108 LEGO Ghostbusters looks excellent! Below are some details on this upcoming LEGO CUUSOO set.

#21108 LEGO Ghostbusters Set #21108 LEGO Ghostbusters Minifigures

This fun and iconic vehicle from the blockbusting ‘80s movie is fully loaded with all the paranormal detection equipment needed to track down those ghastly ghosts. It also features cool Ghostbusters logo decoration, removable roof, tracking computer and seats for 3 minifigures.

Brent Waller, the creator of this LEGO Ghostbusters set recently shared with the CUUSOO team that he has been a lifelong Ghostbusters fan: “As a child I would recreate Ghostbusters out of LEGO. I had a very primitive Ecto-1, Ecto-1A and the Firehouse as well as all of the main characters with LEGO Classic Space air-tanks for Proton Packs. As an adult rediscovering my love of LEGO, recreating it now was a way of recapturing that unbridled creativity of my youth.” Below is Brent in his Ghostbusters costume, including proton-tank (visit his flickr gallery for more).

The #21108 LEGO Ghostbusters set will be available for purchase in June 2014 for USD $49.99 / CAD $59.99. In the meantime you can check out the other LEGO CUUSOO sets at the Online LEGO Shop.

admin how come my comments have had to be awaiting moderation lately?…did I do something?

    • admin February 21, 2014, 10:33 AM

Jay, it is not your fault. The moderation plugin was updated a few days ago and since then comments with smileys all go under moderation. My tech-guy is working on trying to fix it. If he can’t, he will roll it back to an erlier version. Don’t worry, I keep an eye on moderated comments and I approve them as soon as I see them. 😉

Oh ok. so were the smileys being used as spam?

    • admin February 21, 2014, 11:21 AM

No, smileys are not spam, of course. However right now the plugin is interpreting them as something that needs to go under moderation – for whatever reason. Nobody ever used smileys as spam, nor do I have the filter set up to mark smileys as spam. It is a technical difficulty with the plugin itself. There are so many things happening in the background of a website; it could be that the plugin is broken, or it could be some compatibility issue with other plugins, or a million other reasons. Again, my tech-guy is working on it.

Oh good. I’m tired of not using smileys. So…
The following test is in mockery of the moderation filter:

I think they’re supposed to be devils.

  • Chris of Yoda Archives February 21, 2014, 11:31 AM

This is a awesome looking set. I will pick this one up as early as I can. It’s a little more expensive than I was hoping for but I think it’s worth it.

    • admin February 21, 2014, 11:43 AM

Chris, yeah, I’m planning to get it too. I know the price is a tad high, but with CUUSOO sets we also usually get special packaging, booklet, etc. So I think it is worth it.

  • BLProductions February 21, 2014, 12:03 PM

This set is awesome looking!! I don’t know though, it just looks a little off from the movie (then again i haven’t watched it in a while).
However, I called the Mars Rover, so I won’t get this set. Oh well.

  • ninja of stealth February 21, 2014, 12:36 PM

I watched this movie, hmm a few mounts ago and this LEGO set is very accurate! its da bomb!

  • LK901 February 21, 2014, 12:38 PM

I’ve never watched the film, so I’m not going to be getting the set…

  • Foolish Lego February 21, 2014, 3:11 PM

That thing is absolutely amazing! I will be getting it ASAP. One of my favorite childhood-movies too, so that helps. I didn’t like what TLG did to the delorean, so I’m happy to see this one is so good! 🙂

    • admin February 21, 2014, 5:48 PM

Yeah, that was my response too; nay for the DeLorean, yay for the Ghostbusters! 😀

      • Chris of Yoda Archives February 21, 2014, 8:33 PM

It one of my favorites from childhood as well. We took my dad to see it for Fathers Day.

      • BLProductions February 21, 2014, 8:43 PM

What is everyone’s problem with the DeLorean set? Is it that the fact that the engine hood is so blocky? Or that the doors are fragile? And I thought the minfigures could fit inside it. Hmm… Not that I particularly like it… The figs weren’t right…

        • admin February 21, 2014, 10:51 PM

I really dislike the hood of the DeLorean, and yeah, the door is fragile and it can’t fit both minifigs at the same time. The original concept looked much better in my opinion. Fortunately LEGO seems to have learned from their mistake and did a much better job on this one. 🙂

  • Kim February 21, 2014, 3:17 PM

I’m definitely getting this. It’s unfortunate that there are only 3 seats for the minifigures, so whoever draws the short stick will be hanging on to the ladder outside. But at least the minifigures can sit in the vehicle, unlike the Delorean.

    • admin February 21, 2014, 5:49 PM

Kim, oh, I didn’t notice there are only three seats! I will have to look at some of the Toy Fair videos again! I do remember seeing some footage of the vehicle open. 🙂

      • Chris of Yoda Archives February 21, 2014, 8:35 PM

I think it was in a description of the set.

        • admin February 21, 2014, 10:53 PM

I yeah, LOL! I have to pay more attention reading my own articles! 🙄

          • ninja of stealth February 22, 2014, 11:19 PM

hey admin, I put a comment on here two days ago and its still not here, so is that normal when you put on the smiley faces?

            • admin February 23, 2014, 9:26 AM

I have approved all your comments. Which one are you referring to? I can look it up for you.

  • CaptainChespin February 21, 2014, 4:26 PM

Even though I’m not a fan of GhostBusters, That is a really neat set! 😀

  • Fikko3107 February 23, 2014, 9:18 PM

I really should get round to watching that cult-classic movie…Anyways, thanks to that promise I made to collect every CUUSOO set and spin-offs, I’ll end up trying to get this. Great, now I need to get the Mars Rover, The Minecraft Nether, This and the upcoming Exo-Suit…In addition to the now-currently-overpriced Shinkai Submarine.

    • Håkan February 25, 2014, 7:04 AM

It’s pretty funny, although a large deal of the humor depends on if you like Bill Murray, or not.
