LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse HQ update

A couple of weeks ago LEGO revealed images of the outside of the #75827 LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters, and even added it to the Online LEGO Shop, however we still couldn’t see the inside. However a few days ago LEGO released images of the inside as well on their Facebook page, so let’s take a look! 🙂

As you can see, the #75827 LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse HQ is massive. In fact, with over 4,600 pieces, it is the third largest set ever released by LEGO behind the #10189 LEGO Taj Mahal (5,922 pieces) and the #10179 LEGO Ultimate Collector Series Millennium Falcon (5,197 pieces). The exterior is very impressive, and the interior is full of fun details. I particularly like the various pieces of furniture and other equipment. According to the description, the LEGO Ideas Ghostbusters Ecto-1 will fit inside, although judging from the size, some of the furniture will have to be repositioned or removed, as the LEGO Ghostbusters Ecto-1 needs a 27×10 stud clearance to fit.

All in all, this is definitely the ultimate LEGO set for Ghostbusters fans, although the $350 price-tag will likely turn some people off. But based on the fact that the set comes with 4,634 pieces and the price-per-piece ratio is only 7 cents, this is a really good deal – especially with the huge number of dark-red elements. If you are planning to get this set in January, I strongly recommend that you get the #21108 LEGO Ideas Ghostbusters Ecto-1 now, because as soon as the LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters becomes available, it will be in high demand and likely hard – or even impossible – to find. You can get the #21108 LEGO Ideas Ghostbusters Ecto-1 under the LEGO Ideas section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Will VIP’s be able to preorder?

    • admin November 15, 2015, 1:22 PM

There will be no VIP pre-order on this set. In the email I received from LEGO they specifically stated that.

Awesome set. If I had the time and room.

Now maybe we can get the full TARDIS interior, heh heh 😀 . Amazing set, (I don’t need to point that out even) but not a top choice for me as far as these types of sets go. I would rather get The Temple of Airjitzu or a modular for a significantly lower price. It’s still fun to appreciate it through pictures.

The Temple of Airjitzu is a piece of art. Lots of play-features too. I just played with mine this weekend. It is a thing of beauty. 😀

It’s interesting how LEGO managed to make their 3rd largest set in history a licensed set. Ghostbusters however is a nice choice, given how popular the movie is. I’ve built much of the first floor exterior on LDD, excepting the back. It’s a pretty nice build, lots of good bricks. I note that there’s quite a few mirror stickers, which is cool. And thankfully I’ve only found two new parts (the fire pole and handle for it)… or is it three? I can’t understand how those lamps are built; it seems there’s a transparent (or gold) part between the 2×2 round piece and the cone/fez, and it may be new. I’m not sure. 😕 Anyways, the set is very nice – but I’m not getting it. 😉

You have some immense patience to recreate that set in LDD! This is going to be one of those epic collectibles that people will love to have both now and in the future. $300 seems like a lot now, but once it gets retired the price will go over the roof. Having said that, I probably won’t get it either just because I don’t have the room. But yeah, it is awesome! 😀

That part is not new, it is this part http://brickset.com/parts/6112751 used very cleverly. Any other not sure parts that I could try to figure out?! 😀

        • BLProductions November 16, 2015, 10:00 PM

I will start by saying thank you. Your comment did not convince me, because I had already thought of that piece and I was pretty sure the part in the lamp wasn’t it, as it was not thin enough, so I thought hard about it. Then I figured it out: the gold piece is an inverted Cup Without Wreath ( https://brickset.com/parts/626924 ) with a 1×1 Round Plate inside it, the top of which goes into the donut part ( https://brickset.com/parts/6055313 ). Very, very clever. 😀
And sorry Mr. Moderator for the multiple links. 😉

LEGO should hire you. Super smart solution from their part, and super smart discovery from your part! 😀

            • BLProductions November 17, 2015, 10:55 AM

              I’m planning on it. 😉
Thanks. The only problem is that I’m not the one coming up with the design… I’m the one figuring it out from pictures. But this way I learn almost every new building technique LEGO designers try, and that’s useful. 😀
Slightly off-topic, but I note that this isn’t the first time LEGO has used this lamp technique. They used it on the table lamps on the 10243 Parisian Restaurant. The difference is the use of a bottle instead of a cup. 🙂

There is someone on Reddit who also reconstructed the set in LDD. They share some interesting details: “It’s a great set! The main floor is very faithful to the film. The interior shooting location for the film only had two floors, so the top two levels are a creative mishmash. Some fun features I found out while building this and over-analyzing the images: There’s room inside all of the wardrobes to store things (the wall behind is inset a bit so you have more room). The containment unit actually folds open and a ghost trap can fit inside. It doesn’t just open up… the entire roof comes off, and the top floor is removable as well for easy play! It’s the first set I’ve seen that uses opaque white window panes (for keeping light out of the darkroom while developing photos!)” Here is the original post:

Interesting… thanks for typing that here; I’m not allowed on Reddit. His comment about the wardrobe is useful, as I was having trouble building that area of the wall last night. I saw that the roof comes off, and the top floor… I thought that was an easy-remove level when we first got images, so I agree with that. The folding sections of the building do not come off, however (except the roof). I’ve no idea what he means about the window panes, they look like plain Transparent to me. 😐

              • admin November 17, 2015, 11:25 AM

Yeah, he/she may be wrong on the window-panes. I’m not sure…

  • TheBrickLot November 16, 2015, 11:30 PM

This set is actually for sale on eBay!

    • admin November 17, 2015, 9:10 AM

Yeah, I have seen that listing. It costs a fortune though. Someone will buy them anyway because they want it for Christmas. I rather wait…
