LEGO Star Wars: The Last Jedi sets overview

While the Star Wars Force Friday event may be over, Star Wars is still very much prominent through the rest of the month. Of course, the biggest (literally!) news this month is that LEGO VIP members will have early access to the #75192 LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector’s Series Millennium Falcon starting on September 14th (regular release will be October 1st). However a Star Wars set the size of a dinner table and the price of a mortgage payment may not be everyone’s cup of tea. So today, we will discuss the newly released LEGO Star Wars: The Last Jedi sets. 🙂

LEGO STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI SETS: There are six new sets in the LEGO Star Wars: The Last Jedi collection, including the #75176 LEGO Star Wars Transport Pod, the #75177 LEGO Star Wars First Order Heavy Scout Walker, the #75179 LEGO Star Wars Kylo Ren’s TIE Fighter, the #75188 LEGO Star Wars Resistance Bomber, the #75189 LEGO Star Wars First Order Heavy Assault Walker, and the #75190 LEGO Star Wars First Order Star Destroyer. There is also a seventh set, the #75187 LEGO Star Wars BB-8, with a large version of our favorite droid from the recent films.

It seems that BB-8 is also the most popular amongst the new LEGO Star Wars sets, as it is already showing as temporarily out of stock. A number of the other new sets are on backorder as well (which means you can still order them, but there may be some delay in delivery). This is likely the result of the Star Wars Force Friday sale, and stock should be replenished soon. Below are the product animations for all the new sets, so you can see all the play-features and minifigures, and you can find the sets under the LEGO Star Wars section of the Online LEGO Shop.

From the seven sets, I would agree that the #75187 LEGO Star Wars BB-8 is the most unique, and could be an adorable companion to the #10225 LEGO Star Wars R2-D2 released in 2012. Some of the other new sets like the #75189 LEGO Star Wars First Order Heavy Assault Walker, and the #75190 LEGO Star Wars First Order Star Destroyer are perfect for those who weren’t able to get previous versions. As there are so many new sets, we won’t be able to discuss them individually, however I have included video-reviews below by JANGBRiCKS, so you can check them out in more detail. The playlist includes an overall review of the new LEGO Star Wars: The Last Jedi collection  (first video), along with individual reviews for each of the sets. You can use the drop-down list in the upper-left corner to select the review you would like to watch.

LEGO STAR WARS BUILDABLE FIGURES: Besides the regular LEGO Star Wars sets, there is also a new wave of large buildable figures. The new characters include the #75526 LEGO Star Wars Elite TIE Fighter Pilot, the #75528 LEGO Star Wars Rey figure, the #75529 LEGO Star Wars Elite Praetorian Guard, and the #75530 LEGO Star Wars Chewbacca figure. I would say that from the four, the Praetorian Guard looks the most interesting, but all the figures are highly poseable, and look great on display.

LEGO STAR WARS ADVENT CALENDAR: I forgot to mention this at the beginning of the month when we talked about all the new LEGO sets (see: September 2017 – New LEGO Sets & Promotions), but the 2017 LEGO Advent Calendars are also now available, including the #75184 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar (pictured below), the #60155 LEGO City Advent Calendar, and the #41326 LEGO Friends Advent Calendar. This year’s LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar features seven minifigures plus BB-8 with a Santa hat. The micro-size vehicles include The Ghost, The Phantom, Stormtrooper transport, Rey’s speeder, Millennium Falcon, Snowspeeder, Kylo Ren’s Command Shuttle, Y-wing, TIE Striker, Hovertank, AT-ST, blaster cannon, snow blower and a sled with boosters. You can find it under the LEGO Star Wars section of the Online LEGO Shop.

As you can see, there is quite a large selection of new LEGO Star Wars sets that fits every taste and budget. Whether you are collecting the buildable figures, minifigures from the new films, or just looking for interesting parts, there is something for everyone. You can find all the new sets under the LEGO Star Wars section of the Online LEGO Shop.

What do you think? How do you like the new LEGO Star Wars: The Last Jedi sets? Do you have any favorites? Do you have some of them already? Feel free to share your thoughts and own review in the comment section below! 😉

For those who missed it. The Admin is alright. However, she is stuck due to the storm and will not be able to be online much.

The articles that are going up are on an automatic schedule.

We’re hoping that the repairs to the Admin’s city go quickly.

Hope admin is okay, and will get power back up soon. As far as the new Star Wars sets, my favorite is BB-8.

It’s a good thing when you can point at something like BB-8 and feel it’s cute.

You know it’s for the kids and it is not repulsive.

I’m very torn on this wave of STAR WARS sets some look like there are not even trying to make it different ( that’s not LEGO fault) and some are. It’s almost as if Disney is afraid to step out of the box alittle and try something different. Of course , we are dealing with very to line STAR WARS fan that would rip it apart if it’s a bad idea .

I know it has been a big point for Disney not to rock the boat too much, but especially in Star Wars it can be a bit hard to justify getting some of these after a while.

Now they did dismantle a good portion of the Star Wars Universe so they can have a clean slate. Perhaps with each successive movie they’ll begin pushing the envelope and shake things up.

Like you said, hardcore fans are a tough crowd to please sometimes.

Yes, first they had to make movies that can be a crossover from the old films before they would introduce something completely new. Same thing goes for the sets. But there are so many other ships, vehicles and locations they could make. Why keep remaking the old ones?

        • Håkan September 12, 2017, 3:31 PM

Well, the more obscure ships are more of a niche market, and as such might not meet the commercial requirements to be made into a set.

Yeah, we can see that just from how the LEGO Group runs their LEGO Ideas site. They need 10k votes just to know if there is sufficient interest.

The quadjumper looks interesting, but I’m very disappointed that the canopy is not printed!

    • Will September 12, 2017, 11:35 PM

You know, it always surprises me when LEGO prints on pieces and when they go to stickers.

I’m wondering if it is a case of where the parts for a set are manufactured?

But I totally get not even wanting to imagine what my stickered part will look like ten years from now.

That preatorian guard is so rad! I would like to get it just for the parts!

    • Will September 12, 2017, 11:37 PM

Any particular MOC in mind for those parts?

Or are you like me and like both the color pallet and building techniques you can make with those types of parts?

    Hey all,

I received another update from the Admin!

“UPDATE: Still no power. Our friends brought over some ice this morning to keep or fridge cold. Nice and sunny day, with no wind. Spend the day cleaning the roof and some parts of the yard that’s not flooded, and talking with neighbors. Still trapped by the downed power lines. A couple of city people came out to look at our street, and they said they will try to escalate repairs. But 23% of the city is still without power, so it may take a while… one good thing I learned today is that the airport is operational. So it seems I’m still going to Mega next week”

    Man, 23% just sounds unreal.
