LEGO Star Wars MicroFighters – more coming!

The first wave of LEGO Star Wars MicroFighters released at the beginning of the year are proving to be quite popular. With six cute little sets, the LEGO Star Wars MicroFighters series is a nice way of colleting LEGO Star Wars sets and minifigures if you are limited in cash or display-space, plus they are great to play around with. And now there are rumors that more are coming in 2015! 🙂

LEGO Star Wars MicroFighters

The first time LEGO experimented with a collectible series of small LEGO Star Wars sets was with LEGO Star Wars Planets (see: 2013 LEGO Star Wars Planets Series 3 & 4). Each set contained a printed globe piece, representing a planet, with a micro-size Star Wars ship and a minifigure. The globe could be opened to store everything inside, and it could also be hung up like an ornament. LEGO Star Wars Planets had three sets with a total of four series released, before the line was discontinued and replaced with the LEGO Star Wars MicroFighters.

Although I liked the LEGO Star Wars Planets series, I think the LEGO Star Wars MicroFighters are even better. The fact that the ships are small, but can still fit a minifigure makes the playability of the sets so much more fun. Don’t we all love to zoom around with small spaceships and make whooshing sounds? Adults, raise your paws too – we know you are doing it when no-one is looking! 🙄

The first wave of LEGO Star Wars MicroFighters includes six sets: the #75028 LEGO SW Clone Turbo Tank, the #75029 LEGO SW AAT, the #75030 LEGO SW Millennium Falcon (this is my favorite), the #75031 LEGO SW TIE Interceptor, the #75032 LEGO SW X-wing Fighter (my second favorite), and the #75033 LEGO SW Star Destroyer. All of these are currently available at the Online LEGO Shop.

As we get closer to the end of the year, rumors of 2015 LEGO sets are already surfacing. This includes the 2015 LEGO Star Wars sets, and amongst them a second wave of LEGO Star Wars MicroFighters with six more sets: the #75072 LEGO SW ARC-170 Starfighter, the #75073 LEGO SW Vulture Droid, the #75074 LEGO SW Snowspeeder (I’m really looking forward to this one), the #75075 LEGO SW AT-AT, the #75056 LEGO SW Republic Gunship, and the #75077 LEGO SW Homing Spider Droid. There are no pictures yet, but I’m sure we will get some before the end of the year.

LEGO Star Wars MicroFighters 2

Now that we know that there is going to be a second (and possibly more) waves of the LEGO Star Wars MicroFighters, it is a good time to complete your series of the first wave (if you don’t have them already). My experience is that as soon as it becomes known that a series continues, people immediately want to go back and get all the sets from the very beginning, which of course wipes off any remaining stock from store-shelves, and raises prices on the secondary market. We have seen this both with small sets like the LEGO Mixels (where the first wave quickly sold out) and the LEGO Collectible Minifigures (Series 1 is still demanding the highest resale prices), and also very large sets like the LEGO Modular Buildings. I’m not even going to talk about how insane the prices are on the first couple those LEGO Modular sets… anyhow, here is a funny commercial about the LEGO Star Wars MicroFighters. Enjoy!

So if you have any interest in the LEGO Star Wars MicroFighters, I would suggest you pick them up before it becomes widely known that there will be future series, or at least get the ones that you really like. They should still be available at LEGO retailers, official LEGO stores, and they are definitely listed (for now) at the Online LEGO Shop.

I have the Falcon and the Star Destroyer and I love them both. I think that they really look like the real thing, just smaller. I look forward to getting the Vulture Droid and the ARC-170 Starfighter. My brother will really want the AT-AT. I wonder where the pilot will sit in the Gunship? I also still think that LEGO should make a Cloud Car.

Carbo, the Cloud Car is a nice idea! Would love to see that! 🙂

I really like the ad:P. But I am really excited for the next wave. I only have the AAT, but in my opinion, second waves are usually the same or better with LEGO.:)

Oh, off-topic, but I got the Jedi-Interceptor (newest one) a few hours ago :D)

I wonder what the minifigure will be for the Vulture Droid, since they’re droids, so they don’t need pilots.

Yeah, Vulture Droids do have an integrated droid brain, but since it must include a figure, I would guess either another Battle Droid Pilot, or a Neimoidian Warrior (like what comes in this year’s Vulture Droid 75041). 😉

I want an AT-AT or an Army of AT-ATs and the snowspeeder. I also need to pick up a Millennium Falcon soon.

I’m personally not a huge fan of these. The image of a giant Han Solo with his behind stuck in the Millenium Falcon’s cockpit just doesn’t feel right. I can see how the playabillity improves, but I’d rather buy the planet series sets, simply because their proportions are better… But hey, I guess I have ocd like that 😛

I hope they come out with a micro Snowspeeder from Empire Strikes Back. I have the Millennium Falcon and TIE Interceptor that I just picked up because I thought they were neat. I may end up picking one set up per month. X Wing Fighter is next on my list.

Cool, i have the Millennium Falcon the clone turbo tank and the X-Wing, One of the reasons i keep buying them is for the mini-figs, And also because you can get the clone trooper with no markings with it on the turbo tanks, (Big fan of the clone troopers) Also i am really looking forward to the new micro-fighter sets.

Hi, I’m back from vacation! And there’s a thunderstorm 3 hours after we get back. 😕
I like the idea of the Microfighters, but the actual products don’t look that great. The Interceptor and X-wing are the best with the minifigs, and the Falcon is the worst, b/c Han pretty much sits on top of the ship. Still, that’s the only one I’d get, for my Falcon collection.
I’m looking forward to this next wave, especially the Gunship and ARC-170. But I can’t see why we get another Snowspeeder, besides to go with another AT-AT. Hopefully they live up to expectations, though.

Nice to have you back! Hope you had an awesome vacation! 🙂

Yes, I suppose I did. A lot of windy days, and Tuesday last week until Friday were good enough days, despite the hurricane coming up the coast. 😕 Wednesday was the best day. 🙂 I also was able to create a list of Star Wars vehicles that I want to design in LEGO for sets using a cross-sections book. It got rather long. 🙂

That’s the thing with Star Wars; once you get into it there is no stopping! There is just so much to build! 🙄
