2015 LEGO DC super heroes & villains

LEGO DC Super Heroes sets have been always a bit on the weak side. By this I mean that they have been usually centered around Batman. There are a couple of sets with Superman, Wonder Woman and a few other characters, but a lot of DC Super Heroes have been completely ignored. This is about to change in 2015 when we will get a whole range of new LEGO DC Super Heroes for the first time! 🙂

LEGO DC Super Heroes & Villains 2015

There are five new LEGO DC Super Heroes sets scheduled for next year that we know about. None of them are particularly large, or that interesting as far as the sets themselves. The focus seems to be providing more unique minifigures for collectors; like the first-ever LEGO Supergirl, Hawkman, Cyborg, Brainiac, Sinestro, Black Manta, Captain Cold, Darkseid and Gorilla Grodd. And that is very exciting! And based the image above by LEGO comics artist Paul Lee, you can see that there is room for even more!

LEGO DC Super Heroes

#76025 LEGO GREEN LANTERN VS. SINESTRO: This is the only set so far that has been officially announced by LEGO and we have pictures for. It includes the highly coveted LEGO Green Lantern minifig that previously only appeared as a very limited exclusive (with a slightly different printing), Batman in space-suit and Sinestro. Green Lantern’s Jet is actually pretty sweet and I think this set is going to be popular.

#76025 LEGO Super Heroes Set

#76026 LEGO GORILLA GRODD GOES BANANAS:This is a medium-ish set and includes an awesome-looking Batman Mech Suit, plus Wonder Woman’s Invisible Jet! Besides Batman and Wonder Woman, there is also Captain Cold, the Flash, and a Gorilla Grodd large figure.

#76027 LEGO BLACK MANTA DEEP SEA STRIKE: Here we have a Batman Submarine, a Black Manta Submarine and four minifigs; Black Manta, Aquaman, Batman, and Robin (in diving gear).

#76028 LEGO SUPER HEROES DARKSEID INVASION: Another medium- ish set that includes Green Arrow, Hawkman, Cyborg, Superman and a Darkseid large figure. This set is going to be popular with collectors for the minifigs; Green Arrow previously only appeared as a very limited exclusive, and the other minifigs are brand new!

#76040 LEGO SUPER HEROES BRAINIAC ATTACK: This is a smaller set and it includes four minifigures; Brainiac, Martian Manhunter, Supergirl, and Superman.

LEGO DC Super Heroes Villains

Preliminary images of all of these LEGO DC Super Heroes sets have leaked already and we should be seeing official pictures soon. In the meantime you can check out the current selection of LEGO DC Super Heroes sets at the Online LEGO Shop.

Etrigan would be cool… Also, Vertigo characters such as John Constantine, Swamp Thing, Morpheus and Jesse Custer, but I guess they’d be considered too adult…

    • Håkan September 25, 2014, 10:48 AM

Some more: Captain Marvel, Darkseid, Mr Mxyzptlk, Bizarro-World Super-Man, Angel and the Ape, Power-Girl…

    • BLProductions September 25, 2014, 10:50 AM

Swamp Thing? There’s only one swampy super hero: http://brickset.com/minifigs/mof014/Swamp-Creature 😉

      • Håkan September 25, 2014, 10:55 AM

Swamp Creature, yeah, I remember… Based on “The Creature from the Black Lagoon”, it seems…

Marvel actually did a ripoff of Swamp Thing called Man-Thing, that allegedly featured in a film much better than expected…

    • MasterShazam September 28, 2014, 9:47 PM

I don’t think it’s about them being too adult I think it’s just because they’re not popular enough to the mass audience. I think it’s safe to assume that if the characters don’t appear in the DCAU then they’re not recognizable to the majority. Heck, there are very few people that actually know who the Martian Manhunter is, it’s as if they watch the show and remember every other leaguer but him.

    • MasterShazam September 28, 2014, 9:51 PM

I don’t think it has anything to do with being too adult I think they’re just not popular enough. I’m pretty sure it’s safe to assume that any character that hasn’t appeared in the DCAU is non-recognizable to the majority. Personally, I think that if Constantin or any of the relevant Veritgo characters were to appear as minifigs they’d be a promotional character and by relevant I mean relevant to the New 52.

