The #75936 LEGO Jurassic Park: T. Rex Rampage set is going to be available directly from LEGO on June 19th via official LEGO stores and the Online LEGO Shop. Prices are as follows: US $249.99 – CA $299.99 – DE €249.99 – UK £219.99 – FR €249.99 – DK 1899DKK (Euro pricing varies by country). For more details and pictures visit the LEGO Jurassic World section of the Online LEGO Shop.

It’s interesting to note that back in 2013, there was a Jurassic Park project submitted to LEGO Ideas that is quite similar to the current set. It was designed by LEGO fan senteosan, and rapidly gathered supporters. However, it was archived early by the LEGO Ideas team due to licensing conflict with the franchise. A year later, when LEGO got back the license, the same project was allowed again, and it achieved 10,000 votes in just a month and a half. Unfortunately, it was not selected to become an official LEGO set. This project used a similar technique of wedge plates on their sides to build the gate, had a brick-built T. Rex, and also included a vehicle.

This is probably my only criticism of the #75936 LEGO Jurassic Park: T. Rex Rampage set; I wish it included a vehicle. The gate itself, the little vignettes added to the gate, the T. Rex, the minifigs and the display-stand all look good, but a vehicle would have added a more complete experience and additional play-value. We do get some vehicles in the LEGO Jurassic World/Jurassic Park sets, but none of them has the classic color scheme from the original film. For an over 3,000-piece set, the price is good, but on the other hand for a $250 building toy, people usually expect a complete experience without the need to add anything else.

What do you think? How do you like the #75936 LEGO Jurassic Park: T. Rex Rampage set? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below! Also, remember that there are several regular LEGO Jurassic World sets coming in July. The T Rex looks amazing! I hope the Jurassic Park sign is not stickers. Really cool that they put the scenes inside the gate. Nice set, but first I would like to see the designer video and a couple of reviews before making a purchase decision.

The gate looks fantastic with how all those wedge pieces come together. All those little scenes at the back are an interesting idea. The dino is cool too. But no jeep?? We have to have at least one jeep!!!!

    • LEGOJeff June 11, 2019, 10:19 AM

Maybe they will have a separate set for that? They did that with the Ghostbusters HQ and the Ecto 1. I agree we need a jeep, but the set is so expensive already. I’m wondering how senteosan feels about this set. After all, it’s almost an exact copy of his Ideas project.

I think those scenes in the gate are weird. Especially the toilet. Come on, this is not a set for toddlers! We don’t need toilet jokes. But the gate itself is spot on. The minifigs and dino are okay. Not sure about buying this set, but I can see the appeal.

Well, a toilet is fairly realistic, if you need to fill up the space of something.

And I might misremember the film, but wasn’t it a scene where that creepy hacker got attacked by a T-Rex hiding in the toilet?

    • Håkan June 11, 2019, 6:48 PM

Hmmm, I mixed things up. Dennis Nedry (subtle, subtle…) got eaten when his car stopped, but the lawyer Donald Gennaro got eaten hiding in the toilet…

        LOL! Yeah, I think you’re right! 😈

        • Håkan June 12, 2019, 3:02 PM

Hmm, apparently Donald Gennaro hasn’t appeared in any set yet, so perhaps there’ll be an accompanying jeep… with an accompanying Donald Gennaro minifig…

Can’t wait to buy a couple of these and sell them on Amazon, and piece them out on ebay! That John hammond is gonna go for at least $50!

  • DavidH June 11, 2019, 10:25 AM

What’ve they got in there? King Kong? Sorry, couldn’t help myself. We really need a jeep with this set. They could have made the dino or the gate a little smaller, or just take out those vignettes to include the jeep.

  • brickhead June 11, 2019, 10:31 AM

The picture of the set on the bookshelf really puts into perspective the massive size of the T rex. I hope it won’t fall apart easily! Nobody mentioned this yet, but I like those broken egg shells!

  • TomTom June 11, 2019, 10:42 AM

I like the set, but why is the Jurassic World logo on the box and on the plaque? It’s clearly a set for fans of the classic Jurassic Park! That kind of ruins it for collectors.

    • Giza June 11, 2019, 11:40 AM

It is part of the Jurassic World Legacy line. All other Jurassic World legacy merchandise has the same logo. I know it’s not ideal, but it’s not lego’s fault.

Not bad, but I was hoping for a visitor center….

UPDATE: Based on discussions by the LEGO fan community about the similarity of this set to the LEGO Ideas project, the LEGO Ideas team and the Jurassic Park Design team released the following statement via the LEGO Ambassador Network:

Although the new #75936 Jurassic Park T-Rex Rampage set shares similarities in design to the LEGO Ideas submission “Jurassic Park” by senteosan, this model was developed entirely internally by a team of LEGO designers who create great new sets that kids and adult fans alike are passionate about. The basis of their model was a large, grey, brick-built T-Rex created by LEGO Designer Mike Psiaki in 2012 when he joined the LEGO Group and from there the model evolved by including the iconic Jurassic Park gates to add additional building experience and value for “Expert” builders.

In our desire to continue to allow LEGO Ideas members to submit product ideas based on third-party licenses, we have in the LEGO Ideas guidelines acknowledged the fact that there may occur unintentional overlaps between products being developed internally by our design teams and those submitted by fans via LEGO Ideas. This is simply because great minds think alike sometimes, especially when basing designs on popular licenses of movies, TV shows, vehicles, buildings and more, with whom we either already collaborate with or who fit the LEGO brand values for potential future collaborations.

  • Giza June 11, 2019, 11:45 AM

Thank you for the update, admin. It makes sense that sets based on an IP will look similar. I guess the Ideas project made it clear to lego that this is definitely a set that should be made. At least they could send a copy to the fan designer for that service.

Wow! It’s bigger than I thought! Forget about the gate, I want the massive Trex!

  • Legostuff14 June 11, 2019, 1:04 PM

I just finished collecting most of the Jurassic world Fallen Kingdom sets and I’m going to build them as soon as I’m done building my star wars sets. That T-Rex set is so awesome looking. A must have but, the price is a bit much for my wallet right now. ” hold on to your butts” . I couldn’t help myself to David H. Lol!

A brick-built T-Rex? That gate is magnificent too. Pretty amazing set!
