LEGO Ninjago 2016 season poster & more!

A couple of days ago LEGO posted on their Facebook page an awesome LEGO Ninjago poster, giving us clues about the 2016 season of the Ninjago storyline and sets. The poster features Jay (the Ninja of Lightning) battling with a ragtag crew of sky pirates that includes a djinn, a mustached aviator, a samurai, a Serpentine (waving a Pirate flag), and a monkey. The image is captioned “Careful what you wish for…” 😈

LEGO Ninjago 2016 Poster

It is interesting that in this poster we see Jay featured as the prominent character. This was also the case with the teaser-trailer that we discussed earlier (see: LEGO Ninjago Season 6 Sneak-Peek), so it seems like he is going to be the prominent character during the next season. You can also see the list of episode titles here: List of LEGO Ninjago Season 6 Episodes. Hm… these pirates are very interesting. That main guy with four arms (a djinn, you called him?) is very cool, and he seems to be holding a “djinn blade with trapped Kai’ element.” That comes with the Sky Shark. (And the hilt piece is new, I think.)
I’m intrigued as to how these bad guys come to be, since (as is usual with Ninjago) we haven’t heard of these guys before. (Capt. Soto wasn’t enough, eh, LEGO?) Given Jay’s appearance on the poster, the storyline looks to concern him (a first for him); perhaps he unleashes them by accident? Although I don’t get why he’s got the Nunchucks of Lightning – haven’t the Golden Weapons been destroyed twice now? 😕
In terms of the sets, I’m interested in 70600 and 70603, and in the poster we can see Cole’s dragon (70599), the Raid Zeppelin (I think; 70603), and Misfortune’s Keep (70605). Now I want official images.

There are some images of the sets already, if you are interested. You can see them here (just scroll towards the bottom): https://jsfiddle.net/jayqfpdx/embedded/result/. I like the flying thingies. 😀

      • BLProductions November 10, 2015, 9:25 PM

Definitely interested. It’s a shame the dragons are so small (Jay’s is on the bigger side, but still smaller than the Wu Dragon). I do see some interesting part usage, which is nice, and possibly a new type of Rapid Shooter in 70602.
When you say “flying thingies,” do you mean all the little jetpacks and mini-ships? I do think they’re innovative, although I feel as though they’re a little lacking. Same with all the sets, really. It just feels like something’s missing… oh wait, a maybe it’s the storyline. 😕

        • admin November 11, 2015, 12:02 PM

My guess is that there are going to be some bigger Ninjago sets maybe a bit later in 2016. Otherwise sets in this wave do look kind of smallish. The flying thingies I was referring to the one with the sideways hot-air balloon and the pirate airship looking thing. 😀

HUGE thanks for that link, Admin! I just saw all the new Nexo Knights sets, AND the Ninjago 2016 sets! And I must say, both those themes look brilliant! I still can’t believe how awesome the NK sets look… Sorry for getting off topic. 🙁 😛

        • admin November 11, 2015, 12:04 PM

Yeah, they are awesome, aren’t they? I have been spending a lot of time looking over those pictures too! 😀

    • blarttheclownninja November 18, 2015, 11:32 AM

I noticed the hilt too… I thought they were just reusing the aero blade piece but then how does the fire blade piece attach? That’s the only thing that doesn’t seem like it would fit on there. I have an aero blade and an elemental blade piece and have tried to attach them but nothing works😢

  • Luckyest6 November 10, 2015, 12:28 PM

This is going to get good hopefully, ninjas vs. pirate genies, serpentine, monkeys, and skulkins. Its the tournament of villans! All we need is a stone warrior, mindroid, and choppe and kapaow!

    • blarttheclownninja November 18, 2015, 11:29 AM

Forgive me for possibly having a lapse of memory but who are choppe and kapaow?

  • Blaize Garmadon November 10, 2015, 2:42 PM

It’s been forever since I’ve been here!High school is absolutely insane between the school work and now my music practice, but it’s going to take a lot more than insanity to take me away from Ninjago!

These sets look awesome, and if I wasn’t broke,I’d totally buy one.And then there’s the new season coming up,but I have no idea what to expect..*sigh*Guess we’ll find out soon enough!

    • admin November 10, 2015, 2:52 PM

Nice to have you stop by! Yeah, we should be finding out soon enough what the new season is about! 😀

  • TheBrickLot November 10, 2015, 3:13 PM

I love this new wave, it looks amazing and we get a big-fig for Ninjago finally, I wish I could buy patience at a store. 🙄 I have had to work on my patience now that I’m in the LEGO news bizz (is it a bizz? Oh well) Funny thing I found out about this from Brick Set’s little Tweet box (it was from someone else to them) before they posted about it.

