LEGO DC Super Hero Girls sets revealed!

Yesterday LEGO revealed at their Facebook Page three of the new LEGO DC Super Hero Girls sets that will be available later this year. Please note that these sets are not based on the classic Super Hero comics or movies, but a new franchise launched last year by DC Comics and Mattel. Details on the new sets and characters below. 🙂

In DC Super Hero Girls well-known DC Super Heroes like Supergirl, Batgirl, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn and Lena Luthor are dealing with the awkwardness of growing up and attending high school, with the added stress of having superpowers. The franchise includes a mini-movie series, books, action figures from Mattel, and now LEGO sets. You can find out more at the official DC Super Hero Girls website.

Three of the new LEGO DC Super Hero Girls sets will be available at the end of November, and three more are scheduled for January. The first three sets are the #41230 LEGO DC Super Hero Girls Batgirl’s Batjet, the #41231 LEGO DC Super Hero Girls Harley Quinn’s Cafe Rescue, and the #41232 LEGO Super Hero Girls Super Hero High School (see included pictures). The three sets coming out next year are the #41233 LEGO Super Hero Girls Lashina’s Action Rider, the #31234 LEGO Super Hero Girls Bumblebee’s Helicopter, and the #41235 LEGO Super Hero Girls Wonder Woman Dorm (no pictures for these yet).

The teenage Super Heroes come as LEGO mini-dolls, which make sense, as they are closer to what the characters look like in the franchise. I think they are incredibly cute. Even if you are not into mini-dolls, remember that the hairpieces and accessories are fully compatible with regular LEGO minifigures, and these hairpieces are definitely beautiful. (These Super Hero mini-dolls also remind me of the Mega Bloks Monster High figures, which are also very cute.)

The sets themselves are pretty interesting. The Batjet looks good, and that little cafe shop has some nice features. The Super Hero High School is the largest of the three sets, and I assume it will be the focal point of all the activities. Looking forward to see how the back section looks like. Also, check out those cute little monster looking things. I guess they are Kryptomites?

While there are still people who are against the LEGO mini-dolls that were first introduced with the LEGO Friends sets in 2012, they are clearly very popular with both children and adults. LEGO Friends was later joined by the LEGO Disney Princess and LEGO Elves sets, both in high demand. And now we will also have Super Hero mini-dolls! You can find the current selection under the LEGO Friends, LEGO Disney Princess, and LEGO Elves sections of the Online LEGO Shop.

Oh! These will be a hit! Love the girls! Such lovely hair pieces!

    • admin October 4, 2016, 11:22 AM

Yeah, I like those hair pieces too! 😀

Okay, these are seriously cool! Can’t wait to customize them!

    • admin October 4, 2016, 11:20 AM

You mean customizing the sets or the minifigs? 😀

…They release a super hero high school set, but they can’t be bothered for any sort of regular school?

They do realize they could have just made a normal high school set, along with some more sets involving the girls of DC Comics, and let nature take it’s course to form this anyway.

Yeah, a school as a regular set is long overdue. There are some really nice schools in the LEGO Friends line though. One even has a yellow school bus! 🙂

As I mentioned in the article, this is a line based on new DC Comics franchise called DC Super Hero Girls, and is not related to the regular Super Hero sets. I’m sure DC had significant say in how they wanted the sets and characters to look like to match the Super Hero Girls story. I included a link in the article where you can learn more about the franchise.

I took a look…Actually looks somewhat decent, for a “girl’s franchise.” Some of the character changes are quite odd(Now Poison Ivy’s just trying to adapt to her powers? What?), but others do make sense(Okay, I can see Harley being a prankster…And the joke about Killer Frost making ice cream was inevitable.)

And, uh, Starfire seems to have suffered minimal changes between main canon and Super Hero Girls canon. Which is nice. Bumblebee is there too. Never heard of her, but I’m all for bringing in the more obscure characters! 🙂

Taking a look at the sets, though…Something tells me the guy Harley’s going out with in the one set isn’t exactly normal, either…*insert insane laughter here*

LOL! That guy is Steve Trevor and works at the café. 🙄

          • Diamond655 October 4, 2016, 4:02 PM

…Y’know, it’s hard to tell, I didn’t poke around the site for that guy specifically.

Besides that, you have to admit, his hairstyle is kinda like the Suicide Squad Joker’s in blonde. 😛

Yeah, LOL! Super Heroes are not the most healthy personalities, so I wouldn’t trust any of these characters anyway. And being in high school will just make them more unstable. 😈

I remember Starfire being into free love and stuff…

It might have been toned down in the series…

  • MaLuChaNn October 4, 2016, 4:45 PM

It’s very cute, but I would just like to own the mini-dolls though and put them together with my LEGO Friends, Elves, Princesses! =)

    • admin October 4, 2016, 4:47 PM

Thanks actually my plan as well! I will likely buy the café as it is really cute, and the rest of the characters I plan to get from BrickLink. 🙂

      • MaLuChaNn October 4, 2016, 10:44 PM

Thanks for the tip! Didn’t know you can buy the mini dolls individually elsewhere. 😀👍🏻

        • admin October 4, 2016, 10:48 PM

Oh, yes, or course! You can buy any minifig individually from sellers from all over the world. I build armies, collect Friends and Elves minifigs, etc. so there is no way I could afford otherwise. 🙄

Update. More posts on Brickset. (Although the press release seems to have a typo; it should probably be Lena Luthor, not Lena Luther.)

Yeah, I got the press-release as well. Really like the other three sets too. I actually like the smaller sets better than the large ones. Nice stile and great figures. And yes, the name is Lena Luthor not Luther.

      • Håkan October 6, 2016, 5:14 PM

Yeah, I guess I do too… At least I could see your point…

On the High School, they seem to have skimped on the vehicles. They look hasty, small and rather strange…
