LEGO Thor: Ragnarok sets & movie poster

The Thor: Ragnarok film was released just a few days ago, and it received mostly positive reviews both from critics and the general public. In fact, it has been referred to by a number of critics as the best film in the Thor trilogy, with particular praise going towards the performances, action sequences, visuals, musical score, and humor. If you haven’t seen it yet, and you like super hero movies, you might want to check it out in a theatre near you. It’s available in standard, 3D, IMAX and IMAX 3D versions. 🙂

To celebrate the release of the film, LEGO posted a LEGO-ized version of the official movie poster at their social media pages, with the caption, “The mighty Thor is prepared to unleash his strength and assemble a team to battle the all-powerful.” I actually like the LEGO version of the poster more than the original!

Also, remember there are also a couple of LEGO sets related to the film. They were released a while ago, and we have talked about them before (see: LEGO Super Heroes 2017 Summer Sets Review), but they just became relevant with the recent release of the film. Now we can understand better what’s going on in each of the sets.

#76084 LEGO THE ULTIMATE BATTLE FOR ASGARD: Fly the Commodore spaceship and team up with Thor, Bruce Banner and Valkyrie to take on Hela, her Berserkers and the Fenris wolf in this exciting LEGO Marvel Super Heroes The Ultimate Battle for Asgard set. The Commodore has 2 dual stud shooters and a minifigure-drop function, while the buildable Fenris wolf figure features posable joints for different battle poses. Includes six minifigures with assorted weapons: Thor, Bruce Banner, Valkyrie, Hela, two Berserkers, plus a buildable Fenris wolf figure. 400 pieces. Price: $49.99 – BUY HERE

#76088 LEGO THOR VS. HULK: ARENA CRASH: Role-play an arena duel between Thor and Hulk and then team up with these two old friends to topple Grandmaster. This awesome LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Thor vs. Hulk: Arena Clash set features an arena with a sliding gate, secret weapons rack, 2 toppling pillars, smash-function wall and an opening prison cell. Use Thor’s super jumper to knock Grandmaster off his throne and Loki off his seat. Includes four minifigures with assorted weapons and accessories: Thor, Loki, Grandmaster, and a Sakaarian Guard, plus a Hulk big figure. 492 pieces. Price: $59.99 – BUY HERE

The Commodore spaceship is very swoosh-able and fun to play with, and the brick-built Fenris wolf is not bad. My favorite, however, is The Hulk outfitted as a gladiator. Such an awesome bigfig! The other minifig characters are also excellent. And I can also appreciate the gladiator arena better after the release of the film. If you want to check out the sets, they are available at the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes section of the Online LEGO Shop.

What do you think? Have you seen the Thor: Ragnarok film yet? How did you like it? And what do you think of the LEGO version of the movie poster and the LEGO sets related to the film? Are there any other scenes from the movie you would really like to see in LEGO form? Feel free to share your thoughts and own review in the comment section below! 😉

Haven’t seen the movie yet, but it’s encouraging to hear that it has good ratings. The sets could be bigger, but at least they have the main characters.

    The Hulk is the best!!!!!

Not really getting the appeal of these sets, but I admit that the Hulk looks great. Most small and medium superhero sets are just about the minifigs, and more for collectors than builders.

Yawn sets uninteresting. Minifigs look cool however not worth the set price to obtain them…

I’m also just getting some of the minifigs. But kids might like the play-features, especially the swoosh-ability of the little ship! 😀

I don’t get the “Arena Clash” at all. Maybe the source material doesn’t translate well to Lego, but it just seems like a bulky facade.

Yeah, basically that’s what it is. But that’s what arenas in real life are too. 🙄

The sets do not appeal to me either. But the minifigs are great. Wish they sold them separately.

Hopefully, one day LEGO will release a Super Heroes collectible minifig series. 😀

I’ve heard there were plans for one earlier, but the characters ended up as extremely limited Comic-Con Exclusives… =(

Yeah, and people are upset about that too. 🙁
