Destruction of the LEGO Fairy Forest…

Remember that beautiful LEGO Fairy Forest by Sean and Steph Mayo (Siercon & Coral)? We first talked about it here: LEGO Fairy Forest – Enchanted & Magical… Well, it is no more. Due to Sean and Steph moving cross-country, they had to dismantle many of their LEGO creations. Because of the size and fragility of the LEGO Fairy Forest it was not practical to carry it for the move, and thus it was a display that had to go. This was one of the first large LEGO projects Sean and Steph worked on, and it has touched the hearts of many who had a chance to see it, and it will touch people one more time but in a different way…

LEGO Fairy Forest by Siercon & Coral

Sean and Steph recorded the destruction of the LEGO Fairy Forest which is very sad (see video below), but also interesting and educational to watch. I guess this is the best way to let go of something that you worked so hard on, but you know it is time to move on to build bigger and better things – which I’m sure Sean and Steph will do. Still, you can hear the pixies crying as their forest falls around them… NOOO!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

What about you? Have you ever had to dismantle a large LEGO set or your own LEGO creation that you really liked? How did you go about it? Did you take it apart piece by piece or take drastic steps like in the video above? How did it make you feel? Was it dreadful, liberating, both? Feel free to share your own experiences in the comment section below! ๐Ÿ™‚

First Comment! Interesting… couldn’t get video, will watch at home and reply to this comment about what I think.

    • admin March 28, 2014, 10:56 AM

Yeah, you have to watch it… it’s sad… by the way it is a Flickr video, so it may load a little slower than YouTube videos. But it does work. Just checked to make sure. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • Lloydguy March 28, 2014, 3:16 PM

Bwahahahahahaaaaa! I’m so sad! It was so cool and big! Whyyyyyyyyyyyy!

  • Strider March 28, 2014, 11:21 AM

Oh. I kind of assumed most people took their things apart, I mean, it seems financially hard to keep big stuff like that together and still make different things, but I guess for them it isn’t a big deal. It is sad I guess, but at least it was documented with pictures. It doesn’t matter how big it is with me, it’ll probably be apart within a day or two to satisfy my next surge of inspiration :P. Though I am keeping some stuff together for stopmotion now. I’m looking forward to the video, it’ll be cool tosee bow they made it.

  • Micho March 28, 2014, 11:28 AM

THE SORTING THEY WILL HAVE TO DO!!!… after you calculate sorting time and energies it might have been more cost effective to rent a U-haul and haul it across the country! ๐Ÿ˜€
Sean and Steph are literally THE faces of the LEGO married-couples community!
Pretty cool how Sean gets to “swim” on a bunch of his LEGO… I felt really sad to see the river plates, they were so detailed, and I created a small stream for my MMV which was really difficult and expensive, so I can only imagine the sadness they must have felt with something that size!

    • admin March 28, 2014, 11:40 AM

Yeah, they will have to probably get a bunch of their friends together to help with the sorting. Otherwise it would take forewer. Not fun either. I’m worried about those baseplates though. The whole table falling on the pieces looked like it could damage a lot of parts, and especially the baseplates. I know how heavy those tables are. ๐Ÿ˜•

      • Micho March 28, 2014, 11:45 AM

YES!!! That is exactly what I thought about too, specially the larger “wall” parts, they are so thin and those wooden tables are heavy… OH THE INHUMANITYYYY!!!!

        • admin March 28, 2014, 11:47 AM

I would die if someone would do this to my LEGO. No… I would first strangle them, then die. Those two are very brave soulds though. They do a lot of crazy stuff that nobody would dare to try.

I used to look at the pictures of that forest so much! It was beautiful!! The waterfall… *starts crying*

      • admin March 28, 2014, 8:05 PM

Yeah, me too. I loved this MOC! ๐Ÿ™

  • ninja of stealth March 28, 2014, 12:14 PM

it was awful watching that, destroying something so incredibly awesome, *sniffle* its gone… awesomeness is gone… ๐Ÿ™„ ANYWAY! that was probably really hard for them. I mean it was hard to see my pharos quest pyramid in ruin on my desk for a year but then I just put it in my extra pieces. hardest decision I ever made ๐Ÿ™„ but after that it made me feel like I accomplished something because that set was sitting there collecting dust for a hole year. yeah I know, you all are probably like, “say whaa?”

    • admin March 28, 2014, 1:10 PM

If a set is collecting dust, it is usually a good time to let it go. Yes, it is a painful process, but it also tends to unlock new creativity. So yeah, I know what you mean by feeling accomplished.

  • BLProductions March 28, 2014, 1:09 PM

To be honest, I have never heard of this until now. But it was painful to watch that be flipped. It looked cool, but if I ever built something that big (which I could not) I would destroy it pretty fast b/c it would use all my pieces. Still, when they were chucking parts around in that vid, I constantly worried about those baseplates just…snapping! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
Probably my biggest MOC was a Super Star Destroyer I made out of my Millennium Falcon, but it was flimsy enough to just take sections off and work from there (it was also almost 3ft long). ๐Ÿ˜• Still, I crush my creations, not flip them off a table! They could have just knocked off the trees with their hands and tore the rest up ๐Ÿ™„ . Just my thoughts. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • Micho March 28, 2014, 1:33 PM

I would have placed it on the floor, dressed up in a giant lizard costume and gone to work on it! LIKE A BOSS!!!

