This looks like a fun contest, especially if you have been playing around with the LEGO BrickHeadz building techniques. And, even if you never built LEGO BrickHeadz before, this is a good time to start out and give yourself an interesting challenge. Please note that you don’t have to own any LEGO BrickHeadz sets to enter the contest. You can just use your own LEGO pieces to build in LEGO BrickHeadz style, or even use LEGO Digital Designer. It’s a good idea, however, to download instructions for some of the LEGO BrickHeadz sets, so you get an idea how they are built. And, you can also look for inspirations amongst the currently available sets under the LEGO BrickHeadz section of the Online LEGO Shop.

What do you think? How do you like this LEGO BrickHeadz brick selfie contest? Are you planning to enter? Have you been collecting and building the LEGO BrickHeadz sets? And, did you try out the LEGO BrickHeadz Go Brick Me customizer set yet? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below! 😉

Oh, lol! This looks fun! It’s going to be hard to judge though, isn’t it?

While it may seem like that, check the current entries. There are some very creative ones.

I think the deadline is a little short considering the set just recently came out. Nonetheless, great contest, and I look forward to seeing all the submissions.

Woa, some of the entries are really good. I might have to enter this one. But what if you don’t have any of the printed eyes?

I figured you could make your own by drawing on a black tile, although that might constitute “painted or cut elements”. Since photo editing software appears to be allowed, I’d assume the squares could be added in Photoshop, as well.

(It could depend on your artistic skills, however…)

I believe LDD entries are allowed so that is one way to get around not having the parts.

Otherwise, they’re apparently relatively cheap and common on Bricklink. (Not available from Bricks and Pieces, alas.)

    Man, this contest is cool!

It already made me go out and get a copy of the Go Brick Me set.

The weird thing is how subjective this contest is since they don’t want pics of fans, for obvious reasons, but recreating a selfie is a little misleading.

It would be more accurate to say it is your avatar.

All the rage is about selfies these days, so I guess LEGO just wanted to sound trendy. I agree though that an avatar contest would have been better. It seems that contestants interpreted it both ways, so I guess both avatars and selfies are good to go. 🙂

There was also a line in either the rules or guidelines that said that you could be creative, it didn’t have to be too exact. I’d go for a cool Brickheadz over one that looked exactly like me for an entry that would be likely to do better (not that a Brickheadz that looked exactly like me wouldn’t be cool! 😉 ). I think they expect people to take the avatar approach in some cases and those entries will probably not have any disadvantage in the judging.

I was already planning on getting the Go Brick Me set, but this is another good reason to pick it up!
