Build your own LEGO Pokémon Go characters!

July has been Pokémon Go mania! People running around with their phones, trying to capture Pokémon. The game is particularly fun because of the augmented reality feature, which makes it look like you are finding those weird little virtual creatures in your own real world setting. So how is this connected to the LEGO hobby? Well, how about building your own Pokémon characters with LEGO bricks? 🙂

LEGO Pokemon Go 1

If you need a little help with building your own LEGO Pokémon, you might want to check out the creations of LEGO fan Cephei-Delta, who doesn’t just build awesome LEGO Pokémon (cleverly called PokéMOCs), but also shares the building instructions.

LEGO Pokemon Go 3

So far there are thirteen PokéMOCs in the collection, including Flygon, Mega Absol, Mega Ampharos, Mega Mawile, Mega Metagross, Mega Sableye, Metagross, Omastar, Starmie, Xerneas, Yveltal, Zapdos, and Zygarde 50%. You can download the LEGO Digital Designer instructions for all of the characters at the following link at Bricksafe.com: Dowload PokéMOCs Instructions

LEGO Pokemon Go 5

There are other characters in progress as well, including Kyurem-W, Mega Venusaur, Vileplume, Volcarona, Ho-Oh, Mega Sceptile, Nidoking, Shuckle, Lunala, Galvantula, and Lapras. So if you are interested to build more, you can check back at the above-mentioned link for further downloadable instructions.

LEGO Pokemon Go 4

Cephei-Delta also takes requests for further characters, and so far people suggested Deoxys, Alakazam, Meloetta, Dragonite, Diancie, Swampert, Eelektross, Volcanion, Salamence, Porygon, Garchomp, Blastoise, Cyndaquil, Fennekin, Arcanine, Solgaleo, Bellossom, Girafarig, (Mega) Gengar, Mega Manectric, Giratina (O/A), Zekrom, Reshiram, Kyurem-B, Magnemite, Magneton, Aggron, Gardevoir, Houndoom, Butt-wings, Torterra, Luxray, Mega Medicham, Slurpuff, Blaziken, Eeveelutions, Psyduck, Swellow, Metapod, Tyranitar, Articuno, and Moltres. As you can see, there are plenty to work on and there is always room to make more!

LEGO Pokemon Go 2

Please note that some of the elements used in these models may not be available in the exact color, so you may need to substitute a few pieces. For example, the modified plate with angled handles that you see in Zapdo’s feet is not available in orange at this point (only black or white). But other than that, these are some fun projects you can work on while not running after Pokémon. I recommend picking up some of the LEGO Mixels sets, as they come with a lot of great colors, pieces, and small ball-joints that can be useful for Pokémon building. Find them at the Online LEGO Shop.

So what do you think? Have you been playing Pokémon Go? How do you like the LEGO PokéMOCs? Are you planning to build some? What other characters would you like to get instructions for? Feel free to share in the comment section below! 😉

Funny, I was just browsing for Lego Pokemon! Was wondering if anybody have been building any. These are great and look well designed. Will check them out and see if I have the parts to build them.

    Seriously? LEGO Pokemon Go?

    Wow….

By the way, thank you for introducing me to MEGA BLOKS, I really love customizing the figures. I do agree that the building sets aren’t high quality.

Duncan, yeah, Pokémon Go is taking over. 🙄

I just got a few more MB figures yesterday that were released at SDCC. Will share about them as soon as I have a chance to finish my display. I also continue to stick with just the figures and accessories. Plus some of the unique printed elements. The building blocks are just not up to LEGO’s standards. But the collectors figures are awesome. 🙂

I plan to continue collecting them. The sets for young kids aren’t too bad. I got the Silly TV Minions Set and was really happy. I really want to get the Star Trek sets.

        • admin July 28, 2016, 2:19 PM

Funny, in my previous comment I was going to ask if you have seen the Star Trek sets, but then I changed my mind. Have you seen JANGBRiCKS review on the U.C.C. Enterprise? OMG! 😀

I also wanted to get the Silly TV Minions set, but it is not available to me locally. Might get it from the TRU website.