      • Fikko3107 September 29, 2014, 11:30 AM

I’m a huge DC nut, and I would appreciate a widely available Captain Marvel minifigure (Yes, 4 years into the New 52, I still refuse to call him “Shazam”.) However, one minifigure I really want, one that will definitely pull me out of this current s0rt-of dark ages of mine is none other than my favorite DC superhero, the Nuclear Man himself, Firestorm! Come on LEGO. At least give him to me in LEGO Batman 3…

  • BLProductions September 25, 2014, 10:47 AM

I called Green Lantern vs. Sinestro, but now I’m regretting it. 😕 A Batman mech-suit?! Awesome. 🙂 However, the Riddler Chase comes with the Flash, and we got the Martian Manhunter back in March.
Also, is it possible that the same thing will happen to Green Lantern vs. Sinestro that happened to the Exo-suit? Meaning that it sold out instantly.

  • ninja of stealth September 25, 2014, 12:06 PM

Looking forward to some of these minifigures! I want the Cyborg minifigure, and maybe a few others, but mainly Cyborg. I wish they would make the teen titans, I would buy them in a “Flash!” get it? 🙄

  • ninja of stealth September 25, 2014, 12:07 PM

When do you guys think the new wave of sets will be available? Early December?

    • admin September 25, 2014, 1:37 PM

Well, January sets usually start to show up in December at various retailers. Usually TRU is the first to put them on the shelves. LEGO stores themselves stick to the official release dates.

      • ninja of stealth September 26, 2014, 12:24 PM

        okay. Thanks. 😀

Very sweet! I saw this picture the other day and was thinking of your little checkered scooter: https://www.flickr.com/photos/cameraaddict/4774933884/

I’m planning to get the purple one, the blue one and the red one too. And of course the checkered. But you don’t have the pink one with the flowers. That was my first BF scooter. 😉

      • Kim September 25, 2014, 2:06 PM

Neat picture! That’s what I’d like to use the scooter for but I’m not sure it’s stable enough to stand with unbalanced weight on it. But I’ll just have to play around with it.

I’d like to get all of the scooters of course so that pink one would be cool if it was still available but I’m not sure I can get all the designs fast enough before they discontinue and come out with new ones. They said they were going to start offering some new ones.

        • admin September 25, 2014, 2:23 PM

Oh, really? That’s interesting! Would love to see some more designs! I actually like these schooters better than the official LEGO one. The BrickForge scooters are smaller and cuter. Yes, balancing them is a bit tricky. I haven’t figured out how to make a stand for them yet. They are fine sitting on the shelf, but if I knock against the shelf they easily fall over. If you come up with something let me know. 🙂

          • Kim September 25, 2014, 5:40 PM

Actually, for the scooter taxi, I could probably rig some kind of sidecar. That would help with balance.

            • Håkan September 25, 2014, 6:02 PM

The scooters seem to lack many useful connection points, though. Hard to construct one that feels seamless…

I’m not sure on if there are any wheel holder parts still in production.

              • Kim September 25, 2014, 7:53 PM

Yeah it definitely wouldn’t be seamless. Maybe that could add to the charm. Can’t afford a cab? Ride in discomfort of the makeshift scooter taxi.

                • admin September 25, 2014, 8:28 PM

This reminds me of traveling in India! 🙄

            • admin September 25, 2014, 8:27 PM

Good idea! I’m going to try that too! 😀

  • NinjagoNerd36 September 25, 2014, 1:37 PM

SQEAAAAL! Finally! Some decent DC minifigs! 😀

  • SamuelPeterson September 25, 2014, 6:18 PM

You know, I would really love it if they would release more Marvel superheroes. Maybe in collectable packets.

    • Håkan September 25, 2014, 6:42 PM

Oh yeah. Spot, Puck, Nightcrawler, Kraven, Thing, Ghost Rider, Deathlok, Dr Strange, Howard the Duck…

There are no comparable info or leaks for the Marvel sets, but it seems most of them will be connected to the Avengers: Age of Ultron movie, and I believe most of the main characters have received minifigs, already…

      • Håkan September 25, 2014, 7:02 PM

Checking out the Marvel page on Brickipedia, I have to add Kingpin, Squirrel Girl and Galactus… As well as Shadowcat, Vulture, White Rabbit, Mysterio and Silvermane…

    • SamuelPeterson September 26, 2014, 12:37 AM

Yeah, I have a bunch of X-Men and what not I would love to see become minifigs. Specifically, I would love to see Beast, Punisher, Rogue, Angel, Mystique, Avalanche, Apocalypse, Mr. Sinister, Cannonball, Fandral, Odin, Squirrel Girl!, Kraven, and Supergiant. Really, it just seems like Marvel has so many great characters that Lego would be able to put into at least ten series of minifigs.

