LEGO BIONICLE confirmed & teaser-video!

If you have been keeping track of LEGO news, you know that a few days ago LEGO started teasing fans with a countdown for a major announcement on several social platforms. Between the initial teaser and the actual announcement that happened yesterday LEGO fans were furiously speculating of what the reveal was going to be about. However LEGO goofed up on the first teaser-image, so it became pretty clear early on that the announcement was going to be about the return of LEGO BIONICLE! 🙂

LEGO Bionicle 2015

Even with the unintended spoiler the chatter amongst LEGO fans continued until yesterday’s final reveal. Although we already knew about the return of LEGO BIONICLE previously and had some preliminary pictures (see: The Return of LEGO BIONICLE in 2015!), it is still exciting to hear the confirmation from LEGO. And of course we still don’t know what the story is going to be so there is plenty of room to speculate about that, LEGO shared the following short video as well as teaser for the storyline that you can find below the video.

It is told that there exists a mask that will grant its bearer unspeakable power. Made from raw magic and solid gold, it is an artifact crafted with absolute precision and timeless skill – it is known as the Mask of Creation’’ Welcome to the World of LEGO BIONICLE. We are ready to take you on an epic quest to find the Masks of Power. It will be a journey you will never forget…

So there you have it! LEGO BIONICLE is confirmed to return to 2015 with a unique storyline! BIONICLE was known for its incredible, absorbing and complex story that unfolded over almost a decade and an entire generation grew up on – so it is super exciting to see its return. What stories and legends remain untold? We should find out in the months to come!

So what do you think? Are you excited about the return of LEGO BIONICLE? Any ideas on what the story is going to be like? Does the video-clip above gives you some clues? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below! 😉

The whole announcement was rather underwhelming. We already knew Bionicle was coming back, why bother announcing it? But that’s just me: I’m not too much of a Bionicle fan (excepting Metus), so I’m a little skeptical. 😐 But I wonder if they’ll make that helmet piece out of real gold for the set it comes with. 😉

Remember that statistically speaking very few people knew about the return of BIONICLE. It is just us, who are constatly watching LEGO news. For most people this announcement is the first time they hear about it, and the general public probably won’t know until next year.

OK. I was reading the comments for the announcement on Facebook and most of the people there were pretty surprised.

  • Maethorneth September 20, 2014, 2:42 PM

Super excited! Can’t wait for 2015 when the sets come out. I find it odd that the mask appears to attach via pins on the side like Knights Kingdom helmets. It’s interesting to speculate about.

    • admin September 20, 2014, 2:51 PM

Yeah, it will be interesting to see what is the next announcement. 😛

  • Håkan September 20, 2014, 3:17 PM

Hmmm, I bought a box of second hand Bionicle / Hero Factory stuff cheap on a thrift store last month. I should start constracting some more…

I wonder if there’ll be more teasers soon, considering there have been preliminary images of the series leaked already..

Off-topic but I just scored the greatest deal on some used Lego. Several hundred dollars worth of sets for $100. The Queen Anne, Marina, Bank and Money Transfer, Winter Village Cottage, Forest Police Station and several others including some unknowns. I’m so excited!!!

    • BLProductions September 20, 2014, 9:24 PM

And might I ask “Where and How did you get this greatest deal?”

      • admin September 20, 2014, 9:27 PM

Same question… spill the beans, Kim! We are sitting at the edge of our seats! 😛

      • Kim September 20, 2014, 10:25 PM

I will now have 2 police stations added to my collection for a total of 4 police stations. My Lego City will be the safest you’ve ever seen!

        • admin September 20, 2014, 10:28 PM

I hope it doesn’t turn into a police state. 🙄

          • Håkan September 21, 2014, 6:28 AM

Haven’t there been about 10 differents police stations released so far? Seems to be a high risk.

My best friend’s sister’s daughter’s Lego collection. She just turned 14 and was too old for Lego, while me at 33 am not too old for Lego. She was saving for a trip to Washington D.C. for school. Her mom and I agreed $100 was fair. In the interim of this posting, I was just at Walmart where I found the new minifgure series was available. I didn’t have time to try to feel them out but I got 16 of them and tried to grab from the box in different places to make sure they weren’t bunched together. While I was in line checking out the cashier and I started talking about them and a little boy behind me had some and started telling me about his Lego collection. He asked me, why do adults like Lego? And I don’t quite remember what I said but he seemed satisfied with the answer. I had such an awesome Lego day today.

