List of official LEGO YouTube channels

The official LEGO YouTube channel is a great way to watch some LEGO-related videos. It includes everything from product-videos, tutorials, alternate builds for official LEGO sets, brickfilms, animations, webisodes, trailers, and more – all in several different languages. And this is where the problem comes in; LEGO’s YouTube channel is like a giant toy-box with every imaginable toy mixed in, which makes it very difficult to navigate if you are looking for something specific. The channel has over 17K videos, and they are not organized in any type of logical way. Yes, there are some playlists, but none of them are used consistently, so finding a video, and especially a series of related videos, can be a great challenge…

To at least partially remedy this problem, LEGO recently launched several other YouTube channels, focusing on and separating out specific aspect of the hobby. While these additional LEGO YouTube channels are pretty bare right now with only a few videos, LEGO is planning to add new content to them at least once a week. So let’s take a look at the new channels.

LEGO GROUP YOUTUBE CHANNEL: “Welcome to the LEGO Group’s channel, where everything is awesome! Here, you can discover all of the wonderful things we’re doing at the LEGO company.” This channel focuses on the history and current operation of the LEGO company, so there are a number of interesting videos about the past, as well as videos from the LEGO factory and LEGO design studio. Currently, the channel has about 75K subscribers, and twelve great videos, with more to come. See here: LEGO GROUP YOUTUBE CHANNEL

LEGO LAB YOUTUBE CHANNEL: “Ever wanted to visit the Top Secret LEGO lab? Well, now you can. This is the place where you can discover the latest trends, upcoming sets and news from the LEGO universe. We’ve also got how-to videos and plenty of tips and tricks to help you with your builds!” This channel only has a bit over 100 subscribers and two videos at the time of this writing (the channel is only a week old), but I think it’s worth subscribing because of the potentially very interesting content coming in the future. See here: LEGO LAB YOUTUBE CHANNEL

LEGO FAMILY YOUTUBE CHANNEL: The focus of this channel is providing videos and tutorials for younger LEGO fans. So far, there are only three videos here, featuring the LEGO Cars line. I’m a little worried about this channel, because although it says “new videos every week”, all current videos were posted four months ago. Perhaps LEGO abandoned this outlet? Anyway, you can see it here: LEGO FAMILY YOUTUBE CHANNEL

LEGO FANTUBE YOUTUBE CHANNEL: “Welcome to LEGO FanTube, the number one destination for LEGO fans everywhere! This channel is dedicated to you, and features the most awesome LEGO content imaginable made by fans, for fans! Here you’ll find everything from LEGO speed builds, countdowns and backstage access and interviews to fan events from around the world.” This is a great channel for entertainment, and it is quite busy too, with new content posted every day. See here: LEGO FANTUBE YOUTUBE CHANNEL

LEGO GAMING YOUTUBE CHANNEL: “Welcome to the LEGO Gaming channel! That’s right, a channel dedicated to all things LEGO Games. How awesome is that?! Hold on to your controllers as we take you through a world of walkthroughs, countdowns and exciting LIVE game-plays. Not to mention our brand new LEGO Heads show, where we pit virtual and master builders against each other in the ultimate LEGO battle, using LEGO Worlds. What will they build? Who will win? The excitement is all too much!” I’m certain that if LEGO maintains this channel properly, it is going to become very popular. Currently, it only has a couple of videos, but they are well done. See here: LEGO GAMING YOUTUBE CHANNEL

LEGO YOUTUBE CHANNEL: “Hello! Welcome to the home of the official LEGO channel, thanks for dropping by! We hope to inspire and develop the builders of tomorrow, so come and join us and watch your favorite minifigure characters from LEGO Elves, The LEGO Movie, LEGO City, LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Ninjago, LEGO Bionicle and more come to life, in exclusive webisodes and stop-motion videos!” I figured I add here the main LEGO channel here as well for the sake of completeness. This channel has close to 3.5 million subscribers, and as I mentioned at the beginning, over 17K videos. If you want a big toy-box of mixed LEGO content from every imaginable theme and on every possible topic, check it out here: LEGO YOUTUBE CHANNEL

We shall see how much LEGO is committed to keeping their content separate in well-organized channels, or they will make it all even more confusing. As you can see, all of these additional channels are very new, but at least some of them are already well on their way providing interesting regular content. Perhaps not all of them will make it long term, but it’s worth keeping an eye on them to see how they do.

What do you think? Do you visit LEGO’s YouTube channels? What do you like to watch? And how do you like these additional LEGO channels? Which one are you interested in the most? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below! 😉

This is a great idea, if Lego actually follows through. Their youtube channel is such a mess. It seems like employees from different departments and different countries have access to the channel, so they just post whatever with no organization. I subscribed to the these other channels to see what happens with them, but I’m not holding my breath.

What Lego needs to do is separate out their channels by different languages. I go to their channel and often the entire first page is Friends episodes in Serbian or something. Why would I want to watch that? There should be a separate channel for every languge.

Sounds unnecessary, although I guess the channel could have some sorting or filtering.

        I think so!

I think separating out the channels would be great. The tutorials are especially awesome and they need their own place. And the episodes too, like Ninjago, Nexo Knights, Elves. It’s so hard to find them now.