      • Narrator_Bob September 27, 2014, 11:14 AM

I hope that they make gambit eventually.

        • Håkan September 28, 2014, 3:55 PM

That would be a wild card venture.

      • MasterShazam September 28, 2014, 9:43 PM

My guess is that the next X-Men set will be released when X-Men: Apocalypse comes out in 2016 like the Sentinels set this year with DoFP. I’m hoping they release some X-Men characters that don’t come out as promotional figures.

      • Meneldur October 17, 2014, 8:55 AM

That would be pretty awesome. It looks like Brian Singer is trying to make the X-Men film series the highest grossing series ever made. He’s also planning a spin-off Deadpool movie.
LEGO should make Vision, Ultron, Black Panther, Ant-man, and definitely Beast. And maybe Ms. Marvel.
Btw, Marvel Studios is hinting that it might put the Civil War into a movie. And Spider man might be in the LEGO Movie 2.

  • Brad September 26, 2014, 12:33 AM

I plan on getting the Green Lantern set. I wasn’t really into the Martian Manhunter freebie minifigure, but I like the one in the LB3 video game preview images, so I hope that’s the one in the set. I’m focusing on collecting the original Justice League Super Seven, so I’m not really interested in the rest of them. If the Martian Manhunter is just a re-release of the freebie, then I’ll settle for a “Super Six.” If I do that, then my Justice League could be the new one or the old one, since the difference is just Martian Manhunter and Cyborg.

    • Jordan September 28, 2014, 7:57 PM

Those aren’t the only differences. Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, and possibly Flash/Aquaman will be from the New 52 line. (You probably already know). The Martian Manhunter we got as an exclusive has the New 52 print, so really the only Golden Age JL figures we have are Supes, WW, B-man, Flash/Aquaman and Shazam.

  • Narrator_Bob September 27, 2014, 11:19 AM

Finally the flash gets a major role in a set. He’s kind of hard to make sets about because he doesn’t have any sort of vehicle and most of his villains don’t either.

    • Håkan September 28, 2014, 3:58 PM

Can’t the Flash run through time and such? You could have a diorama with a caveman, an Egyptian pharaon, a knight, a pirate and a cowboy etc.

  • Jordan September 28, 2014, 8:02 PM

Hey everyone, some advice would really be appreciated!

So with the announcement of the New 52 JL sets/figures, should I sell my classic JL figures now and avoid a possible price drop or keep them and wait and maybe see a profit? Also, do you guys think they will make both the Flash and Aquaman from the New 52 with different prints than their previous release? Thanks!

    • Håkan September 29, 2014, 6:29 AM

I’m always a bit wary about the idea of collecting for profit. It’s generally a lot harder than it’s made out to be.

Then, I don’t believe in the idea that the prices will drop since the suits are outdated, and there’s no longer an interest. My impression is that neither Lego nor Superhero fans react that way.

  • Diamond655 October 12, 2014, 7:13 PM

Can you showcase the Marvel sets yet, or have they not yet been leaked?

    • admin October 12, 2014, 7:17 PM

Only the names have been revealed. No pictures (not even preliminary) yet.

      • Diamond655 October 13, 2014, 11:33 AM

Wow. Looks like it’s either about Avengers Assemble or poking fun at a sequel to The Avengers.

        • admin October 13, 2014, 12:54 PM

I was reading that these are Avengers Age of Ultron sets. I have no idea what that means, but hopefully you do. 😉

          • Diamond655 October 15, 2014, 6:33 PM

Isn’t Age of Ultron the next Avengers movie? YES! Future Avengers movie confirmed. Main villain of 2015 Wave 1 of Marvel 2015 confirmed. Ultroniminati confirmed.

            • admin October 15, 2014, 6:49 PM

Yes, Age of Ultron is scheduled for release in May of next year. 😉

              • Diamond655 October 20, 2014, 10:59 AM

I just wonder if Ultron will be a tiny robot minifigure or a big, hulk-sized robot.

  • Raymond weber February 4, 2015, 1:29 AM

I love super heroes, so I hope they make Lego mini figures of all the superheroes, blue beetle, booster gold, black canary etc.
