LEGO Star Wars & more promotions in May

May the 4th is the official Star Wars Day with special celebrations and events for Star Wars fans. LEGO also traditionally focuses on Star Wars sets this month; releasing new sets, offering exclusive minifigs and more. Check out the May LEGO Store Calendar below and you see what I mean! ๐Ÿ™‚

LEGO May Star Wars Sale

First of all, the #75059 LEGO Star Wars Sandcrawler will be available on May 3rd. We have talked about this awesome new version of the Sandcrawler before, you can see all the details and watch the designer-video here: LEGO Star Wars Sandcrawler Press-Release.

LEGO May Store Calendar

Also, you will receive a free, very special Darth Revan minifig with LEGO Star Wars purchases of $75 or more, between May 3-5. I had no idea who Revan was, so looked it up on the Star Wars wiki. Apparently he was a Jedi who later turned into a Sith. “Savior, conqueror, hero, villain. You are all things Revanโ€ฆ and yet you are nothing. In the end you belong to neither the light nor the darkness. You will forever stand alone.” – said Darth Malak, another character I’m not familiar with. Anyway, the point is that Darth Revan looks cool! Shop LEGO Star Wars at the Online LEGO Shop.

LEGO May Store Calendar Details

You will also get a free LEGO Star Wars poster on any LEGO Star Wars purchase betweenย May 3-5. And some LEGO Star Wars sets will be 15% off at the same time period, while supplies last. Check them out below, and visit the Online LEGO Shop to take advantage of the discounts.

LEGO Star Wars Sets on Sale

The rest of May will also be sprinkled with various Star Wars related events; the LEGO Club Meeting T-shirt features Anakin Skywalker, May 19-31st there will be LEGO Star Wars droids hidden around LEGO Stores and if you find them all you can enter to win a LEGO Star Wars set. And there is more (see calendar for details)! ๐Ÿ˜€

Shop For LEGO Star Wars Sets

Not all of the promotions are about LEGO Star Wars. The LEGO Simpsons minifigures officially get released today, and for VIP members there is going to be early access to a new exclusive set starting on May 15th. Although it is not specified, I’m pretty sure this is going to be the #10244 LEGO Creator Fairground Mixer in the Expert Builder series – a really interesting set we will talk about shortly. Shop LEGO Simpsons here.

    First comment!!
That Darth Revan is AMAZING!!!! They need to make a Darth Malak to go with it though…

  • BLProductions May 1, 2014, 11:47 AM

Yeah, I had no idea who Darth Revan was (I plan to look him up). I don’t know who Darth Malek is either, though he sounds familiar. I really am only into the movies. ๐Ÿ˜‰ But I must have Revan! I need his hood! ๐Ÿ˜€
And this is my chance! Republic Gunship is 15% off! Yes! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ Although I was hoping to get it 20% off at B&N. ๐Ÿ˜•
Admin, where did you get that discount-thing from? The first line: 7955-Millennium Falcon. Disgrace to the Falcon! It’s 7965! ๐Ÿ˜ก

    • admin May 1, 2014, 1:15 PM

To answer your question, as TBB is an affiliate with LEGO, I get notifications about discounts and such early so I can let our readers know. The discount list in the article is from an email I received from LEGO UK. Strangely, I didn’t get a list from LEGO USA or LEGO Canada. My guess though is that the same sets will be discounted here as well. Also, the email said there will be more sets on sale. These were just the highlights. ๐Ÿ™„

      • BLProductions May 1, 2014, 4:07 PM

Okay, the more sets the better. A lot of people on Brickset are hoping for the Ewok Village to go on sale too. That’d be nice. ๐Ÿ™‚

        • BLProductions May 1, 2014, 4:12 PM

Oh, and the June calendar has been published in the USA. If you click the arrow next to the calendar it will show June. The TLM sets are definitely coming out: http://stores.lego.com/en-us (I think the region has to be set to United States)

          • admin May 1, 2014, 4:40 PM

Yeah, I saw that this morning. I can’t wait for the TML sets. I’m definitely getting Benny’s ship and also the Ghostbusters set. ๐Ÿ˜›

