LEGO Star Wars videos hints on the future

At the official LEGO Star Wars website there are some new additions to the mini-movies section that are worth checking out. Most of them are a minute long or less with no dialogue besides basic grunts, great animation, fun action, and LEGO’s characteristic humor. And there is more. Some of the videos include interesting details that we might (hopefully) see in future LEGO Star Wars sets. So let’s take a look at the latest videos. ๐Ÿ™‚

LEGO Star Wars Mini Movies

The idea that these short LEGO Star Wars movies can hint to what’s coming is not just wishful thinking. For example the new version of the dewback was first spotted in a mini-movie, which made LEGO Star Wars fans very excited and hopeful. Later the dewback was indeed released in the #75052 LEGO Star Wars Mos Eisley Cantina. So the point is that it’s interesting to watch these mini-movies not just for the fun, but also to see if you can spot something new or unusual that might indicate what’s coming in a future LEGO Star Wars set.

LEGO Star Wars Dewback

In LEGO Star Wars Mini Movie Episode 5 – T-16, which was just recently added, three Tusken Raiders are seen with a Bantha! Is this a sign that we are going to get a Bantha in a future LEGO Star Wars set? I think there is a good possibility.

LEGO Star Wars Bantha

In LEGO Star Wars Rebels – Join the Rebels and in LEGO Star Wars Rebels – Welcome to the Empire, you can see a really sweet looking R2 unit with a clear dome. I think there is a great possibility that this will be included in a future LEGO set. Especially given the fact that LEGO has been experimenting quite a bit within the last year or so with clear elements, printing on clear elements, and mixing clear and colored plastic (see for example the LEGO Legends of Chima and LEGO Ultra Agents minifigs and minifig accessories).

LEGO Star Wars Clear Dome R2

And my favorites is LEGO Star Wars Mini Movie Episode 6 – Geonosis Troopers vs. Battle Droids, which includes a super-awesome mech! Whether this mech will ever be included in a LEGO Star Wars set or not, I would really like to build it! If you are up to the challenge of recreating it in LEGO, or in LEGO Digital Designer, let me know, and maybe we can work together on it. See video below for what I’m talking about, and you can see the rest at the official LEGO Star Wars website.

So what do you think? How do you like these LEGO Star Wars mini-movies? Do you think the Bantha, the clear-domed R2 unit, and the mech will be included in any future LEGO Star Wars sets? And did you notice any other interesting details that might indicate what’s coming? Feel free to share and discuss in the comment section below! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Yes that is very interesting, but the droid with the clear dome element is already in a set. Also that set is coming out in June, and the brick show already reviewed it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxgwTJun51U

Oh, that’s so cool! Another proof that using the videos to predict future characters does work! ๐Ÿ˜€

    Now I really want a Bantha. ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ™„

Everybody should have a Bantha! ๐Ÿ˜€

NO problem at all. You probably didn’t see his comment. ๐Ÿ™‚

Same here. I wish LEGO made mini figure packs for tusken raiders and jawas . For those of us that can’t afford the more expensive sets. Like have a tribe/ species pack and not just clone and /or stormtroopers .

    • admin May 15, 2015, 1:05 PM

I just checked for you and the new type of Tusken Raiders are currently $7-$8 on BrickLink. If you wait a bit prices will likely drop so you can get more. The new Jawas are unfortunately still over $10, and may or may not come down in price. I agree; we need battle packs for them! ๐Ÿ˜€

      • BLProductions May 15, 2015, 4:12 PM

I suspect the problem with that is that Jawas aren’t of the battling type. And what would it come with? Jawas don’t use giant laser cannons or mechs, they just collect junk. But I do think they need an appearance in a smaller set, though I currently have no ideas as to what that might be. Maybe a new Watto’s Junkyard? ๐Ÿ˜

Thanks for checking for me. I have this crazy thought , that I buy a couple of the T-16’s and make a spaceport delivery service STAR WARS style . After all that’s what they were mainly use for ( eat your heart out UPS.) What do you think?

    • admin May 15, 2015, 4:48 PM

Sounds good to me! I say go for it!

  • legostuff71 May 15, 2015, 2:56 PM

Ops, I’m wrong. The T-16’s were used to police and sometimes race.

I would like to see a Bantha as well, and the Bantha in the video certainly looks LEGO enough (as in not completely impossible to make in real life), but it does seem a little too difficult to produce. Plus, when would it be released in a set? Surely not the winter 2016 wave (if there is one), that will most likely be full of Rebels and more Ep. VII. And it won’t follow the Dewback’s pattern, we already know the summer sets. ๐Ÿ˜•
Also, the Spider-man polybag set is now free on LEGO Shop US, with qualifying purchase. Just a heads up. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • admin May 15, 2015, 4:47 PM

Yeah, I now I thought about that too. But maybe there are Banthas in the new movie and it could fit in? I don’t think I will write a separate post just about Spider-Man, but yeah he is the freebie right now. ๐Ÿ˜€

      • LegoGeekOffical May 15, 2015, 7:40 PM

We will most likely not get a Bantha till two years, because of the new movie.

      • BLProductions May 15, 2015, 8:29 PM

Hm… that’s an interesting possibility. It’s possible, given how long the movie seems to spend on Tatooine.
Also, I have a question. In the 2nd alternate image (the one showing just the shuttle and rocket) here: http://brickset.com/sets/60080-1/Spaceport , is that 6×6 round brick on the bottom of the rocket a new piece? I haven’t found it anywhere else, not even LDD, but I’m not sure. I’m wondering if anyone has seen this part before. ๐Ÿ˜•

        • admin May 15, 2015, 8:34 PM

That is definitely a new piece for 2015. We should keep an eye on it to see if we can notice it in other sets. Good catch! ๐Ÿ˜€

          • BLProductions May 15, 2015, 9:44 PM

Thanks! I haven’t seen it on any other sets, though I will have to be on the lookout. BTW, so far I’m at about 95 new parts for 2015. And no doubt there will be more…. ๐Ÿ˜‰

            • admin May 16, 2015, 8:29 AM

I find that really interesting as LEGO previously said they are very careful not to introduce new parts unless they really have to. How many of those are minifigs accessories?

              • BLProductions May 16, 2015, 9:09 AM

I can’t be sure, as I don’t have the file with me now, but I think I have only 12 minifig parts listed. I might add though that very few of the 95 parts appear in only one set; most are in two or more. Also, I didn’t include the BIONICLE parts in my count, there’s over 30 of them, so I didn’t bother. So that means there’s at least 125 new parts this year. And I thought 2014 was a record. ๐Ÿ˜•

                • admin May 16, 2015, 9:59 AM

Yeah, and we are not even at the half year mark! ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

    • LegoGeekOffical May 15, 2015, 6:52 PM

Yes I am fully aware of that promotion (I have employees that research stuff like this ๐Ÿ˜€ ) ,but that is a VERY generic Spider-Man thus the only reason to get it is for the super jumper.
It would be better to wait for Winter Soldier. ๐Ÿ˜€

      • admin May 15, 2015, 8:32 PM

I agree. And those super-jumpers are dreadful and dangerous to minifigs. I don’t know how long LEGO is going to push it, but yeah, they are not well designed. ๐Ÿ™
