To celebrate the holidays, and to get us excited for The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part coming in February next year, LEGO released a fun little film titled Emmet’s Holiday Party: A LEGO Movie Short. There’s nothing like the holidays in Apocalypseburg, especially when Emmet is the one organizing the events. The much-anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed, global box office phenomenon that started it all, The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part reunites the heroes of Bricksburg in an all new action-packed adventure to save their beloved city. It’s been five years since everything was awesome and the citizens are now facing a huge new threat: LEGO DUPLO invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than it can be rebuilt. The battle to defeat the invaders and restore harmony to the LEGO universe will take Emmet, Lucy, Batman and their friends to faraway, unexplored worlds, including a strange galaxy where everything is a musical. It will test their courage, creativity and Master Building skills, and reveal just how special they really are. But for now, they are all celebrating the holidays!
That was fun, isn’t it? I can’t wait for the movie! I expect it to be just as good as the first film with awesome characters, lots of LEGO humor, and gorgeous visuals. Also, The LEGO Movie 2 sets are starting to trickle in. You can find all the January sets listed at The LEGO Movie 2 section of the Online LEGO Shop, and two of them are already available for purchase (the others will be available on January 1st).
Besides the standard sets for The LEGO Movie 2 that will be available in January, the very large #70840 LEGO Movie 2 Welcome to Apocalypseburg! set was also revealed. It is not clear when this massive, 3,178 piece set is going to be available, but you can see some of the details in the following video-preview by JANGBRiCKS.
LEGO gave us some fantastic sets in 2018, including all the new LEGO Harry Potter sets (including the stunning #71043 LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle), the new LEGO Jurassic World sets, the #76105 LEGO Super Heroes The Hulkbuster: Ultron Edition, the #10260 LEGO Creator Downtown Diner, the #21311 LEGO Ideas Voltron, the #42083 LEGO Technic Bugatti Chiron (and some other great LEGO Technic sets), the #75181 LEGO Star Wars Y-Wing Starfighter, the #75222 LEGO Star Wars Betrayal at Cloud City, two new LEGO City trains with the new LEGO Power Functions 2.0 system, the #70657 LEGO Ninjago City Docks, and the #10261 LEGO Creator Roller Coaster to name a few. And, it already looks like 2019 is going to be another great year with sets like the #10264 LEGO Creator Corner Garage, some really interesting LEGO Minecraft sets, the whole new LEGO Overwatch collection, the LEGO Ninjago Legacy sets, some fun small and medium sized LEGO Star Wars sets, more LEGO Speed Champions sets, the very unique LEGO FORMA set, and of course the whole collection from The LEGO Movie 2.

Merry Christmas Everyone and have A Groovy New Year
So, is it better to buy a large and expensive set or to buy a few medium to smaller sets? I’m thinking of the Lego movie 2 sets. I like the emmets house and a couple of the $30 sets. 🎅🤶 have a very merry Christmas and may your Christmas trees be piled with Lego sets underneath it.
We like small sets because that way our boys can each get one and they won’t fight over them. But I’m sure adult collectors think in a different way. I don’t like sets that are too big, as they take up so much room, and if the kids knock it over, it takes forever to fix. Although I like the huge Millennium Falcon, it would be totally impractical in our household.
I really like the Apocalypseburg set. I don’t know how it will fit witn anything else in my collection, but I think it is going to be a must buy.