  • JAYTHEULTIMATENINJA November 11, 2015, 12:23 AM

    Yay! Jay’s time to shine!

  • Diamond655 November 11, 2015, 5:27 PM

Am I the only one who noticed that Jay has the Golden Nunchucks – the Golden Weapon of lightning, which should be destroyed – in his hand in the poster?

Or is that just a regular pair of golden nunchucks, and I was mistaken?

((Forgive me if he got them back sometime during the ghost arc, and I was just never told – I wouldn’t know, I haven’t been keeping very up-to-date with the story.))

    • admin November 11, 2015, 5:56 PM

That’s a good question, and I have seen other people mention it as well at other forums. I’m not sure about the answer. Maybe it will become clear during the new episodes.

      • Diamond655 November 11, 2015, 7:00 PM

To be honest with you, if it is the Nunchucks of Lightning, that honestly wouldn’t fit. They already melted down the four Golden Weapons to create the armor the Overlord wears in the final battle. How would they even recover the Golden Weapons from that?

        • Scott November 11, 2015, 7:58 PM

I wouldn’t rule out the possibility that the golden weapons come back. They seemed unrecoverable, but that was before the story had a magical wish-granting genie. Once you throw that into the equation, anything’s possible!

          • BLProductions November 11, 2015, 8:23 PM

Well, it’s difficult to discern anything about the Golden Weapons, given that the episode they were sent to space was a total mess. Jay having the Nunchucks was the second thing I noticed about the poster, but I get the feeling they’re just there to show he’s Ninja of Lightning. If you look at the sets, you can see that none of the Ninja have Golden Weapons. The two swords on Jay’s back are more prevalent, actually appearing in the sets. So, I think the Nunchucks are just for show.

            • Diamond655 November 12, 2015, 6:30 PM

That was my original thought, but then I remembered…In the Ninjago Team Pack for LEGO Dimensions, they have the actual Golden Weapons(I can tell because Kai’s sword is the all-important Dragon Blade design) instead of a simple golden katana or two for each, too.

              • kai November 13, 2015, 5:16 AM

That, I believe, is just because it’s a cool sword, also there are new golden shurikens (with the airjitsu), but they don’t appear in the TV show. So yeah, probably just for looks (the nun-chucks).

          • Diamond655 November 12, 2015, 6:31 PM

Genie? Yes, in the form of the djinn. Wish-granting? Not so much…In fact, I dare say the djinn in the picture breaks wishes.

            • admin November 12, 2015, 8:12 PM

Yes, that is in fact correct.

  • Ninjagofan November 16, 2015, 9:24 PM

It been a long time since i have been here in the brickblogger highschool has gotten in my way also the internet doesent work so i havent read amything about ninjago i am worried the episodes will come and i wont be able to see them…will you post this seasons ? We dont got the channel anymore..and thanks in advance 🙂

    • admin November 17, 2015, 9:05 AM

Long time no see! Nice to have you stop by! I would love to post the episodes, but it will really depend on if they are available at all. The last season the legal department was taking them down faster than people could post them. Pretty sad. I’m not sure why they are so nervous about a kids’ show. Many people have no access to cable but would still love to watch Ninjago. Plus, it is good for LEGO, as people will buy more sets. But anyway, yeah, it is my intention to post them, if I can. 😉

  • blarttheclownninja November 18, 2015, 11:22 AM

Anyone else see that they’re standing on a floating island with floating islands in the background in the poster? Here’s my theory; Jay finds genie/djinn trapped in bottle, possibly thinks it’s a genie if it is a Quinn, and asks for his three wishes, uses one to get back the nunchuks, possibly asks for a sky area for himself (the floating islands) and something else that allows the djinn to create his own army and start trapping the ninja into blades.

    • blarttheclownninja November 18, 2015, 11:23 AM

Sorry I meant djinn not quinn. Stupid autocorrect 😜

    • admin November 18, 2015, 8:23 PM

      Sounds good to me! 😀

  • blarttheclownninja November 18, 2015, 11:40 AM

Also if you look at the names of the bad guys Nadakhan sounds a little out of place. Is he the djinn? Also cyren sounds like something a pirate sepentine would name themselves. They always named themselves or were named by their parents (not sure how the serpentine naming process works) something about themselves i.e. spitta the venomari, bytar the anocondrai…

A siren is a beautiful demonnthatbwo u ‘d sing and lure sailors to their death and then eat them so possibly the serpentine? Tell me if you agree or disagree and why. 😊

  • blarttheclownninja November 18, 2015, 11:41 AM

My autocorrect dun goofed! Again. A siren is a beautiful demon that would sing…

Yeah, still scheduled for September 2017, last time I checked.