            • BLProductions May 1, 2014, 7:34 PM

I just looked at the June calendar again, and on June 1st there’s a “download the ultra Agents app” and under it it says the same thing as under the TLM sets picture, which I’m 99.9% sure says “Available June 1st”. So that means the Ultra Agents come out on June 1st! ๐Ÿ™‚
I wish the Technic would come out in June, but no, I have to wait till August. ๐Ÿ˜ก ๐Ÿ™

              • admin May 2, 2014, 9:32 AM

Yeah, Technic has been really pushed back this year. My understanding is that it is because they wanted to focus on The LEGO Movie earlier in the year. I really would like to see Agents in person. Some very interesting sets and minifigs. ๐Ÿ˜›

        • admin May 1, 2014, 4:17 PM

Oh, that would be a wonderful set to go on sale! Let’s see if LEGO is listening! Fine, we all know more LEGO the better. We are just trying to rationalize why we should not be running our house over with LEGO. ๐Ÿ™„

          • BLProductions May 1, 2014, 4:52 PM

Yeah, every day I have space problems. Of course, I have like a 6ft by 3ft space to work with, since I have to share the room with my brothers. ๐Ÿ˜•

            • admin May 2, 2014, 9:28 AM

Yeah, pesky brothers, and if you have one like mine, you have to watch your minifigs wondering over to his side of the room. ๐Ÿ™„

  • ninja of stealth May 1, 2014, 12:42 PM

yeah, I don’t know who Darth Revan is either but I do know is that it’s an awesome minifigure! ๐Ÿ˜Ž and wait, your getting the republic gunship too? I hope (although I doubt it,) it doesn’t get sold out!

  • Kim May 1, 2014, 1:54 PM

I’d love to get that early possible release of the Fairground Mixer but unfortunately I will not have a spare $150.00 on May 15! XD but someday soon I hope to get it. At least sometime before Christmas.

    • admin May 1, 2014, 2:19 PM

Kim, I’m sure the Fairground Mixer will be around for a while. For large exlusives I always recommend waiting for the double VIP points promotion because it basically doubles your savings. June is also going to be an expensive month with The LEGO Movie sets coming out, as well as the Ghostbuster set and I think also the new Minecraft set. I think it might be time for me to upgrade to a better paying job. ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Kim May 1, 2014, 2:28 PM

Good point, it probably will be around for a while, admittedly I’ve had my eye on the Parisian Restaurant all year too not to mention some older of the modular buildings, those I’m a little more concerned will get discontinued before I’ve had a chance to buy them. Do they usually email when it’s double points? I’m not sure if I’ve ever noticed that.

        • admin May 1, 2014, 2:39 PM

Kim, if you are on the VIP mailing list, yes, you will get an email. I also update our readers about it. There was a double VIP points period in March. It is not that often that it comes up; usually twice a year.

I’m also eyeing a couple of the Modulars. The Parisian Restaurant and the Town Hall. I don’t really like the others. I was going to buy them during the last double VIP period, but then I decided against it. I really would like to see what the next Modular is before I make a commitment. We should know that by the end of the year. I’m hoping that Jamie Berard continue with another amazing set. The Parisian Restaurant is really magical. ๐Ÿ˜€

The next Modular that will be retired will be the Emporium. I’m not sure when, but it is the next oldest one. I have also heard some rumors that the Town Hall may be retired early as LEGO fans were not happy about the significantly higher price, and a lot of people don’t like the set as much as the others. For me it is my second favorite after the Parisian Restaurant. I think the colors are nice. ๐Ÿ™‚

          • Kim May 1, 2014, 3:19 PM

Good to know. I really like Town Hall. Sad that that one isn’t as popular. I should probably gun for the Emporium then because I know I really like that one. The trick sometimes with Lego I guess is prioritizing, kind of like when I’m done re-building all my old sets, prioritizing getting older sets or parting them together vs buying new ones. I’m coming to that point where I really have to decide my level of devotion to the hobby in relation to other things I enjoy. I think Lego will win out in the end as I feel so good inside even just sorting bricks. =D

            • admin May 1, 2014, 3:34 PM

Kim, yes, this is a major issue with LEGO, and in fact being overwhelmed by the amount of new sets coming out, and the money and space they require, are actually reasons why some people burn out and quit the hobby.

