LEGO Mindstorms Easter egg decorator robot

The Easter holiday is a joyful time when we engage in numerous celebrations and special activities. The most notable and fun has to be dyeing eggs and decorating them in different, often very detailed and ornamented, patterns. But what could be even more fun is building a LEGO Mindstorms robot that can decorate Easter eggs for you! ๐Ÿ™‚

LEGO Mindstorms Easter Egg Decorator

And that’s exactly what the folks at RoboCAMP have done; inspired by the Easter holidays, they decided to decorate their Easter eggs in a more modern, automatic way. Thus, they came up with the idea for the LEGO Mindstorms EV3 Robotic Egg Decorator. Take a look at the video below which shows a glimpse of what this robot can achieve.

Fun, isn’t it? The Egg Decorator uses all three of the #31313 LEGO Mindstorms EV3 motors. The large motor is responsible for precise lengthwise positioning of the pen on the egg, and the second one rotates the egg. The medium motor is used to raise and lower the pen so you can control where the robot draws lines on the egg. The robot has an ingenious holder, which uses a LEGO tire to give a better grip on one side with a clever, adjustable holder at the other end to be able to hold different size eggs.

Would you like to build this LEGO Mindstorms robot yourself? All you need is the #31313 LEGO Mindstorms EV3 set, a felt-tip pen (at least one color, but the more the better!) and a couple of hard-boiled eggs. The building instructions and sample programs with three different patterns for the LEGO Mindstorms EV3 Robotic Egg Decorator can be found on RoboCAMP’s website at the following link: Instructions & Sample Programs

That looks amazing. I don’t have any Mindstorms, but I have used them and find them really fun.

I think that you have a typo in the first paragraph when it says “But could be even more fun is building…”.

Wow! That is a long time! Remember the good old days when we were all hunting for Ninjago episodes? And all the kids were writing Ninjago stories and stuff? Always nice to see you and other long-time friends around from those early days! ๐Ÿ˜›
