These are the last two episodes of this season titled Skybound, referring to the sky pirates that are being featured throughout the season. Man,this season sure has been something.
I just kinda wanna butt in for a second and ask:
Am I the only one who’s noticed that Ninjago has progressively gotten darker?(Not very much so,but it’s there.) For instance,the ghost season..with the Preeminent.And this season I’ve picked up on a few things I’ve never noticed before, like Jay’s hints at depression and anxiety.I mean,younger kids may not notice it,but I think the creators have noticed that a lot of the fanbase has been around since the very beginning,and Ninjago has been on-going for more than five years now,so they might’ve put in a few things that related to the older viewers.
Jay cracks jokes all the time,even when he’s in the middle of flipping out,or when he thinks everything’s over.Most people may see hun ascomedy relief,but coming ffrom someone’s who’s been dealing with things like depression,anxiety,among other things for the past few years (ever since Ninjago came out when I was ten)..that’s how I cope,too.Not that it’s a healthy way of doing so,but the effort is there.
Maybe I’m just reading too much into it,though.
Also,on Twitter,I’ve seen an official poster for the season that’s coming.up.Since Kai,Lloyd,Zane,and Jay have had their own seasons,I assume that this (final?) one is going to be Cole’s season.I’m pretty sure that he’s going to have his humanity restored (either through Ninjago-esque magic or through character development.. it always seems to be a fifty-fifty chance with Ninjago) but I also hope we get to dive deeper into his character.In all honesty,I feel like he’s been reduced to just a dumb jock,which is frustrating since he’s my favorite character.
But I digress.
Man,it seems like only yesterday I discovered this site and interacted under the user “Ninja Girl” then “The Yellow Ninja.” Time certainly has passed,and I’m glad that Ninjago’s been a part of it.There’s been times when I didn’t feel like life was worth living,due to bullying at school,abuse at home and a few medical disabilities,but it’s been here ever since my dad passed..and to think that we might only have one more season and then a movie? It’s like killing off a big chunk of my childhood.
Okay,sorry for this long,rant-ish essay of a comment.. just had quite a bit to say,and this site and the people in it are the only people/things that would listen to a fifteen year-old girl rant about some Legos.XD
Gosh! So nice to have you over! I often think of you, early Ninjago fans, and the exciting days when Ninjago just started. Remember all the excitement? Speculations? Stories? It was fun!
I have also noticed that Ninjago has been getting darker and more intense, and you are right; this could very well be on purpose, as many of you who started with Ninjago as a child are now in your mid-teens. The development of the series seem to reflect Ninjago fans growing up and facing more difficult challenges.
Please don’t despair. Growing up is not easy, and at least in my experience being an adult is in many ways much easier than being a teen. Everything is so confusing when you are in this sort of twilight zone of still being a child and almost being an adult. Reach out to people who can support you. And there are things you can do on your own as well. I remember for me journaling helped a lot to sort out my thoughts and feelings and try to make sense of things.
Ninjago will never die, as long as kids remember. The series may be over one day, but you can always go back to watching the episodes, re-live the good memories, and gain strength from the bad. And we are also here if you want to “rant about some Legos” whenever you want. Ninja… GO!!! 🙂
Yeah,you’re right about it not dying off as long as we remember it.I know my mom’s been hoping it’s just a phase,but you know,a show like Ninjago only comes around every so often,and I think that’s really important that we always keep a little bit of the characters a part of us-whether it be Zane’s intelligence and quirkiness, Jay’s sense of humor,Cole’s strength,(both physically and mentally..I dunno how I’d cope with being a ghost) Kai’s drive to be something great,and Lloyd proving to all of us that we don’t have to end up the product of our circumstances.I mean,who ever would’ve thought the candy obsessed son of Lord Garmadon would be the one to take down someone like the Overlord?
And you’re right. Being a teenager is hard,especially for those who are in my living situation,but Ninjago,writing and music (I’m actually learning how to play the guitar and attending open mic nights around my hometown…it’s amazing) I honestly don’t think I’dbe here typing this.
So,yeah.Thanks to Ninjago being there for me,and you and the rest of the community always listening..and I just gotta do this for old tomes’ sake.

Also,one last thing,because I know I’m going to forget. The new season of Ninjago was supposed to air in August,but Cartoon Network is pushing it off until October.. at least that’s what I’ve read from someone who went to Comic-Con and asked about it. :p
