2016 LEGO Inside Tour Truck Show

All four dates of the LEGO Inside Tour for 2016 are now passed, which means that we can talk a bit more in detail about the tour without spoiling the experience for anyone. As we have discussed previously (see links at the end of this post), the LEGO Inside Tour is considered the ultimate experience for the few lucky LEGO fans who are accepted to participate in the tour each year. 🙂

LEGO Inside Tour

During the LEGO Inside Tour you are invited inside Ole Kirk Kristiansen’s original house, featuring an extraordinary exhibition of LEGO sets and models that date back to 1934. You also meet LEGO employees who introduce you to their daily work at the LEGO Group, and you can even take part in a unique building experience together with LEGO designers. The LEGO Inside Tour also consists of a factory tour, where you can see how LEGO bricks are produced. And at the end of the tour, participants receive a unique LEGO set exclusively produced in close cooperation with Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen for LEGO Inside Tour participants.

LEGO Inside Tour Sets

The LEGO Inside Tour sets are something different each year – usually related to LEGO’s history, or the LEGO factory. There are only about 300 of these sets produced, and they are all individually numbered. This year the set was the #4000022 LEGO Inside Tour Truck Show, based on a real truck that toured all over Europe between 1996 and 2004 with a LEGO exhibit inside, showcasing some of the new sets.

Two of the participants of the LEGO Inside Tour this year were Daniel and Oriel Tsou, who put together a really well done video-review about the 2016 LEGO Inside Tour set. They show you everything from the box, to building the set to play features, design details, and more. You can watch the full video-review below.

Nice set, isn’t it? And of course this is just one of the wonderful experiences of the LEGO Inside Tour. Registration for next year’s tour should be open sometime in November of this year (the tours themselves are done in May/June). So if you would like to participate in the 2017 tour, keep an eye on the official LEGO Inside Tour page.

So what do you think? How do you like this year’s LEGO Inside Tour set? Are you planning to participate in any of the future tours? Or would you like to? Have you been to one already? Feel free to share in the comment section below! 😉

So nice to see such a rare set! Looks great! So participants don’t know what they are getting ahead of time? Right?

That is correct. This is a surprise gift from LEGO, and you never know what you are going to get from year to year. But it generally has something to do with LEGO’s history. Online LEGO Forums have been also very good at not spoiling the surprise for anyone who goes to one of the later tours. So yeah, it’s a surprise. 🙂

Does every participant gets a set? Or people in family groups each get one? So Daniel and his wife got two and they opened one for the video?

I believe every participant would get one set each? You have paid the same price for a ticket, anyway.

And also, it feels a bit weird with a review for a set that’s nearly impossible to get hold of, anyway…

They do actually show up from time to time on sale by people who’s families got more than one. It is a good way to recoup some of the expenses of going to the tour. I always wanted to Moulding Machines, but that seems to be one of those that nobody wants to sell. 🙁

A review is very helpful because the sets don’t contain special parts (besides the stickers and maybe some minifigs), so if someone wants to build their own, they certainly can. There are even people who will reproduce the stickers for you in high quality. 🙂

Yes, every participant receives their own set. Also, the sets are slightly different for each tour as a picture of the participants is included. A really sweet addition to an already special set.

I did it this year !!!!
I was in the second group at the end of May and it was a great experience, absolutely fantastic (the visit of LEGO Idea house and the factory, the building challenge, meet many designers ex Jamie Berard or Marco Bessas, receive a very very nice gift…)
I didn’t build it yet and to see my picture on the rear of the box is incredible, i don’t still realise !