It is important to keep a balance – as you said – with other things you enjoy in your life. I also prioritize what I buy and what I build. It would not be possible otherwise. Also, I actually really dislike cluttered spaces and too much stuff. Worrying about what else is out there that I will miss out on, instead of focusing on what I really like, is a sure way to loose the joy of the hobby.

Funny thing; I also like to sort LEGO. Sometimes in the evening when I have some time to build, but I’m too tired, I just sort. It is very relaxing. Kind of like a mediation almost. I’m sure there is some psychological explanation of how this works, but I don’t really care. All I know is that I like to do it. ๐Ÿ˜€

              • The Watcher May 1, 2014, 3:59 PM

Lego. Providing psychological comfort since 1958. ๐Ÿ™‚

              • Kim May 1, 2014, 4:07 PM

Oh on another note, I’ve been meaning to mention this, I try to subscribe to the comments feed and I always get some kind of xml xlm? error. Is it my browser? Is there a better browser to be using with this site?

                • admin May 1, 2014, 4:15 PM

Hm… not sure what that could be. I just checked myself and I didn’t see any problems, nor have anyone mentioned it before. I have checked both in Internet Explorer and Firefox. Clicking on the button supposed to bring up a window to subscribe to the comment feed. What browser are you using?

                  • Kim May 1, 2014, 4:24 PM

Chrome. That could be the problem.

                  • Kim May 1, 2014, 4:30 PM

Yup that would be the problem. Weird. I hate how one generally has to use every single browser available to do everything they want to do on the internet.

                    • admin May 1, 2014, 4:35 PM

I know what you mean. I use IE 95% of the time and I never had a problem, but I know it is not considered the safest browser. So for that 5% of websites I don’t entirely trust, I use Firefox. I never tried Chrome. But yeah, most people I know have at least three browsers installed. ๐Ÿ˜ก

                    • LK901 May 2, 2014, 4:08 AM

                      IE is c***!
Chrome, or Firefox. They are hundreds of thousands of times better (and W3C standards compliant!)
Open-source is better than anything else!

  • The Watcher May 1, 2014, 2:04 PM

You need to play the original Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and then read the book Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan, to really know Revan as a character. It’s amazing, the character development is superb, and there’s a nice twist at the end of that game that will surprise you. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • admin May 1, 2014, 2:20 PM

Thanks for mentioning that. Very interesting! ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Bohrok Tru May 1, 2014, 7:06 PM

Plus in the books he has a totally metal look to him! I don’t recall coming across a picture of Darth Revan with actual SKIN showing! =P

  • Yoda Archives May 1, 2014, 2:38 PM

Darth Revan is a great minifig. Thanks for posting the set that will be on sale. I was hoping the Rancor set was on sale. I plan to get AT-RT and couple other sets.
I got a couple Simpsons figs find this morning. Saving my budget for Star Wars stuff this weekend.

    • admin May 1, 2014, 2:57 PM

The email I got from LEGO in regards to what sets will be on sale acctually set that this list is just a sample and there will be more. ๐Ÿ˜‰

      • Yoda Archives May 1, 2014, 4:48 PM

Thanks I got the VIP preview email and am waiting for their sale email on the 3rd.

        • Yoda Archives May 3, 2014, 1:12 AM

The sale in up now! Rancor set was 10% off, not as much of a sale as I was hoping, but I got it and another set plus a key chain to hit free shipping, and free Darth Revan.
Now no more LEGO or toys for a while.

          • admin May 3, 2014, 11:17 AM

There were actually some sets 50% off, but they sold out within 5 minutes after midnight. Glad to hear you were able to get at least one set you wanted! A lot of people are upset that they missed out. ๐Ÿ˜•

  • jaisonline May 1, 2014, 2:40 PM

    hi admin,

where did you get that list of star wars sets on-sale for 15% off? a US-based lego source? do you trust the list?

    • admin May 1, 2014, 3:01 PM

As I have mentioned in a previous reply, the list is directly from LEGO as we are an affiliate with them and get notifications about promotions early. So yes, I definitely trust the source. However it came from LEGO UK. LEGO USA and LEGO Canada didn’t sent a list yet. I’m assuming it will be the same though, although at this point that is not 100%. Also, according to the affiliate email I received, these are not the only sets that will be one sale. These are just the only ones they specified. ๐Ÿ˜‰

      • nigel May 1, 2014, 3:05 PM

I received a mailshot in the post regarding this directly from LEGO so it’s definitely on!

