More 2015 LEGO sets – New York Toy Fair

The recent New York Toy Fair has been super exciting event where LEGO revealed most of the new sets and themes that will be coming out later this year. We have covered most of the new sets already (see: 2015 LEGO sets – New York Toy Fair Report), but as the article was getting too long there were some sets and themes I did not include, especially since were already covered in the previous London and German Toy Fair reports (links at the end of this post). However for the sake of completeness I thought to add the coverage from the New York Toy Fair on those as well in the form of a couple of preview videos, so let’s take a look! ๐Ÿ™‚

LEGO New York Toy Fair

In the previous New York Toy Fair report I have used the preview summaries from YouTube member just2good as I felt he did a good overall view on all of the new sets and themes. For more details I also recommend watching the video coverage from the BrickShow as they filmed all of the new sets at the toy fair. Pictures have also been added to the Brickset database, so you might want to check out those as well.

โžก 2015 LEGO ULTRA AGENTS SETS: LEGO Ultra Agents has been one of the best non-licensed themes of recent times with excellent looking sets and great play-features. The theme is obviously successful too as this is going to be the third wave of sets! Also, as we have discussed previously, LEGO Ultra Agents expands into digital games via app-bricks that are included in all of the sets. Here is the list of upcoming sets: #70171 LEGO Ultra Agents Ultrasonic Showdown, #70172 LEGO Ultra Agents AntiMatter’s Portal Hideout, #70173 LEGO Ultra Agents Ocean HQ.

โžก 2015 LEGO FRIENDS SETS: LEGO Friends will have a major sub-theme this summer with a pop-start theme. โžก 2015 LEGO CREATOR SETS: LEGO Creator is usually not the theme that causes the most excitement, but they are full of great sets. This wave is especially very solid with three excellent sets: #31037 LEGO Creator Adventure Vehicles, #31038 LEGO Creator Changing Seasons, #31039 LEGO Creator Blue Power Jet.

#31039 LEGO Creator

โžก 2015 LEGO JUNIORS SETS: LEGO Juniors is a fairly new theme, but it quickly proved itself to be a major contended in peoples’ favorite theme category. Although originally intended for children who are transitioning over from LEGO DUPLO to regular LEGO, it have also caught the attention to adult LEGO fans due to their nice designs and beautifully printed parts. There are two new sets in this theme coming later in the year: #10682 LEGO Juniors Off Road Work, LEGO Juniors #10683 Family Home. In the video-preview below YouTube member just2good talks about all of the above mentioned sets and themes in more detail.

Awesome! My favorite sets this summer are probably the City ones. I must get that City Square! The Ninjago sets are super cool too! Although I think that the Morro Dragon is a girl… Just look at all those little dragons!

    • admin February 25, 2015, 4:09 PM

Carbo, yeah the City Square is a very nice set. I haven’t thought of the Morro Dragon being a girl, but you never know with dragons. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Carbo February 25, 2015, 10:28 AM

Oh, and I forgot to mention, I want Bladvic’s Rumble Bear. I think that the Mech looks kind of silly, but the truck looks pretty cool, and I really like bears. Mostly Ice Bears though… ๐Ÿ™„

    • admin February 25, 2015, 4:09 PM

Yes, the bears are quite special.

I find the villain in the UA Ocean HQ interesting. He seems to have a little flying pedestal like AntiMatter in the UltraCopter. The Ocean HQ itself looks really nice, but that villain in it is just bugging me now…

  • LegoGeek February 25, 2015, 11:31 AM

I love the new trans. minifigure parts, just want the to make a invisible man out of all clear pieces ๐Ÿ™„

    • LegoGeek February 25, 2015, 11:51 AM

Yay my smile worked! ๐Ÿ™„ ๐Ÿ‘ฟ :eyes:

    • BLProductions February 25, 2015, 2:26 PM

True, we are getting closer. We’re only missing a hip, torso, and one arm (the right one, I think). But even so, the minifig won’t be so transparent when complete, as he’ll be about four different colors! Which will admittedly look pretty cool. ๐Ÿ™„

      • admin February 25, 2015, 4:27 PM

There is a customizer who sells completely translucent minifigs in different translucent colors. They are super cool. Just saw them the other day. So yeah, it can be done. I hope LEGO will make some too in the future.

