LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon available!

Just a quick reminder that the #75192 LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector’s Series Millennium Falcon is available for LEGO VIP members starting today, with regular release beginning on October 1st. If you would like to get the set early, and avoid the risk of backorders and delays, you have two weeks to get your hands on the set. 🙂

As we have discussed in the LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon press-release (see here), the #75192 LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector’s Series Millennium Falcon is an updated version of the #10179 LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector’s Series Millennium Falcon from 2007. You can go back to the press-release article to see all the details, and below I will repeat some of the basic info and designer-video for your convenience.

Travel the LEGO galaxy in the ultimate Millennium Falcon! Welcome to the largest, most detailed LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon model we’ve ever created—in fact, with over 7,500 pieces it is the biggest LEGO model ever sold! This amazing LEGO interpretation of Han Solo’s unforgettable Corellian freighter has all the details that Star Wazrs fans of any age could wish for, including intricate exterior detailing, upper and lower quad laser cannons, landing legs, lowering boarding ramp and a 4-minifigure cockpit with detachable canopy. Remove individual hull plates to reveal the highly detailed main hold, rear compartment and gunnery station. This amazing model also features interchangeable sensor dishes and crew, so you decide whether to play out classic LEGO Star Wars adventures with Han, Leia, Chewbacca and C-3PO, or enter the world of Episode VII and VIII with older Han, Rey, Finn and BB-8! 7,541 pieces. Price: 799.99 – BUY HERE

In the designer-video below, LEGO Star Wars model designer Hans Burkhard Schlömer, and LEGO Star Wars graphic designer Madison (Maddy) O’Neil, will show you both the exterior and interior of the Falcon, as well as the play-features, minifigures, printed elements, stickered decorations and more. So much to see here!

It’s really heard to imagine how large this set is, unless you have a chance to see it in real life. If you are lucky enough to live near an official LEGO store, the #75192 LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon should be on display. Also, if you have ever seen in person the #10179 LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector’s Series Millennium Falcon released in 2007, the two sets are actually the same size.

And, if you are looking for display options for the set, one of the most popular and practical ways LEGO fans have been displaying the earlier version of the Falcon is to encase it in a glass-top coffee table. This allows the Falcon to be fully visible, and protected without taking up extra space. Below is a wonderful example of this arrangement by LEGO fan lysanderchau. He even includes building plans for the coffee table, in case you would like to build one yourself in this flickr album.

If you missed out on the previous version of the LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon, this is your chance to add it to your collection. It really is the crown jewel of all LEGO Star Wars sets, and the dream of hardcore LEGO Star Wars fans. You can find it under the LEGO Star Wars section of the Online LEGO Shop.

What do you think? How do you like the new LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon? And how do you think it compares to the original? Do you have the previous version? And are you planning to get the new set? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below! 😉

As much as I like the coffee table display idea, I think even harder than the cost for both the table and the set is finding a spouse who’ll be about as big into Star Wars as you are! 😀 I suspect that most wives will take one look at that then look at their husbands and simply say, “no.”

    • Will September 14, 2017, 10:37 AM

It’s definitely something that looks like it would end up in man caves.

Fortunately my wife doesn’t mind since we both love LEGO. I guess the work around is to pick out monster sets both spouses like for display. Maybe a Disney Castle along side the Falcon? Either way we will see an increase in sturdy coffee table sales. ;D

Can relate! I don’t think I will get permission for this one either. One thing I thought of is to show my wife the cheaper Falcon and then get the bigger one. She won’t notice the difference in size and price. Or at least I hope.

        Famous last words…

        • Håkan September 14, 2017, 2:55 PM

          I have a bad feeling about this…

          • Will September 14, 2017, 4:37 PM

The good news is that it is large enough to hide behind in case she starts throwing things.
            😀

Have patience, The Shop @ Home site is getting hit hard. It took me 87 minutes from availability to the time I had an order confirmation.

    • Will September 14, 2017, 10:40 AM

My wife has been monitoring her twitter feed about this. One store employee told a fan that the online site sold out in roughly 2 minutes.

So, if you are desperate for one hopefully you have a nearby LEGO store since they’ll probably take a couple of days to sell out.

      • Tim September 14, 2017, 12:55 PM

The funny thing is that I just got back home after a shopping trip and I have TWO separate order confirmations! But i’m sure that Lego will cancel one. I had one order go to the confirmation and freeze before I got an order #, and I assumed that it didn’t go through.