      • jaisonline May 1, 2014, 3:13 PM

        thanks

  • nigel May 1, 2014, 3:04 PM

Oddly enough, the Simpsons Minifigures are already on sale in the UK… Also, I read somewhere (maybe here??) that ToysRUs will have 20% off some of the Star Wars items. Hope that helps someone!

  • Jeff Mack May 1, 2014, 5:00 PM

Hey, I don’t think those will be the sales for the US. Like Admin mentioned, it was for the UK, but from rumors we have been hearing it will not be the same sales. I am interested to see what they are though.

    • jaisonline May 1, 2014, 5:43 PM

      Hi Jeff,

      Unfort., I agree.

Last yr, Lego US. only put 10127 B-Wing on-sale because it wasn’t selling at $199.99 retail. Then again, 2014 is the first calendar year Lego has not allowed retailers to discount exclusives so maybe they will throw us a bone.

    • admin May 2, 2014, 9:29 AM

Jeff, nice to have you over! Yeah, I’m also really curious to see what will be the final list. We only have to sleep one more to find out. ๐Ÿ˜›

  • LloydTheRulerOfNinjago May 1, 2014, 5:52 PM

I believe Darth Reevan is from the star Wars Old Republic video game…I’m not sure about that, but a similar character looks exactly like him in the Old Republic video game.

  • CaptainChespin May 2, 2014, 1:08 AM

I’m not so excited about the Simpsons series. =/ Here are my reasons:

    1. The Simpsons show is inappropriate, and yes I ‘don’t have to buy them,’ but the point is, I don’t want to buy them. ๐Ÿ˜› Sound like I’m restating myself? Good. ๐Ÿ˜› What I meant was I LOVE the collectible minifigures series, but this series I don’t like, so big picture: there’s a large period of time for me without those beautiful, shiny, crisp, new minifigures. ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ˜› ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ™

    2. It’s un-creative. Even the LM series was borderline for me. I would much rather have some original minifigures than ones based off of movies. ๐Ÿ˜‰

On a completely unrelated note, who signed up for LMO Open Beta testing? ๐Ÿ™‚ I did! ๐Ÿ˜€ I can’t wait! ๐Ÿ˜€

    • admin May 2, 2014, 9:39 AM

LEGO getting into The Simpsons has certainly been controversial. I think LEGO did a great job with both the minifigs and The Simpsons House set, however this doesn’t fix the problem that a lot of people think the collaboration is just wrong. On the other hand, for Simpsons fans the set and the minifigs have been a dream come true.

I agree with you on the collectible minifigs. I also prefer unique ones instead of them being tied to any series. I only got a couple from TLM series, and none from The Simpsons. The next series will be related to the LMO game, so that should be more interesting. Or at least I hope…

Let me know how you like the Beta. I saw it advertised in the latest LEGO Club Magazine I just received a couple of days ago, but I don’t think I will have time for testing. However I’m still curious. ๐Ÿ˜›

      • CaptainChespin May 2, 2014, 2:07 PM

I agree, the house looks like it was really well done. I mean, what LEGO set isn’t? ๐Ÿ˜› It still doesn’t change my feelings for it though. ๐Ÿ™

I got five. I used your ever helpful tips to get them too! ๐Ÿ˜€ I got Scribble Face Bad Cop, Marsha, Hard Hat Emmet, Panda Guy, and Larry. ๐Ÿ˜€

The LEGO Club Magazine sort of… lied. ๐Ÿ˜› Beta isn’t out yet. =/ SIGN-UPS for Open Beta is, but even that didn’t come out until a few days later! >_<
I'll gladly tell you all about it once it comes out! ^_^ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

  • ninja5 May 2, 2014, 7:14 AM

Brickforge is also doing a May 4 sale. They are selling all Star Wars items on sale for 50% off. Also, there’s a new minifig giveaway. Check their website for more details.

    • admin May 2, 2014, 9:40 AM

      Thanks for mentioning that! ๐Ÿ™‚
