LEGO Star Wars Slave I available now!

One of the largest and most exciting new LEGO sets this year has been the #75060 LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series Slave I. The uniqueness of this set is that although it is within the Ultimate Collector Series line, it is in fact minifigure scale, which is something LEGO fans have been asking for. Another feature of the LEGO Star Wars Slave I is that it is huge, giant, humongous! So let’s take a closer look at this set. 🙂

The #75060 LEGO Star Wars Slave I is actually the fourth edition of the Boba Fett’s very unusual looking vehicle in LEGO form. There was the #7144 LEGO Star Wars Slave I, released in the year 2000. This is the smallest version and looks quite crude compared to today’s LEGO Star Wars sets. Then came the #6209 LEGO Star Wars Slave I in 2006. This was a nice looking spaceship with wonderful shaping and colors, and the size wasn’t too bad either. The third version was the #8097 LEGO Star Wars Slave I in 2010. This vehicle takes advantage of a new color-scheme and more advanced features. And now here we are in 2014, with the biggest, baddest #75060 LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series Slave I! Did I say it was big? 🙄

Below is the designer-video, so you can check out all of the cool features of this set. I’m quite impressed by how sturdy it is; you can lift it up in several different ways and swoosh it around. In other words, while this is a collector’s display model, it can actually be used for play – which is the best of both worlds and what I most look forward to in LEGO sets of this size and detail. Other reviewers have confirmed that the set is in fact very sturdy. And it’s really-really big… okay, I won’t say that any more. Here is the video:

Awesome, isn’t it? I especially like the back with the engine details. And the colors are also very nice. And just look at that giant windshield and how seamlessly in blends with the rest of the ship! Really nice shaping there. The #75060 LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series Slave I was released on January 1st, and it is an exclusive to official LEGO stores and the Online LEGO Shop. It is not a cheap set, but not expensive either for what you get. The price per piece ratio is 10 cents, which is normal for LEGO, and in fact quite cheap for licensed sets. So, if you want one, this is a good price. Also, this month you will get a couple of freebies with your purchase, as we have discussed previously. Again, you can see more pictures and purchase the set (along with other 2015 LEGO Star Wars sets) from the Online LEGO Shop.

Such a massive set! I don’t have room for big sets like this, but it is very impressive.

I would get this set if I wasn’t saving up for the detectives office. Neat and very detailed set though! 😀

True minifigure scale by the way it looks, since most Lego sets that are designed to interact with minifigures are actually much smaller than they should be compared to the real world vehicles/buildings and people.

I completely agree. Now if only LEGO could do that more often! I know that the Rebel/Imperial ships released back in 2012 were minifig-movie scale, but I haven’t seen too many others since. But generally this is because SW ships are too big for LEGO to be making entire lines of sets in appropriate scale. I believe the 2007 UCS Millennium Falcon was proper scale, but look at how big that was! 😕 Maybe this is why Lego’s UCS sets are turning into large play-sets.

You can still get the 2007 Falcon (if you have 12,000 dollars) lol

Actually, all or the “freebies” are already gone (according to From Bricks to Bothans).

Anybody disapointed about Winter Break ending?

    Anyone here a Whovian?

I’m not sure. Most of our fans are from the USA, and Doctor Who is not as big here as in the UK. But there is very likely going to be a Doctor Who set released, so it should get us up to speed . 😉
