2015 LEGO Ultra Agents sets reviews

Today let’s look at the newly released 2015 LEGO Ultra Agents sets. This is the second wave for LEGO Ultra Agents, which is an obvious sign that the theme has been very successful (in fact there is a third wave coming this summer, which means that it must have been very-very successful. LEGO Ultra Agents is LEGO’s own in-house line of sets that also expands into digital games (see: What are LEGO Ultra Agents App Bricks?) with classic story of badguys creating trouble, and goodguys trying to stop them, but in a more futuristic setting. In this wave there are five new sets, which is just enough to expand the previous wave and give a satisfying building and play experience, without breaking the bank. So let’s take a look at what we got. 🙂

Invizable has broken into Central Bank, and is escaping with the safe and valuable gold bars inside. Jump into the cockpit of the super-cool Stealth Bike and speed through the city streets to intercept him. When you spot the safe chained to the Invizable flyer, flip the wheels into ultra hover mode and give chase. The coolest looking vehicles in the LEGO Ultra Agents line are the futuristic vehicles of the Agents. Their sleek black and translucent-blue color scheme is reminiscent of the vehicles in the movie Tron. They also have a very satisfying shape and styling. In the first wave we got the excellent #70162 LEGO Ultra Agents Infearno Interception, with a convertible hover car (I highly recommend getting this set, if you have not done so already), and the bike in this set is quite similar looking and also has a hovering mode. The little flyer thingy for Invizable is very small but can also transform. In the video-review by JANGBRiCKS you can see all the features in more detail:

#70168 LEGO ULTRA AGENTS DRILLEX DIAMON JOB: Defend the purple diamond from Drillex and his awesome Dual-Driller! Calling Ultra Agent Curtis Bolt! Drillex is attacking the museum in a bid to steal the purple diamond. Strap on your jet pack and fly into battle. Use all your agent skills to outwit Drillex as he steamrolls forward in his brutal dual-drilling vehicle. Evade shots from the brick stud shooters and the huge dual rotation driller, and retaliate with your own stud shooter. You cannot allow Drillex to pinch the precious diamond – it will power up his master AntiMatter’s staff and allow the über-villain to open the portals to pure evil. Play out other thrilling missions on your tablet using your AppBrick Gadget with 3 AppBricks! Includes 2 minifigures with assorted weapons and accessories: Drillex and Ultra Agent Curtis Bolt. 312 pieces. Price: $29.99 – BUY HERE

#70168 LEGO Ultra Agents Details

The badguys in the LEGO Ultra Agents sets don’t have color-coordinated vehicles like the Agents, but that’s because they mostly work individually rather than as a team – they are just really bad on their own. Personally I don’t like them as much as the Agent vehicles, but that’s just my preference. They have great play-features, and especially this set has some very interesting engineering with all the gears that allow the vehicle to move and at the same time operate the drills. And I do really like Drillex’s drilling gloves! In the video-review below you can see all the features in more detail:

#70169 LEGO ULTRA AGENTS AGENT STEALTH PATROL: Prevent Toxikita kidnapping Professor Brainstein with the awesome Agent 4×4! Report for duty Elite Agent Jack Fury and Ultra Agent Trey Swift! Evil Toxikita is back for revenge. She’s powered up with a super-toxic mech and is shaking down Professor Brainstein for classified data that the evil master AntiMatter needs to carry out his dark plans. Drive to the rescue in the Agent 4×4 with huge wheels and shock-absorbing suspension. Fire the brick stud shooters, rotate the turret and launch the grappling hook. Capture Toxikita’s mech and zip-line down to get hold of her. Beware of the toxic cannon and free Professor Brainstein from the grabbing claw. Take the action to the ground with P.U.P., the Agents’ super-cool robot dog, and attack with Jack Fury’s stud shooter. Overpower Toxikita and capture her in the prison chamber before she can get away! Then play out thrilling digital missions on your tablet using your AppBrick Gadget with 4 AppBricks! Includes 4 minifigures with a weapon and assorted accessories: Elite Agent Jack Fury, Ultra Agent Trey Swift, Toxikita and Professor Brainstein. 475 pieces. Price: $49.99 – BUY HERE

