LEGO fall & winter holiday sets available now!

It’s the time of the year when LEGO releases a number of small, seasonal sets, that can make excellent little displays or stocking-stuffers for Christmas. Sometimes LEGO gives these away with purchases at official LEGO stores and the Online LEGO Shop, and at other times, you can buy them directly. This year, we get four seasonal sets that are already available, and there will likely be some other small holiday sets later this year. In addition, toy retailers like Toys’R’Us may also offer holiday LEGO sets exclusive to their stores. So, let’s take a look at what we got so far. 🙂

#40260 LEGO HALLOWEEN HAUNT: This is the first holiday set of the year, and we already talked about it some in the list of October 2017 – New LEGO Sets & Promotions. It’s a spooky little set with lots of Halloween accessories. The large pumpkin at the top is a particularly great piece that so far only appeared in a few sets. Here is the official description: Celebrate the scary season with this fun Halloween Haunt set, featuring a vampire minifigure, cauldron, fireplace and large black gates. This seasonal set also includes a skeleton figure with pumpkin head, a rat, spider and various buildable Halloween accessories – everything you need for building your very own Halloween adventure scenes. Includes 2 minifigures: a vampire and a skeleton, plus rat and spider figures. 145 pieces. Price: $9.99 – BUY HERE

#40261 LEGO THANKSGIVING HARVEST: This is such a lovely set, with all the colors of the fall season. Take a look at the nice little wagon, the brick-built turkey and scarecrow, the orange leaves on the tree, and other great accessories. Here is the official description: Celebrate Thanksgiving with this fun LEGO Thanksgiving Harvest set, featuring 2 minifigures in a harvest setting with a carriage, Thanksgiving turkey, bird, scarecrow and a colorful autumn tree. Also features buildable vegetables and accessories, including a pitchfork, basket and a bucket. Makes a great seasonal gift for LEGO fans. Includes 2 minifigures: a male and a female, plus buildable turkey and bird figures. 133 pieces. Price: $9.99 – BUY HERE

#40262 LEGO CHRISTMAS TRAIN RIDE: You might think that this little train looks a bit strange with no cab, but that’s because this is actually meant to be a sit-on-top toy train for minifigs! There are also a couple of small stalls for purchasing holiday goodies. Perfect set to add to the LEGO Winter Village layout! Here is the official description: All aboard for a festive journey with the LEGO Christmas Train Ride set, featuring a red locomotive with 2 green carriages, plus a lamppost with a city map, 2 shop stalls, a holiday tree and various accessories. Also includes 3 minifigures: a train driver, passenger and a shopkeeper. Makes a great seasonal gift for LEGO fans. Includes 3 minifigures: a train driver, passenger and a shopkeeper. 169 pieces. Price: $9.99 – BUY HERE

#40263 LEGO CHRISTMAS TOWN SQUARE: This is the second small Christmas set for the 2017 holiday season, including a brick-built Christmas tree, a snowman, and some other little bits and pieces. Notice the sweet sweaters on the two children – they have been used in other sets before, but they are always nice to get due to their usefulness in LEGO City settings. Here is the official description: Hop aboard the sleigh and head for the LEGO Christmas Town Square where you’ll find a colorful holiday tree, shop stall and a cool buildable snowman. This delightful set also includes a festively decorated lamppost, red mailbox and 3 minifigures—everything you need for a magical Christmas Eve! Includes 3 minifigures and a buildable snowman figure. 179 pieces. Price: $9.99 – BUY HERE

All four of these small sets work great as holiday gifts, that LEGO fans of all ages would be very happy with. If you would like to go with something larger, you can also check out the LEGO Advent Calendars for this year. These sets are based on traditional advent calendars, with small toys behind a tiny window for each day of December, so children can count down the days to Christmas. LEGO releases three advent calendars each year to appeal to different interests.

