LEGO stop-motion video: Plastic Love

A couple of years ago I discovered by accident French LEGO stop-motion filmmaker Maxime Marion and his highly engaging and entertaining videos about two LEGO characters, Henri and Edmond. The combination of expert stop-motion animation, great storytelling and the sweetness of the French language (with English subtitles) make these short films very enjoyable. You can watch the previous video here: Fun LEGO Video – Henri & Edmon’s Adventures 🙂

A few days ago Maxime contacted me that his latest brickfilm Henri & Edmond – Plastic Love won first place at CineBrick 2015 brickfilm festival in Portugal, and has been nominated in various categories at the Bricksinmotion awards (final winners in all categories will be announced shortly). Below you can watch the entire 20-minute film. Enjoy!

That was fun, isn’t it? If you would like to learn about how this LEGO video was made, there is a short behind-the-scenes featurette highlighting some of the techniques used and challenges involved with making the film. You can watch it here, and you can also follow Maxime on his YouTube channel and at his website.

Maxime also shared that he is already working on the next episode, and he is planning to make something both crazy and original. So what do you think? How did you like the story of Henri and Edmond? What was your favorite part of the story and/or the making of the film? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below! 😉

Yeah, I really like it too! And I love French! I can listen to this video as background music. 😀

I really liked the French as well. I’ve heard so few native French speakers that I wasn’t aware of how nice it sounded. I had one roommate whose mother was French but when my roommate spoke French it sounded so rough almost maybe German-like (not trying to insult Germans). For French to be beautiful it definitely needs the proper accent and flow.

Yeah, French is the language of poets and lovers. 🙂

Wow, I love how the creator can tell such a good story without relying on fancy animation techniques and action sequences, even though the animation is top notch. The silly story line was perfect mixed with the dialouge and style. Ok I’m done gushing.

I also liked how the old style minifigs are used with just simple smiley faces. 🙂

I like that too, it feels very Lego. (I know I know, that’s not a proper usage of the word Lego.)

Cool video, liked the first one better though. my parents made me take off around $170 of my June order so bummer. Although I did strategies on witch ones to remove, the more recent ones gone, and I’ll buy those ones probably in about five months. So now my order is down to $535 🙄

There is plenty of time to get the newest sets, so you should be able to pick them up later. In general it is a good strategy to first pick up the sets that have been around for some time, so you are doing good. 😉
