LEGO Minecraft horses & and more!

A few days ago I was browsing LEGO’s Facebook pages and came across an image of Steve and Alex on horses! The horse will be available in the upcoming #21127 LEGO Minecraft The Fortress set, and it was nice to see such a great close-up image. 🙂

LEGO Minecraft Horses

LEGO Minecraft actually got quite a few animals already; an adult and baby pig, a brown and a red cow, a sheep, a wolf, an ocelot, a couple of spiders, and of course now we will also have a horse! There are other Minecraft animals that we haven’t yet seen in LEGO form, and could be introduced later; such as a mule, donkey, chicken, bat, rabbit, and polar bear.

As far as the horse goes, notice that besides the unique head, the rest of the body is made of common elements, so you can make more horses in different colors. Below is the designer-video where you can see more details about the #21127 LEGO Minecraft The Fortress set.

As I had mentioned previously, the LEGO Minecraft design team is very open to ideas from their fans. They regularly ask questions about what mobs and biomes Minecraft fans would like to see, and also run polls to determine which ideas are the most popular. If you have any suggestions or requests, the best way to interact with the designers is through the LEGO Minecraft Facebook page.

Another thing I wanted to show you in regards to LEGO Minecraft, is this awesome diorama from the official LEGO Minecraft website. It gives a really good idea of what can be achieved with the LEGO Minecraft collection when they are placed in a connected landscape. Very impressive, if I might say so. The diorama is actually interactive and you can click on different parts of it to find building instructions for some of the smaller add-ons. You might want to check it out.

Also, remember our last discussion about the upcoming LEGO Minecraft Skin Packs, which will bring eight more unique characters to the world of LEGO Minecraft. You can read more about them here: LEGO Minecraft Skin Packs Coming! And if you would like to see the currently available LEGO Minecraft sets, you can find them under the LEGO Minecraft section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Wow! That big diorama looks very impressive! Would love to build something like that! And the horses are great. I imagine that that heads will be expensive separately on Bricklink because the horses are only in one large set. At least for now. But they do look good.

I wonder if LEGO will make alpacas or llamas, since they are to be released in a future PC update.

I wish the horses weren’t in such an expensive set.

Oh! Interesting! Would love to see some alpacas and llamas! It very well could be that we will get some! And yeah, we need horses in cheaper sets too!

Except for the heads, aren’t the horses constructed from very basic parts?

To me, it almost feels like a throwback to 6075 (Yellow Castle) …

Btw, I found a Steve and an Enderman in a bunch of Second Hand Lego I bought in a thrift store yesterday… Kinda cute, although I’m not a hardcore Minecraft fan…

    • Håkan August 16, 2016, 2:59 PM

Apparently 6075 was numbered 375 in Europe, but that was before my time…

Also, as a kid of the 80’s, I still think that a true Lego set should have a 4-digit number starting with a 6 …

      • admin August 16, 2016, 3:00 PM

LEGO set numbers all started with a six? Why is that?

        • Håkan August 16, 2016, 3:43 PM

Yeah, I have no idea… There should be some technical reasoning behind the numbering…

5000 sets mostly seem to consist of motors and accessories… And the 6000 sets were the standard minifigure sets, I think…..
          8000 sets were Technic sets…

That’s interesting. I know they have some kind of a system now too, but I’m very bad with numbers and don’t really pay attention to them. But I know LEGO fans who just throw numbers around in their conversations and know exactly what they are talking about. 🙄

Number awareness, yeah… Seems like some sort of introverted trait, which not unsurprisingly might be extra common in various fandom groups… (Possibly some prejudice from my side…)

Wasn’t it also something called synchrenesty or something like that? Synchronicity? People associated certain numbers with certain colors? Either as a worldview, or as a mnemonic device to help remembering them… Sorry for being so vague…

              • admin August 17, 2016, 11:58 AM

Yeah, I’m a very right-brain person. Artistic, very sensitive to colors and shapes, great with my hands, but numbers? They mean nothing to me so I can’t remember them. When I lived in Chicago all the streets had names, so I could instantly visualize where something was just by hearing the street name. Now I live in a town where all the streets are numbered. When people give me directions my brain is just blank. 🙄

Seems like the 6000 era lasted roughly from the early 80’s to the early 00’s…

Many 1000 sets seem to be Limited Releases or Promotional… Although it’s difficult finding exact criteria…

Yes, as I mentioned in the post above, the horses are made of basic parts besides the head. And you are right! They do look like the old brick-built horses! That makes them even sweeter! The Minecraft characters are actually very cute. My favorite is the Creeper. It has such an interesting body with some weird angles. 🙄