#60155 LEGO CITY ADVENT CALENDAR: There is nothing particularly noteworthy in this set; but it dose provide a little micro-build for each day of December leading up to Christmas. I do very much like the tiny gingerbread house though! Here is the official description: Celebrate the holidays with LEGO City flair, featuring 24 different surprises, one for each day of the season, including Santa’s sleigh, a gingerbread house, Christmas tree, plane, snowman, coast guard helicopter and much more. Includes 6 minifigures: snowboarder kid, grandma, 2 coast guard members, jungle explorer and Santa. 248 pieces. Price: $29.99 – BUY HERE

#75184 LEGO STAR WARS ADVENT CALENDAR: The LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar is usually the most popular each hear, because of the Star Wars micro-builds and special minifigures, but it is also the most expensive due to the Star Wars license. Here is the official description: Open a door of this super-fun advent calendar each day in December to discover a LEGO Star Wars themed minifigure, starship, vehicle or other collectible. There’s even a foldout playmat featuring images from Jakku, Starkiller Base and deep space for epic Star Wars encounters. Vehicles include The Ghost, The Phantom, Stormtrooper transport, Rey’s speeder, Millennium Falcon, Snowspeeder, Kylo Ren’s Command Shuttle, Y-wing, TIE Striker, Hovertank, AT-ST, blaster cannon, snow blower and a sled with boosters! This holiday gift is perfect for rebels, Sith Lords, Scavengers and any other life form, and includes 7 minifigures and a BB-8 figure. 309 pieces. Price: $39.99 – BUY HERE

#41326 LEGO FRIENDS ADVENT CALENDAR: The LEGO Friends Advent Calendar is always adorable, with lots of cute accessories. This year we get one mini-doll in an exclusive holiday outfit, a bunny, a puppy, a kitten, an hamster, a bird, foal, a snowman, jewels, flowers, and small holiday builds. Here is the official description: Open the LEGO Friends Advent Calendar each day in December to add a piece to your Christmas party scene. Includes 24 secret compartments, each containing its own buildable surprise, and a Stephanie mini-doll figure in a festive outfit. 217 pieces. Price: $29.99 – BUY HERE

LEGO WINTER VILLAGE SETS: We talked about these sets before, but for the sake of completeness I thought to mention them here again. The #10259 LEGO Winter Village Station is the latest in the collection, and it is a perfect addition to the #10254 LEGO Winter Village Holiday Train from last year. Also, the #10249 LEGO Winter Village Toy Shop from 2015 is still available as well. You can find them under the LEGO Creator section of the Online LEGO Shop.

As you can see, there are already a great selection of holiday sets to choose from, and there are likely going to be some smaller sets as well, both directly from LEGO and from various retailers. One promotion that is very popular every year and we already know about is the one run by Toys’R’Us. The Toys’R’Us Bricktober promotion offers a different set each week containing four minifigures with purchases of $50 or more. From October 1-7 you can get the #5004938 LEGO Ninjago Minifigure Collection, from October 8-14 the #5004939 LEGO Batman Movie Minifigure Collection, from October 15-21 the #5004940 LEGO City Jungle Minifigure Collection, and from October 22-28 the #5004941 LEGO Minifigures Collection. Many of these minifigs are exclusives, so they are definitely worth to get.

What do you think? How do you like this year’s holiday sets? Do you have any favorites? Are you planning to use them as gifts, collect them yourself, or both? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below! 😉

Those small holiday vignette sets look great. Definitely want to get all of them!

Yeah, they are nice little collectible, and they are also great additions to larger holiday dioramas, like the Winter Village. 🙂

The Thanksgiving set looks lovely! That’s my favorite.

The Batman Movie minifigs are awesome. So is the last collection with the city figs. As far as I can tell, the prints are all exclusive!

Yes, lots of exclusive prints there! 😀

Really like those minifigs. Is it possible to just them directly, instead of spending $50 each time?

I have heard that sometimes they will allow people to buy the sets individually if they have still some left over after the promotion. Or, if you make friends with a manager, you might be able to get some too. 😉

You would guess they’d need all the money they can get, if you give them a deal… =/

Yeah… at this point they are probably pretty open to negotiations. 😀

In previous years I’ve been able to purchase the TRU Bricktober sets after the fact. Last year I got lucky and they had one set from 3 of the 4 weeks and each were on clearance as soon as November hit.

Oh, nice! Thanks for confirming that! 🙂

Thank Goodness my little guy had an Appointment with Physio Therapy yesterday was about to get the Lego batman movie mega bat mobile set on sale and get the Lego Batman Brictobet set free. Never thought about asking about why it has a bar code on the bricktober set, maybe it is there because after the limited time to get it free was up, any leftover after promotion is now allowed to be sold off. Just a Guess 😉
