Watch the first LEGO BIONICLE episodes!

We have discussed the reboot of the LEGO BIONICLE saga recently and how significant this is for LEGO fans, especially those who grew up with the original BIONICLE story. The strength of BIONICLE has always been the very complex and engaging story-telling behind it, in fact some readers shared here before that their entire childhood was intertwined with the adventure of the BIONICLE heroes and villains. 🙂

LEGO Bionicle 2015

It appears that LEGO is fully committed to recreating the magic of the original BIONICLE legend and capturing another generation of young fans. If you would like to learn more about the background, characters and setting of the story, check out LEGO BIONICLE – The Journey Begins…

LEGO BIONICLE 2015 Episodes

Since our previous discussion the first episodes of the story have been uploaded to the official LEGO BIONICLE website, with more coming on a regular basis. I thought to share with you the episodes already available here, so we can talk about this epic tale. Please note that you can watch all of the episodes in the video-player below as I have put them into one play-list.

  • LEGO BIONICLE – Episode 1: Prophecy of heroes – Six elemental heroes rain down on Okoto. It is their destiny to find their masks of power and save the island from evil.
  • LEGO BIONICLE – Episode 2: The Arrival – After falling from the stars, Tahu meets the Protector where he learns about his destiny to find his Mask of Power
  • LEGO BIONICLE – Episode 3: Quest for the Golden Masks – Journeying through Okoto’s most hostile regions, the heroes and Protectors battle onwards to reach the shrines of the golden masks.
  • LEGO BIONICLE – Episode 4: The Protectors Fight Back – The heroes finally reach the shrines of the golden masks. But the Skull Spiders are ready to spring the ambush.
  • LEGO BIONICLE – Episode 5: The Power of the Golden Masks – The heroes claim their golden mask and unlock their true fighting potential.

Besides watching the story unfold, you can also check out all of the newly released LEGO BIONICLE sets. They allow you to play with and collect all the characters, and contain many new and unique elements for building your own LEGO creations. The 2015 LEGO BIONICLE sets were released at the beginning of January and should be available at most LEGO retailers by now, and you can also find them at the Online LEGO Shop.

I was kind of hoping for something a little less targeted towards little kids. But maybe, since we’re getting Ninjago, Batman, and The Lego Movie 2 there will be yet another Bionicle feature film

If the new sets and story are received well it is likely that LEGO will put money into developing a film. The original BIONICLE films though were direct-to-video. They were never shown in theatres, like The LEGO Movie, or the other scheduled feature films you mentioned. So it’s kind of a different animal.

Yep, WAY better than hero factory. This seems to me like it actually has a story line. Speaking of Ninjago, it doesn’t seem to me like a kids show anymore, more like a tween-teen show. (which is cool, because I’m a teenager.)

I hope at some point this is connected to the old bionicle plot, but it doesn’t seem likely.

They have been adding some “Easter Eggs” referring to the old BIONICLE story. I don’t know it that is a sign that the stories will be more connected, but it is still fun to find them.

What is the old story plot for BIONICLE? I became a LEGO freak right when BIONICLE discontinued.

Hm… it is extremely complex, but I guess I could write a post about it. It would make sense for people who are not familiar with the original story.

i have pohatu and he is great

  • ShadowPixl January 22, 2015, 4:50 PM

While the storyline isn’t nearly as complex as the previous line (from what we know so far), it certainly has a deeper storyline than other Lego lines like Monster Fighters or Pharaoh’s Quest.

I’m not complaining, but I do hope that Greg gets to write more books on this new continuity.

      • Legozebra January 22, 2015, 6:46 PM

Unfortunately, Greg stated that he isn’t writing books; he is just the creative consultant. (There WILL be books, though, just by someone slse)

No Greg! D: *Curls into a ball and cries holding Lewa*

        • admin January 22, 2015, 8:55 PM

Yeah, I remember reading that too.

  • Ninja of Stealth January 23, 2015, 1:20 PM

So wait, he’s never wrote ANY books? Just helped out? If so, MY LIFE IS A LIE!!! 🙄

  • Drail January 23, 2015, 4:21 PM

not a big fan of the bionicle stuff, never has been

just never had the same appeal as regular lego did

    • admin January 23, 2015, 4:57 PM

The main thing about BIONICLE is the story. Yes, the sets are very different than regular LEGO sets due to the very different pieces. Some people like them, some don’t, but the good thing is that they can be incorporated into regular LEGO creations as unique elements. I’m planning to write a post about this sometime in the future. 🙂
