LEGO Minifigure Gift Set at Target stores

(Written by Owen C. – Lloydguy)

If you shop at Target, you may have run across a very interesting little set, the #5004076 LEGO Minifigure Gift Set, which is an exclusive to Target stores. The box includes four minifigures; Green Ninja DX from LEGO Ninjago, Lavertus from LEGO Legends of Chima, Superboy from LEGO DC Super Heroes, and a LEGO City swamp policeman – all four minifigures are unique, and only appear in this set. So let’s take a closer look. ๐Ÿ™‚

#5004076 LEGO Minifigure Gift Set

The packaging of the #5004076 LEGO Minifigure Gift Set is very nice in itself, and makes a great gift for LEGO Ninjago, LEGO Legends of Chima, LEGO DC Super Heroes and LEGO City fans. It is basically a cube, with one minifigure showing at each side, surrounded by a themed background. The minifigures have a thin plastic covering them to keep them in place, but they are easy to pop out. At the center of the box there is a small bag with the various accessories for the minifigures.

#5004076 LEGO Minifigure Gift Set Details

โžก LEGO DC SUPER HEROES SUPERBOY – In my opinion one of the most interesting minifigures in this set is Superboy. He comes with a double-sided head with different facial expressions, and unique torso and leg prints. Also, notice that he has the new kind of short-sleeves, which is not printed but two different color plastics are moulded together. We first saw these new arms in the LEGO Simpsons sets, but now they are becoming more common in other sets as well.

โžก LEGO NINJAGO GREEN NINJA DX – This is a very unique version of Lloyd a gorgeously printed Golden Dragon outfit. Lloyd’s name is printed with gold letters at the back of his torso, which is really cool. It is interesting to note that the hood is only one color and doesn’t have the metallic hood-ornament printed on, like we have seen with other versions of this hood piece. Lloyd’s facial printing is also new, featuring a smirk. There is no second printing on his head. His accessories are two golden katanas, and the often used golden shoulder pads.

โžก LEGO LEGENDS OF CHIMA LAVERTUS – The Lion Kingโ€™s brother now dons a Fire Chi armor along with a Fire Valious (the golden royal sword). He is Shadowind no more. His beautifully printed torso and legs are a new design, but his head-printing is not. One major problem with this minifigure is that in the packaging his cape gets crumpled quite a bit. You can place it under something heavy (like a stack of books) for a while to straighten itย out. One last accessory Lavertus has is a Fire Chi piece – which adds to the playability.

โžก LEGO CITY SWAMP POLICEMAN – Although this may be the least exciting of the four minifigures, it is still very cool. The ranger hat and legs are standard, however his facial printing and his torso printing are unique to this set. The torso printing is especially nicely detailed with a vest, radio, badge and sunglasses. The back of the torso is also printed with POLICE printed on, along with a walkie-talkie, and a canteen or water-bottle. He supposed to go with the upcoming 2015 LEGO City Swamp Police line.

Another great addition to the #5004076 LEGO Minifigure Gift Set is the plates the minifigures stand on. They are the same as in the LEGO Collectible Minifigures series, however they are not black but light-gray. This color only appeared in two other, more expensive sets; the #75054 LEGO Star Wars AT-AT and the #21108 LEGO Ghostbusters Ecto-1. In this set you get four of them, so yes, they are quite unique.

LEGO Plate

Overall, the #5004076 LEGO Minifigure Gift Set is a great promotional item. It was originally available free if you bought any LEGO Ninjago, LEGO Legends of Chima, LEGO DC Super Heroes and LEGO City sets over $45 at Target stores, or you could also get it separately for $15 each, which is a great price for such unique and exclusive minifigures. You may check your local Target store to see if they still have them, although it is unlikely as this has been a very popular item. If you don’t find it, it is readily available on eBay and prices are not too bad. You can find the listings here: LEGO MINIFIGURE GIFT SET ON EBAY

If you do stop by at Target, you can also look for two other promotional items that they have been carrying; the #30256 LEGO Legends of Chima Iceclaw’s Bear Mech, and the #30202 LEGO Friends Smoothie Cart. Both of them are nice little sets that you can use as stocking-stuffers this holiday season. If you don’t find them at Target, they are also available on eBay at the following links: LEGO FRIENDS SMOOTHIE CART, LEGO CHIMA ICECLAW’S BEAR MECH

Cheapest I can find it here in the uk is $45 inc shipping. From the only UK based seller its more like $70. I’m sad actually as I quite fancied this ๐Ÿ™

    • admin December 20, 2014, 12:52 PM

That’s sad. Do you have any friends or family in the USA who could send it to you?

      • Tom December 20, 2014, 3:04 PM

I’ll be phoning all my work colleagues first thing Monday to find out.. has to be someone who can sort me out I hope!

        • admin December 20, 2014, 5:38 PM

I hope that works out for you. I really should have thought of this and gotten multiplies at Target when they were still available at our store, so I could help out our readers. Wishing you the best with your hunt! ๐Ÿ™‚

That Iceclaw mech is the coolest polybag ever! Iceclaw is one of the best Chima minifigs ever!