        • Will September 14, 2017, 4:39 PM

If you got two confirmations then it probably did go through. Who knows, you could sell the second one to help pay for the first!

So the Brick Blogger will have a number of indepth articles on this monsterous set.

Currently I’m in the process of building it.

I’m taking lots of notes like how long it takes to build each of the 17 bagged steps and what you build in each of them.

Along with a traditional review I do plan on writing about the techniques in the model as well.

It just may take some time, this set is massive.

    Will

    • brickmaster September 14, 2017, 11:39 AM

Oh, you are already building it? Looking forward to the review! This set is so big, you could probably write a separate review on each section! I’m curious of how long it is going to take to build it. May have to take a week off from work! I’m sure my boss would approve taking time off from work for the serious business of building the fastest ship in the galaxy! 😀

      • Will September 14, 2017, 4:43 PM

I’m sure he’d give you the time off if you let him play with it a little after you’re done building it.

Some steps are much larger than others. The first bagged section was six fairly large bags plus it used parts from an unnumbered bag, so kind of six and a half. And that was just for the base super structure.

Well I guess I’m the unlucky one this morning. I’ve been checking the status every five to ten minutes and it went from “Coming Soon on Oct 1 2017” to “Temporarily Out Of Stock” from one check to the next. This kind of thing takes my enthusiasm down a level. Hope they will be able to supply the demand.

    • Will September 14, 2017, 4:46 PM

I do believe this is planned to be a long term set like the Death Star.

It doesn’t look to be an easy set to stock so several waves might have to come and go before it becomes a bit more reliable.

What it means for normal fans is that if you start putting money away each month now, by the time you have the $800 it will be in stock.

      Will

      • Jay Malott September 20, 2017, 12:13 PM

Thanks for the reply Will. I hope you are right. I think a lot of people have the same idea. $800 for a new, bigger and better Millennium Falcon is a bargain compared to buying the Ultimate Collector’s edition on eBay.

  • Sith015 September 14, 2017, 12:20 PM

My dream set!!! Santa, please help me!!!

    • Will September 14, 2017, 4:47 PM

You may need a couple of Santas for this one.

      Will

  • PrashBricks III September 14, 2017, 12:27 PM

Seriously, isn’t it better to just buy a housse or car with that money?
    I mean, I like Lego, but €800,-?

Actually quite sad that this is already the 8th or 9th or even 10th millenium falcon, Okay, it might not be as crappy as the other ones.

And the version before this came out like last year, and everybody wanted to have it, so that means …[calculating]… that those people have like ten millenium falcons now?!
I think you would need to buy a house to store them.

So why are they doing this? I mean, it’s out of stock in 2 minutes!? What!!?

I really think they should have made this a lot cheeper! Do you agree?

    • jabber-baby-wocky September 14, 2017, 12:41 PM

I agree, but if people keep buying expensive sets like this, Lego has no reason to make it smaller or cheaper. They are a business after all.

    • Will September 14, 2017, 5:00 PM

The price per piece still hits between the $0.10 and $0.11 mark which is what we expect for a licensed set. So it is priced fairly for the amount of LEGO you receive.

But actually what I think they are doing is finding out that they have different classes of people. What they aren’t sure of is how large is their wealthy fan base. Disney does the same thing.

In fact, there is a secret club where you pay $10,000 to be a part of and have access to special VIP areas.

This set is a similar business practice. Whether it is right or wrong is hard to say. I think the real shock is that we are finally seeing sets that are literally priced out of the general public’s ability to buy. This is a weird concept considering what LEGO sets are.

Honestly I do know other hobbies where this is not a monumental price. I spent this type of money on a guitar when I played more often just to give an example.

Now with that said, I know there will be a lot of people who buy this set when they shouldn’t. Being responsible with your money should always trump your hobby no matter how much you want it otherwise.

      Will

  • Legostuff71 September 14, 2017, 1:54 PM

I want it to be sold out and backordered till God knows when, so, I will still be $800. Richer than the person that spent that ridiculous amount of money on a over populated set. Lol. People are already going to be bankrupt before Christmas. The holiday spirit is going to consist of ” good news we got the millennium falcon. Bad news we have to sell the house . It puts people in a difficult position ( wanting to buy it) and LEGO knows this . It’s taking advantage of customers who made them this big in the first place. I think that’s wrong.