Yes I think that set is wicked. I do think it’s a little disappointing that Jane’s came with missing parts and a screwed up Spock face.

            • Duncan July 29, 2016, 8:54 AM

              I meant Jang’s Set. Darn autocheck.😀

            • admin July 29, 2016, 9:59 AM

JANG said he did get replacements. It was just a mistake. LEGO sets come with mistakes like that too. MB customer service is very good. 🙂

Okay, so, uh, first off…”Pokemons”? The plural of Pokemon is still just Pokemon. “Pokemons” as a word just does not exist.

Nitpicking aside, these are really cool.

    • admin July 28, 2016, 3:11 PM

I guess Pokémons are like Legos. 😀

      • Strider July 28, 2016, 5:26 PM

Did you mean, Lego -insert term here- s? 😀 Jk.

        • admin July 28, 2016, 5:48 PM

Ahem… do I have to answer that? :roll?:

  • BLProductions July 28, 2016, 5:03 PM

Great. Pokémon has invaded LEGO too now. I guess that’s the most popular game for the next few months. Some people have been seriously injured playing this game though… brainless people, but still. 😕 But, if we’re allowed to make suggestions, I’d like to see a Greninja or Charizard MOC, even if they’re not in the game.
Also, the Series 16 CMFs are now available on LEGO.com/shop US. Completely unannounced, but I guess since Series 16 is available at many non-LEGO stores already, they decided to just put them out. Hopefully they’ll still be available in October, the next time I’m at a LEGO store.

    • admin July 28, 2016, 5:46 PM

Bow to your Pokémon overlords… well, at least until something else takes their place. 😀

Series 16 has been available at LEGO stores for a couple of weeks now, not just at retailers. So yeah, it has been a weird release. I read that they moved it ahead of schedule because of bringing back the Disney Minifigs in September. I’m really happy with this series. William wrote a feel-guide already that I will publish on Sunday. 🙂

      • BLProductions July 28, 2016, 8:23 PM

Oh, yeah, now you mention it I remember seeing somewhere that they’re in LEGO Stores. But as far as I know, they’ve only just been added to LEGO Shop. Not sure, as I only briefly check LEGO Shop once a day or so.
Speaking of LEGO Shop, I had a look at the new version of the site launched today for Switzerland, and it’s still very glitchy. For one, my search bar is almost entirely off-screen (but it works), and whilst browsing its abilities, the site encountered an error and told me to go to LEGO CS. I barely escaped the site, as everything stopped working. So, not very good. And as many have noted, everything is far too big. Disappointed, LEGO. 😕

        • admin July 28, 2016, 8:31 PM

I got an email from LEGO that they wanted our readers to do the survey as well, so I put together a post for early next week (that was the first open publication window we had). I have been playing with the new site myself, and my initial impression wasn’t good. I have been discussing my feedback with them directly. I know also that many Brickset members filled out the survey, so hopefully they will take all those comments to heart before launching the site worldwide.

This is so awesome I’m a big fan of pokemon so I was very exited to see this .sady I don’t have a I phone so I can’t play pokemon go 😀

    • admin July 28, 2016, 5:47 PM

Well, but you have LEGO, so you can at least build some Pokémon for yourself, and capture them in real life. That’s even better than playing the virtual game. 😀

      • legotroop91 July 28, 2016, 10:03 PM

Yeah I did make a magicarp one time 😀

  • Lloydguy July 28, 2016, 8:06 PM

So, only Starmie, Omastar, and (technically) Zapdos are actually available in Pokemon GO. Only the first 151 have been released, and most of the Pokemon here are from later generations. Also, Mega Evolution isn’t a thing in Pokemon GO, either. Just thought I’d mentionn it because of the title…

    • admin July 28, 2016, 8:33 PM

As far as I know the original ideas was to do Pokémon Go characters, but then most of them were done by requests, so yeah, they are not all strictly from the game. But yes, you are correct.

  • Lego Girl July 29, 2016, 8:33 AM

Great fun ! These Pokemons look fantastic 🙂

  • Fred June 20, 2017, 11:00 AM

    • admin June 20, 2017, 11:01 AM

Fred, you’re very welcome. Enjoy the fun! 🙂