#70169 LEGO Ultra Agents Details

This is the second largest set in this second wave of LEGO Ultra Agents, and it is packed full of great play-features and minifigures. The Agent’s 4-wheel drive is a futuristic version of an all-terrain vehicle and looks quite powerful. The only thing I don’t like about it is the harpoon attachment – it looks quite messy with that string wrapped around. Toxicita’s mech on the other hand is all-around excellent. It takes advantages of the new smaller ball-joint elements that were introduced with the LEGO Mixels sets. And I also love the lime-green color! The four minifigs all come with unique details and accessories that also look good. In the video-review below you can see all the features in more detail:

#70170 LEGO ULTRA AGENTS ULTRACOPTER VS. ANTIMATTER: Launch into battle against AntiMatter with the UltraCopter! Red alert, Team Leader Solomon Blaze! AntiMatter is attempting to take over the city by opening portals of evil with his powerful staff. Call Elite Agent Max Burns and Ultra Agent Caila Phoenix to the awesome UltraCopter and launch into battle. Pack vital equipment in the rear compartment, spin the huge dual rotor blades and soar into the sky. Target AntiMatter’s anti-gravity flyer with the brick stud shooters and evade the über-villain’s flick-missiles. Pop out the missile launchers to flip from stealth mode into full battle mode and unleash the powerful spring-loaded shooters. Then release the zip-line to lower an Elite Agent and bring down AntiMatter before it’s too late. Play out other thrilling digital missions on your tablet using your AppBrick Gadget with 4 AppBricks! Includes 4 minifigures with a weapon and assorted accessories: Team Leader Solomon Blaze, Elite Agent Max Burns, Ultra Agent Caila Phoenix and AntiMatter. 614 pieces. Price: $79.99 – BUY HERE

#70170 LEGO Ultra Agents

This futuristic helicopter has so many interesting details it’s hard to even list them all! It features a dual cockpit, wheel-operated dual rotor blades, pop-out missile launchers for battle mode, 4 brick stud shooters and 4 automatic spring-loaded shooters, storage compartment, 2 side doors, quick-release zip-line and landing wheels. The gear-assembly that operates the rotor blades is particularly interesting and quite different than what you would expect from just a standard helicopter. And the design of the pop-out missile launchers is really well done. In the video-review below you can see all the features:

There is one more small set in this wave of LEGO Ultra Agents, the #70166 LEGO Ultra Agents Spyclops Infiltration, however I don’t want to overwhelm this page with too many videos. You can find all the new LEGO Ultra Agents sets, along with the previous releases with more details and pictures at the LEGO Ultra Agents section of the Online LEGO Shop.

The black and trans-blue vehicles are great! Especially the bikes!

I like these a lot, and I’m pretty sure I’m going to get Invizable Gold Getaway. Although if I can get Steve Zeal from the Ocean HQ, that puts a little doubt in my mind. 😕 I would get the UltraCopter instead, it’s so awesome, and it comes with lots of great parts I don’t have many of, but at $80 I don’t think it’s worth it. It deserves $70. 😐 The Agent Stealth Patrol is cool, too, though I agree, the rope looks a little messy. I can see why they added those (so you can’t lose them), but maybe they could have included a winch to wind it up, rather than it being manual.
Also, I got my LEGO Magazine spring issue yesterday, and I noticed that the names of Pythor and Chop’rai are switched in both of the DB X’s listing. Has anyone else gotten this typo?

Are you talking about the LEGO Club Magazine or the shopping catalog? I got both a couple of days ago, but I haven’t gone through them in detail yet.

Oh, I mean the shopping magazine. I don’t get the Club one, though sometimes I wish I did. 😐

Why don’t you get it? It’s free. 😉

Help. An hour ago I saw a post you did about making the “Lego Ultra Agents Infearno” Car even BETTER. I now can’t find the post my 10 year old son is dying to see it. Please send me the link.

    Thanks!
