LEGO Dimensions more characters coming!

We have discussed LEGO Dimensions previously (see: LEGO Dimensions – New Game & Sets Coming!), and since then more exciting details have been revealed. If you would like to learn about LEGO Dimension I recommend that you first read the above mentioned article as that will give you all the basic information. What I would like to focus on today are some new images that were discovered by Brickset members. Apparently LEGO accidentally exposed some additional LEGO Dimensions sets on the LEGO instructions website that were not included in the original press-release, including LEGO Doctor Who, LEGO Portal 2, LEGO Jurassic World, LEGO Scooby Doo, and LEGO The Simpsons. ๐Ÿ™‚

โžก LEGO DIMENSIONS DOCTOR WHO: As you probably know already, we will be getting a LEGO Ideas Doctor Who set later this year, but it is nice to see Doctor Who appearing in the LEGO Dimensions line as well. Peter Capaldiโ€™s version of Doctor Who also got a new sonic screwdriver piece.

โžก LEGO DIMENSIONS PORTAL 2: One of the most exciting revelation was Chell from Portal 2, with an all new Portal Gun. I was very disappointed when the LEGO Ideas Thinking with Portals project was rejected, but this is likely because LEGO was already working on LEGO Dimensions. I’m super happy for the inclusion of this character!

โžก LEGO DIMENSIONS JURASSIC WORLD: The LEGO Jurassic World characters appear to be the same ones as in the newly released LEGO Jurassic World sets that you can find at the Online LEGO Shop.

โžก LEGO DIMENSIONS SCOOBY-DOO: The Scooby-Doo characters also appear to be the same ones that will be released shortly in the LEGO Scooby-Doo sets that you can read more about here.

โžก LEGO DIMENSIONS THE SIMPSONS: The Simpsons characters are also the same as in the currently available LEGO The Simpsons sets, but it is still nice to see them in LEGO Dimensions. You can find the LEGO The Simpsons sets and minifig packs at the Online LEGO Shop.

And of course besides these newly revealed themes, there will also be characters from The LEGO Movie, LEGO Ninjago, LEGO Lord of the Rings, LEGO Wizard of Oz, LEGO Back to the Future, etc. You can read about those in the press-release I linked to at the beginning of this post. The LEGO Dimensions sets will be available in September. If you want to check out all the pictures, they are already added to the Brickset database (just follow the link), and you can also keep an eye on the official LEGO Dimensions website. And if you are interested, both the LEGO Dimensions video-game and the accompanying sets are available for pre-order on Amazon. See here: PRE-ORDER LEGO DIMENSIONS ON AMAZON

So what do you think? How do you like these newly revealed themes to LEGO Dimensions? Are you interested in the new gaming experience and the new LEGO sets and characters? Which one is your favorite? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Take my money!

    • admin May 17, 2015, 10:38 AM

Yeah, LOL! I’m so getting the Portal minifig even though I don’t care about the game.

I really like this game, but I don’t care about Dr. Who, Portal, or the Simpsons. I will probably just go to the Simpson dimension and destroy the hole city! ๐Ÿ‘ฟ ๐Ÿ™„ ๐Ÿ‘ฟ ๐Ÿ˜€

This will be a very interesting game. ๐Ÿ˜€ although it sounds like Skylanders ๐Ÿ˜

I called that Doctor Who would come out as soon as they announced Lego Dimensions! So excited! The first sets I am getting is the Back to the Future one (That hover board is going to be useful), and the Doctor Who one (Sonic Screwdriver, Tardis, and K-9? I’m there!).

I watched a very interesting video by just2good before these additional images were released. He was looking at a very-very blurry image of the side of one of the boxes and was able to figure out most of these characters. I was amazed by his skill of interpreting such tiny and blurry images, but I was also doubtful. It turned out he was right! ๐Ÿ˜€

I watched that video to, and I kind of thought he was crazy! But then he was right, so good job on his part.

        • admin May 18, 2015, 11:28 AM

Yeah, I really like his videos! ๐Ÿ˜€

Also Admin when you said “…Who also got a new….” it should be “…Who also has a new…” or “…Who also has gotten a new..” or something similar. Otherwise you sound country ๐Ÿ˜‰ .

    • admin May 17, 2015, 3:30 PM

Country and LEGO goes well together! So “Doctor Who got a new sonic screwdriver”, and that’s just that! ๐Ÿ˜€

Saw this a while back on Brickset, and have since found the new parts on them. I have no idea what Portal is (a google search only partially enlightened me), but I like the look of Chell and the stuff her set comes with, so that may be one for me to get. The rest of the new stuff is not anything I’m exited about, though Doctor Who is of course interesting. Still unsure if I even want the game, and therefore the sets, as we don’t know how many players it is. For that we must wait. ๐Ÿ˜
Also: https://brickset.com/article/15281/attack-of-the-clones The title is awesome; the content not so much. ๐Ÿ˜‰

One point to note that I’m not sure you know or have touched on is, with the different level, character,, and fun packs, they give you the instructions for the minfigure, but if you want the instructions on the build, you have to go in game to get it. I think I read that on brickfan, because I was thinking of not getting the game and just getting the builds. Looks like I will need the game too.

    • admin May 17, 2015, 8:01 PM

That’s interesting. I didn’t know that. I’m pretty sure though that it would be easy to figure out the building instructions as they are all very small creations. I also wouldn’t be surprised if people share them online.

      • BLProductions May 17, 2015, 9:00 PM

It was mentioned in the Brickset article as well. I’m used to building things without instructions, so give me the parts and a picture and I should be able to build it. No reason to spend $100+ just for instructions…. ๐Ÿ˜‰

        • admin May 17, 2015, 11:10 PM

So… would you like to LDD the Star Wars mech for me we talked about the other day? ๐Ÿ˜‰

          • BLProductions May 18, 2015, 11:08 AM

LDD it? No. That would be too hard, as mechs require lots and lots of hinging. But in real life it would be possible, all I should need is five of these: http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Geonosis-Troopers-75089?fromListing=listing ๐Ÿ˜€
Also, speaking of LDD, any ideas as to why it has not been updated for the 2015 pieces? Normally a update should have occurred by now. Without it, that SW mech will be lacking it weaponry – no rapid shooters. ๐Ÿ˜•

            • admin May 18, 2015, 11:32 AM

That’s a good point I haven’t considered. I never built a mech in LDD before. Only more static MOCs. I have discussed the possibility with someone and he was sure that you would need more than just extras of the same set. No idea why there hasn’t been any update for LDD. Maybe they just forgot.

  • Droffig May 17, 2015, 10:15 PM

when will this come out? I am a very strong valve fan and I can’t wait to play portal 2 levels!

    • admin May 17, 2015, 11:09 PM

The game will be released in September of this year, so not too far in the future. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Hรฅkan May 18, 2015, 8:00 AM

I assume these sets will be somewhat overpriced, but the mini-builds are kinda cute.

    • BLProductions May 18, 2015, 11:03 AM

You assume correctly. From the info we have now (which I’m hoping is incorrect), the Level packs are $30 and the team packs are $25. Given that none of these break 150 pieces, and there aren’t any large molds in them (besides the stands), overpriced is rather an understatement. ๐Ÿ˜•

    • admin May 18, 2015, 11:29 AM

Yeah, they are very overpriced. If you are only into the minifigs and the mini-builds, and not the game, it doesn’t really make sense. I’m planning to pick up the minifigs on BrickLink. ๐Ÿ˜‰