    • Will September 14, 2017, 5:06 PM

Don’t forget tax on top of that $800.

Honestly, I think LEGO is a bit late to the game when it comes to milking their customers for money. Look at Apple and their Iphones. Do people really need a new Iphone that often? And look how much they cost.

People need to get a handle on impulse control. This is nothing they need to live. Although the set is almost big enough to live in ;D.

I know I always have to remind myself, companies are not people. Therefore they will never care about people no matter what their advertisement says.

I’d actually like this set to teach people how to save their money again.

‘She may not look like much, but she’s got it where it counts, kid.’

I figured it would temporarily sell-out today, but I thought we’d have a bit more than 2 minutes to consider it.

    • Will September 14, 2017, 5:09 PM

Funny, that is one of the quotes on one of the internal boxes within the main box.

And yeah, two minutes seems a bit short.

Also wanted to mention that when I was in the Lego store a few weeks ago, they told me about the “VIP Black” thing (not sure what it means other than that you get to say you got the special status thing).

Also picked up the “brochure” for this set at the store. A couple of pages (tri-fold) nicely printed on heavy glossy paper, like if you were buying a BMW or Lexus or something. I’m trying to keep the brochure in nice pristine condition so I’ll always have that even if I don’t get to buy the set!

    • Will September 14, 2017, 5:13 PM

That brochure will probably be a collector’s item.

As for the VIP Black thing…not sure what that is.

I know at the beginning of the month they were doing a special Star Wars event for a few days.

Also, they’ve done special invites to VIP customers so you can come in early for special events. They’ve done these for early black Friday as well as a special Star Wars event.

      Will

      • Mav.Weirdo September 15, 2017, 12:23 AM

I saw something about a custom Star Wars Lego VIP card, I wonder if that is what “VIP Black” refers to.

        • Will September 15, 2017, 2:52 AM

Hmm, I’m going to meet with my local LUG on Saturday. I’ll ask around to see if any of them knows.

I’ll also drop a message to Admin in case she’s heard of it. I’d be interested to know what that is.

          Will

          • Will September 15, 2017, 11:48 AM

So this was what the Admin told me about it.

“it’s a black version of the VIP card, which everyone gets who purchases the Falcon until the end of 2017. It will have some extra benefits compared to the regular VIP card, including some special Star Wars promotion and gifts during 2018. For existing VIP members, the number associated with the card is going to be the same as their regular VIP number. That’s all I know.”

            Really interesting.

” the is force is strong on the weak minded”. ” do not underestimate the power of the Darkside.”

  • Legostuff71 September 14, 2017, 3:20 PM

Or ” this isn’t the LEGO set you’re looking for.”

    • Will September 14, 2017, 5:15 PM

      Hehe, good ones.

I’d say, “It’s like millions of LEGO fans all cried out at once, then silence..”

      Will

  • Will September 14, 2017, 5:19 PM

    Quick update about the Admin.

Still no power and a bit worried about standing water in her front lawn. The ground is really over saturated.

The Admin did plan for one more article to go up tomorrow then we’re out. And without power new articles can’t be processed.

    We’ll see what happens.

    Will

  • Legostuff71 September 14, 2017, 6:39 PM

Maybe we should fly the millennium falcon and rescue Admin .Lol. We need to also keep in mind that we just had two natural disasters and their a lot of losses. Which makes me think about the kids and what they lost ( maybe be a very special LEGO set or sets). More importantly , their homes. So, this put things in perspective. What’s more important and count your blessings.

    • Will September 15, 2017, 2:45 AM

Yeah, it’s definitely sobering when put into perspective.

      Will

  • Mav.Weirdo September 15, 2017, 12:20 AM

I notice you didn’t bother mentioning that the 10259 Winter Village Station also became available to VIPs

    • Will September 15, 2017, 2:49 AM

      Shoot, that’s out too!?

I know the Admin likes to space the nice interesting sets out and gives them their own showcase. So I know we’ll eventually talk about it.

It really feels like LEGO has been cranking out the big sets faster than most can keep up with.

I don’t know what this link is. Might be an excuse for spam or something similar.

    • admin September 16, 2017, 12:44 PM

Yeah, it was just spam. I just had it deleted. I normally catch them faster, but since I wasn’t able to log in it stayed around a bit. Don’t feed the trolls. 😉