    • admin September 20, 2014, 10:28 PM

That is all very awesome! Yes, it sounds like a great LEGO day! I should go and check my WM for the Series 12 minifigs. I also heard they are avaiable at Walgreens. Enjoy your loot! Oh, and that kid is awesome! Kids have such great questions! 😛

      • Håkan September 21, 2014, 6:20 AM

Ah. I had a similar experience with my neighbors. At first, I got a box for free, but then I decided I should pay something for it, at least… =/

  • Kim September 20, 2014, 10:52 PM

I just remembered, he did ask me what you do when you get a the same one and I said, you give them or trade them to your friends that don’t have that one. I did pretty well with my random grab. Only duped 5. Those will go to my brother. I’m not trying to collect the whole series so I am only missing 3 that I want. Gold Prospector, Spooky Girl, and Pizza Guy. I might try to feel for them or guy them from a re-seller.

    • Kim September 20, 2014, 11:01 PM

oops correction, 12/16, only duped 4.

    • admin September 21, 2014, 9:16 AM

Nice! Looks like your strategy of grabbing random ones worked out pretty good! 🙂

  • RocketMan637 September 21, 2014, 8:39 AM

They’re going back to the originals I think, so Toa Jaller, Toa Lewa Toa Kopaka, Toa Galu, Toa Onua and Toa Tahu (I think)

    • legozebra September 21, 2014, 1:33 PM

Actually, Toa Jaller was from 2006… So the originals were Tahu (Toa of Fire), Gali (Toa of Water), Lewa (Toa of Air), Kopaka (Toa of Ice), Pohatu (Toa of Stone), and Onua (Toa of Earth

      • Bohrok Tru September 22, 2014, 7:43 PM

Indeed… But oddly enough, the storyline kinda started in the middle… The Toa (turaga) Metru are older than the Toa Nuva (or whatever they were before Nuva), but the first Bionicle series was with Tahu! I love Bionicle so much XD

  • legozebra September 21, 2014, 1:28 PM

A bit disappointed with the “magic” element… In the original series we had protodermis!

    • Fikko3107 September 24, 2014, 10:50 AM

Well, Bionicle was initially conceived as more mystical than scientific, so it doesn’t “return to the roots” much more than this.

We finally know what Arthakha’s Mask of Creation looks like! We still don’t know its name though; well, I suppose making his mask the next plot point makes sense, considering the Kanohi of Creation is the only one of the three legendary masks to not have a set version yet…

      • Bohrok Tru September 25, 2014, 12:56 PM

Fikko… your words are like poetry.. =’)

  • ninja of stealth September 22, 2014, 12:58 PM

right when I was about to open the comment section I said to myself, “get ready for a major freak-out by LEGO fans,” and I was right 🙂 I started getting into LEGO right when this ended (and many other good themes) so I’m excited to see why people really like this. according to the storyline thing under the teaser it sounded way more interesting than hero factory. (Has a better name too. 😎 )

  • The Watcher September 22, 2014, 3:20 PM

This will be interesting to watch. I was one of those geeks who grew up with BIONICLE, and seeing my favorite theme return would be amazing. However, I am wondering they will keep the lore of the original series. That is what made BIONICLE so special, the fact that we had such intricate layered stories for a toy franchise…it was nearly unheard of, at least to me. If Greg Farshtey is writing the stories, I believe we will be in for a good amount of lore. But I do hope that it isn’t watered down or cheesy. The series deserves more than that.

  • Bohrok Tru September 22, 2014, 7:45 PM

MY CHILDHOOD RETURNS!!!!!!!!!! AT LASSSSTTT!!!!!!!! I KNEW YOU’D BE BACK!!!! I cried and blubbered happily to myself for a few minutes after I heard the news. My Mom thought I was going crazy…

  • ninja of stealth September 23, 2014, 1:41 PM

That’s how I am with Ninjago Bohrok. people think LEGO fans are crazy and get excited over nothing. BUT THEY ARE WRONG! 😀

  • Toa of iron October 5, 2014, 11:25 AM

    I’m really excited about this!!!!!!!!
I own quite a few “classic” bionicles (over seventy) and just loved the theme.
Here’s to the return of a great theme!
