LEGO Creator Vestas Wind Turbine available!

The #10268 LEGO Creator Expert Vestas Wind Turbine is now available at official LEGO Stores and the Online LEGO Shop. We talked about this set previously (see: LEGO Vestas Wind Turbine Rerelease Coming!), but to recap, the #10268 LEGO Creator Expert Vestas Wind Turbine is a remake of the limited-edition #4999 LEGO Vestas Wind Turbine that was available to Vestas employees back in 2008. The set features a replica of a wind turbine made by Vestas Wind Systems, a Danish manufacturer of wind turbines, and the largest wind turbine company in the world. Below is more information about the set, including the recently released designer video. 🙂

Here is the official description of the set: Celebrate green energy innovation with the #10268 LEGO Creator Expert Vestas Wind Turbine. Developed in partnership with Vestas, this detailed, motorized LEGO model captures the elegance and graceful movement of a traditional wind turbine and features a new-for-January 2019 spruce tree, manufactured from sustainably sourced plant-based plastic. At approximately 39” (1m) high, the structure towers above a wooded hill and a house with furnished patio, mailbox, flowers and a white picket fence. Turn the nacelle left or right and switch on the included Power Functions motor to rotate the adjustable wind turbine blades and illuminate the cottage’s porch light. This collectible model has been designed to provide a challenging and rewarding building experience with a touch of nostalgia and makes a great display piece for the home or office. This big LEGO set also includes a Vestas service vehicle and 3 minifigures: 2 Vestas service technicians kitted out with safety helmets, a woman, plus a dog. Includes a LEGO Power Functions medium motor, battery box and 2 new-for-January-2018 19.6” (50cm) extension wires. Measures approximately 39” (100 cm) high, 24” (62cm) wide and 12” (31cm) deep. 826 pieces. Price: $199.99 – BUY HERE

In the designer-video below, LEGO Senior Designer Carl Merriam shares some interesting details about the history of the set, and some of the upgrades that were done for the new version. Notice that all the decorated pieces are now printed instead of stickered! And the set is huge! Carl appears to be a funny guy with a great sense of humor, and his insights about being a LEGO designer are also insightful.

I could see the #10268 LEGO Creator Vestas Wind Turbine being a very nice addition to a LEGO City diorama, or even as a standalone display. It’s elegant, yet colorful, the size is impressive, and the motorization is a nice touch. Maybe you can even use it as a desk fan! For more details and to purchase the set, visit the LEGO Creator section of the Online LEGO Shop.

What do you think? How do you like the LEGO Creator Vestas Wind Turbine set? Are you excited about this re-release? Do you have the original set? Which one do you like better? What other green energy related sets do you think LEGO should release? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below! 😉

Thanks for sharing that video, that was awesome! Funny, but recently heard someone say, “If you don’t think something will happen, it won’t.” and I really mulled that around in my head and felt it wasn’t entirely correct, and now this person helps prove that. He didn’t think he had a snowballs chance in Phoenix in July of getting a job at Lego but he at least put in the effort and it worked out.

Plus his sense of humor was fun! 😀

That’s a nice set. I like your idea of using it as a fan! LOL! Maybe even keep away dust from Lego city! I also read that the Lego Movie 2 sets may be released earlier than after Christmas. Also, a bunch of sets are on sale!

Hope you guys had a great Thanksgiving! This is a nice set, but I have some others on my shopping list that take priority. Eventually I would like to get it though.

Designer videos are often awkward with people who look like they rather be anywhere else than in front of a camera. Carl is great though. This is how all designer videos should be. It was fun to watch!

Yeah, I like the new format for the videos as well. It is more personal and allows even shy designers to relax a bit. Also, keep in mind that many LEGO designers don’t speak English as their first language, which makes them even more shy. 🙂

Yeah, I guess many people are naturally introverts, and they’ve probably also been seriously primed beforehand to avoid that they’d be making awkward jokes, or mistakenly offend somebody, etc…

Yeah, being on camera is not easy, but at least they can retake if it doesn’t work.

Hmmm, doesn’t seem to work in Europe, anyway.

        • admin November 24, 2018, 1:50 PM

Oh, I wonder why it won’t work there. 😐

There are some big sets on sale, like the Ghostbuster HQ, the Ferris Wheel, the Brick Bank, the Detective’s Office. I think admin said that those are getting retired. Get them while you can.

    • admin November 23, 2018, 10:42 PM

Yeah, and some of them already shows as sold out, so if you guys like any of them, pick them up as soon as you can as no more are going to be made!