        • Legozebra February 25, 2015, 6:35 PM

I don’t think it’s possible as transparent plastic is not ABS, and apparently it isn’t as stable when locked with other transparent elements than ABS….

          • Legozebra February 25, 2015, 6:36 PM

(Or something like that, ask one of the other Lego nerds…)

          • admin February 26, 2015, 9:45 AM

That’s what I have hear also; that there has be be at least some regular ABS parts included to connect them. Transparent parts are made of a more rigid plastic that doesn’t do well being rubbed against each other.

  • Kim February 25, 2015, 1:26 PM

Of course we know I must have the city square set, but I actually like the look of the Agents Ship. It is one I will definitely consider, but I’d want to know the price point first.

  • BLProductions February 25, 2015, 2:22 PM

I can see now what I will NOT be getting from the summer sets. Of all the non-licensed themes, the most interesting are Ninjago, Ultra Agents, and Technic. I can’t believe the City Spaceport is $120, it deserves $70! Same with the Research Vessel, that should have been $90-100. The Town Square is ok at $190, but maybe $180 would have been better. ๐Ÿ˜•
There is so much to like and dislike in Ninjago, I can’t say it all. But I love the weapons selection in the Airjitzu Flyers! Golden Weapons, Elemental Blades, lots of gold, I will be getting one for sure! My least favorite is Ronin REX, the set is just too much shoved into one, it’s kinda messy. And the red Ninja in the Bounty set I’m 99% sure is Skylor. I doubt she will leave the team after just one season, so who else could it be? And are all those Greenish parts on the Wrayths glow-in-the-dark, or another color? ๐Ÿ˜
Also, I think I’ve solved my financial problem from the other day: I’ll skip the MechDragon (I don’t want it that bad), and get the Obliterator as soon as possible. Then I’ll get the Morro Dragon from later this year to substitute the MechDragon, as that one is so much cooler! ๐Ÿ™‚ Hopefully the Morro will be only $80 or less, or else I can’t afford it. ๐Ÿ˜•

    • admin February 25, 2015, 4:26 PM

Yeah, the prices on the City sets are extremely surprising. Maybe LEGO is testing the waters to see if they can get away with the higher prices. Anyway, it’s really strange. I like Ronin REX. I have heard contradictory reports about those greenish parts. Some people said they are glow-in-the-dark, and others said it is a new shade of very light yellowish green. I guess we will just have to see it for ourselves. Let me know how you like the Obliterator once you built it. It is one of my favorite sets. I have spent quite a bit of time perfecting mine. And I also added a second drop-vehicle that transports an orange version of the green mech from the other set (forgot the name). Anyway, it’s a great set with awesome play-features and swoosh-ability! ๐Ÿ˜›

      • Kim February 25, 2015, 5:28 PM

Where are you guys finding the prices? I didn’t see them on the brickset listing.

        • admin February 25, 2015, 5:34 PM

Kim, the prices were listed at the New York Toy Fair. They were on little cards next to each set. If you are intererested in a particular set look at the video-coverage from the BrickShow. They made sure to also film those cards. The Brickset database doesn’t post the prices until the sets are actually available.

      • BLProductions February 25, 2015, 6:31 PM

Well I know they won’t be getting any income from me with those over-priced sets… I have little interest in them. ๐Ÿ˜ I’m not a big fan of City. When I first saw pics of it, I actually really liked Ronin REX, but I’ve found I like most of the other sets a lot more. The inclusion of rare parts like Swords of Fire is nice though. ๐Ÿ™‚
Maybe the green color is Spring Yellowish Green, a newer color used a lot on Uni-kitty: http://brickset.com/parts/colour-Spr-Yell-Gree It looks plausible, if so, that is an epic color scheme! ๐Ÿ˜›
I’ll let you know how I like the Obliterator … if I can ever get it. I have to ask my parents’ help to get it, and I can never find a good time to ask, plus the price has gone up, though I think I can stand that. ๐Ÿ˜• The only green mech from GS is in the Vermin Vaporizer; an orange version sounds cool, nice idea! ๐Ÿ™‚

        • admin February 26, 2015, 9:44 AM

Yes, spring-yellowish-green is the color people who were at the Toy Fair mentioned. But than again; others said it was glow-in-the-dark. Perhaps it’s both. With the ghosts glow-in-the-dark does make sense.
