LEGO Harry Potter: Umbridge’s First Date

The BrotherhoodWorkshop released another fun video and behind-the-scenes tutorial. This video is shorter than some of the previous ones, but it is still very funny. It’s titled LEGO Harry Potter: Umbridge’s First Date. 🙂

LEGO Harry Potter by the Brotherhood Workshop

Kevin Ulrich from the BrotherhoodWorkshop writes: “There is little doubt that Dolores Umbridge is the most hated character in the entire Harry Potter series. But why is she so horrible? I propose that Umbridge is the way she is today because her first (and only) date, went about as wrong as conceivably possible…

So yeah, that explains why Umbridge is the way she is, doesn’t it? Now let’s follow Kevin behind the scenes to see how the video was created. To me this is always the most interesting part as Kevin regularly comes up with unique and creative ways to enhance his LEGO stop-motion videos. He calls them “ghetto methods” because they are cheap too, and they are more about resourcefulness and ingenuity than fancy and expensive equipment. The methods described in this tutorial are particularly interesting; instead of moving the camera, move the entire scene to create the illusion of motion.

So what do you think? How did you like the LEGO Harry Potter video? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below! Also, if you would like to learn more about LEGO stop-motion, I highly recommend checking out the other videos from the BrotherhoodWorkshop listed below, or you can also visit their YouTube Channel directly for more.

Ha ha! I watched this a couple of weeks ago. So funny! I’d love them to do more Harry Potter videos. =D

He just did, so what are you complaining about…?

      • admin October 22, 2014, 2:00 PM

        She wanted even more. 😉

      • Kim October 22, 2014, 2:06 PM

It’s not a complaint…..it was a hope for more because I liked it. Kinda hard to say that you’d love something and complain about it in the same sentence…..

LOL! I’m pretty sure 2-year-olds can do it. They can laugh and cry at the same time, and throw a tantrum and have a giggling fit simultaneously. They can also get confused if they meant to say “yes” or “no”. But 2-year-olds have special powers – they forget them though by the time they grow up… thankfully.

Ha ha touche. I just hope I don’t come across as a two-year-old online. LOL

Naw… and anyway, we all have a two-year-old inside of us that sometimes needs to come out. I just built two modulars and now I want more. Right now my adult self is trying to reason with my spoiled-brat self. See who wins. 🙄

Ha ha. My inner two year old usually comes out when the internet isn’t working….LOL

                • admin October 22, 2014, 2:38 PM

Oh, yeah, my inner two-year-old agrees; dreadful times. Thanksfully here it doesn’t happen too often. But yeah, World, be scared, and give us back our Internet, or else! 😈

    Sweet

Ah, yes, the Dementor’s Kiss, I wonder what possessed Umbridge to go on a date with one of those. 🙂 Pretty neat strategy, with the whole set moving. I watched another tutorial about that a few months ago, but I haven’t made any brick films recently enough to try it out. 😕
Oh, and admin, this relates to your article from yesterday: http://brickset.com/article/12800/minifigs-me-releases-brick-flicks-range 😉

Yeah, funny that they just published that! I could have included it in the article, but it was too late. I would really like to get some of their minifigs just to see how is the quality. But they are in the UK.

I believe you can still order them, they’ll just be pretty expensive with the exchange rate. I plan to order someday. They have a lot of stuff I’d like to have, though, their custom clothing torsos are probably off the list because they’re like 5 pounds a piece which would be like $8 a piece.

        • admin October 22, 2014, 7:33 PM

Yes, I know I could order them, but as you said; they are quite expensive. Maybe I will use my magic blogger connections. I rather have them contact me though instead of the other way around. Better negotiating position. 😉

Yeah, great quality, but I believe one minifig is $15 or so. Plus the overseas shipping and tax, and you’re paying $20+ for 1 minifig!
Also, though I’m sure you’ve seen it, I found the “new Hobbit video,” finally! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqsAzTS6KDg And to think I’ve been hunting for it, and it’s been out a week! 😡 😕 😉

        • admin October 22, 2014, 10:19 PM

Yeah, that $$$ is the problem. Too much for a minifig I’m not even sure I will like. As far as the video, I’m in touch with Kevin, and he always sends me his new videos even before they get released. I sometimes can’t post them right away, but usually have a chance to see them even before they go live on YouTube. 😉

    Hilarious! XD Also, off topic.

@LK901, if you read this, I can’t go to the new forum. It pops up with this Monsta FTP thing, and I don’t know what to put in the little white boxes… Is that just a dev thing?

  • Tom October 22, 2014, 8:32 PM

    I like it, 🙂
