LEGO gingerbread house ideas for the holidays!

The fall and winter holidays are perfect for LEGO fans to get creative. This could be as simple as building the official LEGO holiday sets we talked about before (see links at the end of this post), or adding holiday decorations to your current LEGO sets. And of course you can also design your own LEGO holiday projects. And because LEGO is so colorful, building gingerbread houses is a particularly fun pastime. Below I will show you some LEGO gingerbread houses I really like. They might give you some inspiration. 🙂

LEGO Gingerbread House by Parks and Wrecked Creations

One of my favorite LEGO gingerbread houses is the one by flickr member Parks and Wrecked Creations. It is built to be compatible with the LEGO Modular Buildings, and fits perfectly in between them. Notice the simple, but very effective roof design, using 2×2 round tiles in a rainbow of colors to imitate candy. There are many other sweet details as well. You can see more pictures here: LEGO GINGERBREAD HOUSE STREET

LEGO Gingerbread House by Koen

This LEGO gingerbread house was built by LEGO fan Koen. It uses a different roof technique, imitating candy and frosting on a gingerbread roof. And the use of those small white rope pieces with studs at the end to create a curvy frosting design is very impressive. You can see more pictures here: LEGO HOME SWEET HOME BY KOEN

LEGO Gingerbread House by Evie

LEGO fan Evie used a lot of transparent pieces to imitate hard candy on this LEGO gingerbread house. Looks really yummy, isn’t it? This was Evie’s very first custom LEGO building, and she did an amazing job. You can see more pictures here: LEGO GINGERBREAD HOUSE BY EVIE

LEGO Gingerbread House by registeredotter

Here is yet another approach to building a gingerbread house by LEGO fan registeredotter. Just throw a bunch of chocolate and candy on a frosted roof. You can’t go wrong with so much sweetness! You can see more pictures here: LEGO GINGERBREAD HOUSE BY REGISTEREDOTTER (UPDATE: this user deleted their account.)

LEGO Gingerbread House by tsunami007

This LEGO gingerbread house by LEGO fan tsunami007 is very similar to the official #100229 LEGO Winter Village Cottage, but with a different color-scheme, and of course lots of candy. It is a good example of using an official LEGO set to start out, and have it decorated for the holidays. You can see more pictures here: LEGO GINGERBREAD HOUSE BY TSUNAMI007

LEGO Chrismas Tree Ornaments by Chris McVeigh

And of course LEGO gingerbread houses don’t have to be big. You can also build little ones and even use them as decorations on your Christmas tree. Chris McVeigh has a lot of ideas for small and very sweet LEGO decorations, and he even makes the instructions available. You can read more about them here: Make Your Own LEGO Christmas Decorations!

#40139 LEGO Creator Gingerbread House Details

LEGO is also releasing a small gingerbread house this year that will be available during Brick Friday at the end of November, with any purchase of $99 or more. It is a great little set to get some special LEGO elements that resemble candy and other sweets. And of course don’t forget about the other holiday sets, like the #10249 LEGO Creator Winter Toy Shop, and last year’s #10245 LEGO Santa’s Workshop, which is available again. Also, you may consider the LEGO City, LEGO Star Wars and LEGO Friends Advent Calendars, as they are a really fun way to count down to Christmas. You can find them all under the seasonal section of the Online LEGO Shop.

So as you can see, there are plenty of ideas for building your own LEGO gingerbread house. I hope these examples gave you some inspiration to build your own! What do you think? Are you planning to build a LEGO gingerbread house this holiday season? Which one of the examples here do you like the most? Are there any others ones that you really like and I haven’t mentioned here? Feel free to share in the comment section below! 😉

This article made me hungry! They all look so delicious!!! BTW, the second and fifth houses are on LEGO Ideas. We can vote for them to be real sets!

Funny, I also got hungry when I wrote it! So many sweets! Thanks for mentioning about the Ideas submissions. They both seem to be doing well, so perhaps we will see an official LEGO gingerbread house in the future.

What are the odds that this is going to be the next winter village piece? I would love that.

I think there is a good possibility. 🙂

I would really like to get the official LEGO house that’s to be available during Brick Friday weekend. But I remain unsure about what to buy to get to it. 😕 Anyways, these are really cool! I like Evie’s house, all those slideshoes. And the Modular-sized one… someone went over-the-top on that street. 😉
Also, Ghostbuster’s HQ official: http://brickset.com/article/17596/75827-ghostbusters-firehouse-headquarters-official-images It does fold outward… but only on two sides. The plate layers we saw must be for the floors, then. I note how thick the walls are too. Impressive. 😀

I will definitely write up an article about the Firehouse, as there is a lot to talk about. I should probably able to squeeze it in before the end of the week. It is very interesting how it opens, isn’t it? 😀

Very interesting… and frustrating. I started building the set on LDD back when we got the first image, and now I’ve managed to build a lot more using the new images. And I’ve only just managed to determine how the hinge bricks are aligned… it’s clever, they’re set up differently than one would expect. Anyways, I’ve got about 644 pieces of the set built, and I’ve already encountered a number of difficult-to-see designs on the set. 😕

Not sure what you mean, but if you are happy, I’m happy. 😀

Hi! in a banner at lego.com it says that the promo for the gingerbread house starts at 12 AM of November 27, but on the BrickFriday Lego page says that it starts at 11:59 PM EST of November 27 so…do you know which time is the right one?
    Thanks!

    • admin November 26, 2015, 5:07 PM

Hm… good notice. The promotion start tonight at midnight EST, just like pretty much all Black Friday deals. The second one must be incorrect because it would mean midnight between Friday and Saturday, which wouldn’t make sense. If you are uncertain, just make sure the set is added to your shopping cart when you check out.