      • admin March 28, 2014, 1:44 PM

        LOL!!!

  • mwhitt80 March 28, 2014, 1:58 PM

I love it and time to get the lego box. The second best thing about legos is that you get to “break” them when you are done.

    • admin March 28, 2014, 2:10 PM

Good point. Although few of us AFOLs are brave enough to go that far. Kids are better at this. ๐Ÿ™„

      • DX ZX KENDO NRG KIMONO TECHNO JAY-MOUTH OF LIGHTNING-SERIOUSLY I HAVE A MOUTH OF LIGHTNING March 28, 2014, 7:36 PM

I never drop my LEGO to destroy them… I take them apart… piece by piece.

  • Legolander March 28, 2014, 3:31 PM

I think Tomska said it best in ASDF…
    Screw Gravity!!!!!!!!
I wonder if any minifigs got PTSD….

  • Glenn March 28, 2014, 3:38 PM

This sort of MOC deconstruction makes me a tiny bit crazy at the thought of possibly breaking pieces. Aside from that it’s quite fun to see.

  • MAJERAL March 28, 2014, 3:57 PM

OMG how sad…. my little Lego mini’s are in shock

    • admin March 28, 2014, 5:01 PM

Yeah, mine too. They all got scared and look at me wondering if I will ever do something like this. I promised them that I won’t…

    • DX ZX KENDO NRG KIMONO TECHNO JAY-MOUTH OF LIGHTNING-SERIOUSLY I HAVE A MOUTH OF LIGHTNING March 28, 2014, 7:37 PM

      My mini’s weren’t watching. I told them it might… ‘scare’ them…

      • admin March 28, 2014, 8:05 PM

Ahhh… that was very considerate of you…

        • DX ZX KENDO NRG KIMONO TECHNO JAY-MOUTH OF LIGHTNING-SERIOUSLY I HAVE A MOUTH OF LIGHTNING March 28, 2014, 10:53 PM

          I know. ๐Ÿ˜‰

      • BLProductions March 28, 2014, 8:37 PM

My minis weren’t watching either. In fact, they have no idea of the MOC (or at least most of them don’t), and worst of all, I haven’t spoken to one of them today, I’ve been so busy. ๐Ÿ™

  • Foolish Lego March 28, 2014, 5:04 PM

    Ah… That’s so sad… ๐Ÿ™

I didn’t realize how big this MOC was btw…

  • Majestic Kai Fan March 28, 2014, 6:03 PM

Yeah, I had to deconstruct my Samaurai mech ( I know it’s not that big) because I had no room for it, luckily six months later I found room for it and I reconstructed it

    • admin March 28, 2014, 7:03 PM

That’s nice when you can rebuild a set later. It is like building a brand new set all over again.

      • DX ZX KENDO NRG KIMONO TECHNO JAY-MOUTH OF LIGHTNING-SERIOUSLY I HAVE A MOUTH OF LIGHTNING March 28, 2014, 7:39 PM

    @admin

Will you be doing a post on the upcoming Simpson minifgures soon? I am so buying every single one!! My most favorite is Mr Burns! He looks perfect!

    • admin March 28, 2014, 8:08 PM

Yes, I already have the post ready. I didn’t want to schedule it for this weekend because of the transfer of our server. I was worried we may loose too many comments. So I scheduled it for Monday. BTW, the server transfer has already been done without any hick-ups. We lost less than 5 comments. I was happy about that.

      • Lloydguy March 28, 2014, 10:02 PM

        lose comments…?

        • admin March 28, 2014, 10:44 PM

Don’t worry, you are on the new site. You won’t loose anything. ๐Ÿ˜‰

      • DX ZX KENDO NRG KIMONO TECHNO JAY-MOUTH OF LIGHTNING-SERIOUSLY I HAVE A MOUTH OF LIGHTNING March 28, 2014, 10:53 PM

        Awesome! ๐Ÿ˜€

  • DX ZX KENDO NRG KIMONO TECHNO JAY-MOUTH OF LIGHTNING-SERIOUSLY I HAVE A MOUTH OF LIGHTNING March 28, 2014, 7:42 PM

I bet they were incredibly sad while sitting on the ground looking at it. I know I would be. They should have a funeral for it.

  • Crazybricks March 28, 2014, 8:32 PM

The whole time I was thinking who is going to pick all of that up
If it were me I would either dump it in a large bag than pour the peices into my lego box or just take the separate baseplates and dump the peices in my lego box

    • Faron* April 6, 2014, 8:48 PM

I was there, and it was a group effort to clean it up. I actually didn’t take terribly long.

      • admin April 7, 2014, 9:10 AM

Oh, you were there? Interesting! Did any parts get damaged?

        • Faron* April 8, 2014, 1:54 PM

Yeah you can see my legs at some point (: It was a surreal moment.

As far as I could see no pieces were damaged. I was actually surprised but all pieces survived the fall.

          • admin April 8, 2014, 1:56 PM

            Did you do the filming?

            • Faron* April 8, 2014, 4:03 PM

No I wasnt fliming, I was the camera shy one in the corner constantly saying “Im not in the shot right!?” “Your gonna cut me out right?” but it was great, the Mayos are great, it was a sad moment though.

              • admin April 8, 2014, 4:07 PM

Yeah, I love those guys! Creativity on steroids! You are lucky you had a chance to see this epic creation in person, and also be there when it finally went back to being a pile of bricks.
