A LEGO House Dream Contest for brickfilmers!

Back in February, we talked about the LEGO House, a new tourist attraction in Billund, Denmark, that combines a LEGO store, fun and educational experiences, restaurants, and more. The LEGO House is now open, and based on the reviews by LEGO fans who already checked it out, it is awesome, and definitely worth a visit. 🙂

You can read our previous discussion on the LEGO House here: The LEGO House Opening Soon & New Website! And you can also visit the LEGO House website directly at LEGOHouse.com. If you don’t live near the LEGO House, but would like to visit, LEGO is running a contest with the prize being an invitation to LEGO House in the spring of next year. Details below.

LEGO HOUSE DREAM CONTEST – OVERVIEW: The newly opened LEGO House in Billund, Denmark, is a creative experience unlike anything else. Imagine you got to visit– what would it be like? What would you expect to see? What would you expect do? Show your idea of a day at the LEGO House in a fun stop-motion video, and your dream could become a reality!

LEGO HOUSE DREAM CONTEST – HOW TO ENTER: Create your brickfilm according to the rules (see below). Please note that only original audio is allowed. Upload your video to a video hosting site of your choice and copy the URL to your video in the URL field on the entry page on LEGO’s ReBrick website. Take up to five screenshots from your video and upload them on the entry page. Use the description field to share a bit about your video and where your video’s music or sound came from – then hit submit. When you receive a “Success!” pop-up notification after clicking “submit”, your entry has successfully been submitted. The ReBrick moderation team will review it within 1-3 working days to make sure it fits all the contest rules.

LEGO HOUSE DREAM CONTEST – RULES: Your brick film can be minimum 15 seconds and maximum 30 seconds. Entries can only contain original audio made by the participant – no copyrighted or even free sound audio is allowed under any circumstances. Entries with military themes will not be eligible for the contest. Digitally-made entries are allowed in this contest, along with special effects. Entries containing defamatory or degrading elements will not be eligible for the contest. Entries consisting of or containing copies of any existing third party work or creation or infringements of any third party intellectual property right will not be eligible for the contest. Brickfilms should not contain any third party IPs. This means brickfilms containing licensed characters from Marvel and DC super heroes, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter etc. will not be eligible for the contest. This contest is perfect for brickfilmers! And the prize is amazing! So, if you like to build with LEGO, and also have some brickfilming skills, this is your chance to show off your talent. And, if you are new to brickfilming, I highly recommend checking out The LEGO Animation Book – Make Your Own LEGO Movies! by long-time brickfilmers David Pagano and David Picket we talked about before (see: The LEGO Animation Book Review & Thoughts).

What do you think? How do you like the LEGO House Dream contest? Are you planning to enter? Do you have some ideas already? Feel free to share and discuss in the comment section below! 😉

Can you build digitally for this? Like with LDD or Studi.o?

    • Håkan October 3, 2017, 3:49 PM

Can you do films with those programs?

      • admin October 3, 2017, 4:14 PM

Not really. In LDD there is an animation for assembling the set (you know; parts flying together), but other than that, you would have to use something else to make the film itself.

According to the rules, yes, you can build digitally, but you would still have to use stop-motion or some other method to make it into a film. 🙂

I saw the review about the set that you can win on Brickset this morning. It’s better than I thought. If I would know anything about brickfilming I would enter the contest. Unfortunately I don’t. Is the set going to be available from the online shop?

    • admin October 3, 2017, 4:13 PM

David, the set is currently only available at the LEGO House. It is likely that they will keep it exclusive to the venue, but you never know. 🙂

I guess that bought sets will find their way out on different markets in due time… It’s highly likely they’ll cost extra, though…

Yeah, they are already on eBay, but with an increased price, of course. Looks like LEGO is still a great investment. 😀

I would love to win visiting the place! And winning the set! Admin, are you planning to go?

    • admin October 3, 2017, 4:13 PM

Sure, I would love to go! I just have to first win the lottery… or… learn how to brickfilm! 😀

It’s not easy to make a movie, but I think nothing is impossible
