LEGO Classic Space Minifig promo – last day!

Just wanted to bring to your attention that both freebies that are available this month – if you shop directly from LEGO – expire today. We have discussed the specials before (see: LEGO Promotions for September & Beyond), but just as a reminder, the first one is the free LEGO Legends of Chima Worriz’ Fire Bike set that you can get with purchases of $50 or more, and the second is the free exclusive LEGO Classic Spaceman Minifigure (with a little LEGO Classic Space robot). This offer is only available for LEGO VIP members with purchases of $99 or more. So basically if you make a $100 purchase, you will get both promo sets, and of course free shipping. 🙂

LEGO Classic Space Minifigure Promo Set

I placed an order at the beginning of the month so I got both freebies and I’m very happy with them. The LEGO Legends of Chima Worriz’ Fire Bike is a small polybag with 31 pieces. The minifig is Worriz in his fiery outfit, with the torso printed both front and back, and the legs are printed too. Polybags are nice little sets that work great as extras for your LEGO collection, or also as gifts for others. They are highly desirable by collectors and you can even use them for trading.

The second set is the LEGO Classic Space Minifigure, which is far more special – although I do like both (who doesn’t like free LEGO?!). This second set comes in a heavy collectors’ box with a LEGO Classic Space minifig in white uniform and new-style helmet, and a little black droid that is identical with the one that appeared in the #6931 LEGO Classic Space FX Star Patroller set back from the 1980s – except for one difference; the new version has a short 3L light-saber blade going through the arms/torso assembly to make the robot more sturdy.

The box is actually a sleeve with an inside tray that slides open. It looks fantastic with the LEGO Classic Space and the old LEGO System logos. Inside there is a little booklet with the instructions to assemble the minifig and the robot, and also pictures and a timeline of LEGO Space sets. LEGO went way above and beyond with this set and it is definitely made for collectors! Below is a video-review of the set by the BrickShow, showing you all the details of this exclusive collectors’ item.

I don’t always order from LEGO directly just to get freebies, but this time it is definitely worth it because of the LEGO Classic Space Minifigure box. It’s an awesome set to keep for your collection, and if you decide to sell, it will definitely bring in a pretty price. Right now it goes for about $20-$25 on the secondary market, and I’m sure it will be even more once the promotion is over. Again, this is the last day of the promotion, so if you want one, check out the Online LEGO Shop.

Shop LEGO Mixels Series 3

In case you are curious of what I ordered, I got all the newly released Series 3 LEGO Mixels, and four LEGO Technic Racers (the ones with the pull-back mechanism). I haven’t had a Technic set since I was a kid, and I have been curious about these for a while. They are quite large (and can be combined for even larger models), very sturdy, lots of fun to play with, and are only $20 each. I plan to have them around when we have kids over.

So what do you think? Did you get either of the freebies this month? How do you like them? Or are you planning to place a last-minute order before the promotion expires tonight? Feel free to share and discuss in the comment section below! 😉

I got the Worriz’ Fire Bike when I purchased the Lavals’ Fire Lion set. It was a pretty nice bike to go along with the set.

I made a trip to the LEGO store on September first to make sure I got the spaceman minifig. I surprised they still have them it is an extremely cool set.
I haven’t built the fire bike yet. But looking at the set now I see a part I need for another minifig comic. So I’ll be opening the bag soon.

Is the spaceman a US only special? I cant seem to find it mentioned anywhere on the lego UK site. I kinda half want it but am not willing to pay the US $60 or so they are now on ebay.

I haven’t found it on the Dutch site either…
      I guess it’s only for the U.S.A. 🙁

Tom, it was a UK special last month. 😉

The spaceman is definitely the promo to go here for. Don’t try spending $50 just to get the Chima bike though; I noticed those same polybags are by the registers at local Target stores now.

That’s good to know. Thanks for the heads up!

I can tell next year is going to be an expensive year for me. Good thing I should be paying off my car sometime in February. A good few hundred dollars a month to spend on Lego!!!! =D

That’s sweet! Get yourself a god storage system too (if you don’t have one already), as that much LEGO can get out of hand pretty quickly! 🙄

LEGO has announced that in 4 days on Friday, September 19th, they will be “revealing something very exciting. Let the guessing game commence!” The picture, seen above, has a test card pattern which may give an indication of what this reveal could be. Test card patterns are often used as when there is no programming being broadcasted on a TV channel. If I were to guess what the reveal is on Friday, it will be the results for the first LEGO Ideas review. There are a number of very good projects including LEGO Bird Project, Modular Apple Store, BTTF – Jules Verne Train, Doctor Who, The Big Bang Theory. and Doctor Who and Companions. The projects that kind of correlate to the image are The Big Bang Theory and the two Doctor Who projects. Since they are both television shows, it would make sense that a test card pattern would be used somehow. I suspect that each day, LEGO will be posting another image to countdown to Friday so stay tuned. What do you think this reveal is all about? – See more at: http://www.thebrickfan.com/#sthash.3VoFqaJG.dpuf

Yeah, I have seen this on Twitter where LEGO also announced the same thing. Exciting. 😛

What is with the Chima sets, don’t get me started on Ninjago, Enter the Serpent looks gud but that’s it, they made white Pythor

      • admin September 15, 2014, 9:16 AM

Many of these are preliminary images with the printing on the minifigs as well as some of the sets still missing.

    • James September 15, 2014, 9:04 AM

Wow! That’s the biggest collection of ‘sneak peaks’ that I’ve ever been witness to. It almost feels like I’m breaking the law looking at them…but I couldn’t stop!

I love the new Elves line. Looks like lots of new colors and pieces. Between that, and the Elsa Ice Castle, my girls will be very happy!

I’m a little disappointed in the Lego City construction sets and the new Pirate ship. Maybe I’ll change my mind once they are officially released with more details.

      • admin September 15, 2014, 9:18 AM

Yeah, I downloaded all the images, just in case they disappear. I really like the Elves too. 😛

I am always purchase Lego from local store, just wondering where do you guys purchase bricks from, Lego.com or somewhere else?

    • admin September 15, 2014, 9:15 AM

I don’t have a LEGO store near me, so I shop mostly at the Online LEGO Shop, and sometimes from Amazon – for sets. However the place I shop the most at is BrickLink for loose parts and minifigs. 😀