    • BLProductions December 20, 2014, 2:59 PM

Funny, he only got about 5 minutes worth of show time in the episodes. Not to be rude, though, that mech is still pretty cool. ๐Ÿ™‚
Also, both of those polybags are 2015 ploys, so there’s more 2015 sets found in stores….

He did have very little show time, but he is one of the few Ice-bears that are being released. He does appear in a few of the other sets, I believe, but he has not been released yet.

  • BLProductions December 20, 2014, 2:56 PM

Man, I’d like to get this. I really like Lloyd DX (if that’s even what he is), but the other minifigs aren’t that attractive to me. Although Lavertus would be a nice addition to my collection…or would he? ๐Ÿ˜‰ The light grey minifig bases are great parts for me, they are good pieces for odd-numbered-stud MOCs, and I only have two in Black.
Also, is anyone playing the Star Wars advent game on Lego.com? I note the option of multiple characters this year. Also, does all the red and Sith videos mean the Dark Side won the “choose-your-side” contest? ๐Ÿ˜

    • admin December 20, 2014, 5:36 PM

Hm… that’s an interesting question about the Choose Your Side contest. Would love to know the answer to it! ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

      • BLProductions December 20, 2014, 6:36 PM

Back in June when the contest was supposed to end, it was the light side that won. But as the site is Empire-ized, I conclude that the Dark Side won. Or it could just be going with the holiday theme, the advent calendars have Sith instead of Santa, plus this year is a Darth Vader year according to the box art. ๐Ÿ˜•
Also, check this out: http://brickset.com/article/13540/jurassic-world-first-image . It looks like Superman, Peter Quill, Cyrus Borg, Indiana Jones, and a helicopter pilot teamed up to defeat 2012 dinos…. ๐Ÿ™‚

Just came back from watching The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies. We watched the 3D version. It was $30 for two people! Crazy prices! Anyway, the battle scenes were insane! I still like the LOTR movies better. Emotionally they were more gripping. I did see the Jurassic World picture before we left for the movie theatre. And they also showed the trailer before the main film. ๐Ÿ™‚

          • BLProductions December 21, 2014, 2:13 PM

Oh, nice! I myself am not a big fan of 3D, I like watching movies that are concentrated in one place, not trying to attack you (but I’m not scared of it either). Also, having a 3D version requires the movie to have things flying at the camera, which can occasionally have drawbacks in a 2D version. ๐Ÿ˜• And I need to get the Bo5A into my family’s Netflix queue, so I can actually see it! But LotR will always be better. ๐Ÿ™‚ So how was the Jurassic World trailer? Did the movie look exciting, or like a CGI mess?

            • admin December 21, 2014, 2:51 PM

We were planning to watch the regular version, not 3D, but the regular version was already sold out. So we waited 30 minutes and watched the 3D version instead since we were already there. I don’t really care for 3D in most situations, but for certain movies it is excellent. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was in this movie.

    • lloydguy December 21, 2014, 7:58 AM

It is Lloyd DX, but since he was never made in a set, he is a really special, but technically non-canon.

  • Fikko3107 December 20, 2014, 5:01 PM

You know, I’m tempted to try to hunt this set down solely due to the inclusion of Superboy…feel free to ostracize me, but I grew up with the 2003 run of the Teen Titans.

    • admin December 20, 2014, 5:40 PM

We can probably all relate, so it is unlikely that anybody is going to ostracize you. I actually like the City Police guy in this set the most, but I have done some very desparate hunts for minifigs before, so I know the feeling. ๐Ÿ™

    • lloydguy December 21, 2014, 4:30 PM

I know how you feel. I only got the set because I really wanted Lloyd.

  • CoffeeNinja12 December 20, 2014, 7:12 PM

I really like the Lloyd DX one! ๐Ÿ˜€

  • LegoUniverse Bob December 21, 2014, 12:02 PM

Sadly Target isn’t in the UK, so too bad. But that Lloyd DX minifig! I would love to place him in one of my scenes going on; especially my lab-area.

    • Tom December 21, 2014, 4:56 PM

Cheapest I’ve found it in the uk is 50 quid inc. Shipping. For what is $15 the price is a little steep ๐Ÿ™ I am going to see if I can get a colleague in the US to get one but I’m not holding my breath ๐Ÿ™

  • Ray December 22, 2014, 1:07 PM

I first learned of this from another Lego site a few weeks back. The replies there were mostly panicked people saying they had been to several Targets which had all run out of them. Then somebody discovered it was available online, both by itself or as part of the “buy $x of Lego sets get this free” deal.

It’s surprising to see a polybag from the 2015 Chima wave out already, but I’ll head to some Targets and look for it. Getting the 2014 Chima polybags was much harder than in 2013, some of them didn’t turn up for me until just this past month.

    • admin December 22, 2014, 2:11 PM

The Chima polybag is also available at TRU. I was just there a few days ago and they had tons of them. ๐Ÿ™‚
