September 2019 – New LEGO Sets & Promotions

There are several new LEGO sets and promotions for the month of September, and we will take a look at them below. Also, as we discussed a few days ago (see: Online LEGO Shop & LEGO.com Changes), LEGO’s website went through some fairly major changes, so if you get lost, read through that discussion, or let us know what you are trying to find in the comment section at the end of this post and myself or other readers should be able to help you out. And now, let’s dive into what September brings us!

FREE LEGO BRICKHEADZ BUMBLE BEE & YEAR OF THE PIG: There are a couple of promotions that started towards the end of last month and will last through the first week of September. You will get a free #40270 LEGO BrickHeadz Bumble Bee with purchases of $65 or more, and you can also get a free #40186 LEGO Year of the Pig if you purchase the #80103 LEGO Dragon Boat Race. Both offers are valid until September 8th at official LEGO stores and the Online LEGO Shop.

FREE LEGO HIDDEN SIDE SET: During the first month of September (2-15), you will get a free #40336 LEGO Hidden Side Newbury Juice Bar with purchases of $50 or more. This is a fantastic addition to the new LEGO Hidden Side collection, or for just getting some interesting parts. This offer is valid at official LEGO stores and the Online LEGO Shop.

LEGO HIDDEN SIDE SETS: As you can see from the LEGO Store Calendar for September, LEGO is heavily promoting the new LEGO Hidden Side sets. We talked about the sets previously (see: LEGO Hidden Side Sets & App Overview), but in brief, they mix physical and virtual play (via the LEGO Hidden Side app). The play-features are interesting, and the parts selection is excellent! You can find them all at the LEGO Hidden Side section of the Online LEGO Shop.

FREE LEGO STORAGE BUCKET: Towards the end of September (23-28) you can get a free #5005630 LEGO Storage Bucket with purchases of $100 or more. The bucket features durable 600D RPET polyester fabric made from recycled beverage bottles, an open main compartment with a plastic ring sewn into the top seam for easy access and an easy-clean clear EVA plastic base. (According to LEGO, manufacturing this bag with recycled instead of virgin polyester reduces energy use by 50%, water use by 20%, and air pollution by 60%. Each bucket saves approximately 5 plastic bottles from landfill.) The bucket also has 4 side pockets with LEGO knob print design and sturdy webbing handles for easy transport. The bucket collapses flat when empty for easy packing or storage. Measures over 9” (25cm) high, 10” (27cm) wide and 9” (25cm) deep. This offer is valid at official LEGO stores and the Online LEGO Shop.

LEGO DISNEY TRAIN & STATION AVAILABLE: The #71044 LEGO Disney Train and Station set is now available for everyone, not just LEGO VIP members. We reviewed this set in detail here: LEGO Disney Train & Station Review. The set features an accurate replica of the Disney train and station, exclusive minifigures, and Powered Up components to run the train via the LEGO Powered Up app. It is available at the LEGO Disney section of the Online LEGO Shop.

LEGO IDEAS CENTRAL PERK SET AVAILABLE: This is a brand new, just-released set! Celebrate the 25th anniversary of FRIENDS, the legendary American TV sitcom, with this highly collectible #21319 LEGO Ideas Central Perk set! This wonderful LEGO recreation of the café TV studio set is packed with authentic details, making it a must-have Friends memorabilia item for fans. The iconic seating area with a couch, armchair, and 2 chairs for the friends is removable for easy play. And, check out the stage where Phoebe performed her songs on guitar (and where Ross once played his keyboard and everyone except Phoebe thought he was terrible). The 7 new-for-September-2019 LEGO toy minifigures of Ross, Rachel, Chandler, Monica, Joey, Phoebe, and Central Perk’s long-suffering manager Gunther each come with accessories to role-play famously hilarious scenes. An ideal FRIENDS-themed gift for your own friends and family who love the TV show, this hot toy is great for play and will grab attention when displayed in any room. Available at the LEGO Ideas section of the Online LEGO Shop.

2019 LEGO ADVENT CALENDARS AVAILABLE: Three of the 2019 LEGO Advent Calendars are now available; the #41382 LEGO Friends Advent Calendar, the #60235 LEGO City Advent Calendar, and the #75964 LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar. As of this writing, the #75245 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar was not yet available, but it should be listed soon. The advent calendars are a great way to count down to Christmas, or just get them for the interesting and unusual parts and colors. They are available at the Seasonal section of the Online LEGO Shop.

LEGO COLLECTIBLE MINIFIGURES SERIES 19: This highly praised series of Collectible Minifigures is now available! It includes the following 16 characters: Dog Sitter, Video Game Champ, Shower Guy, Rugby Player, Bear Costume Guy, Pizza Costume Guy, Galactic Bounty Hunter, Monkey King, Programmer, Gardener, Mountain Biker, Fire Fighter, Fright Knight, Jungle Explorer, Mummy Queen, and Fox Costume Girl! I would suggest looking for these at local stores as that way you can search for the minifigure you want, or you can also order random ones at the LEGO Minifigures section of the Online LEGO Shop.

LEGO BRICKHEADZ HALLOWEEN GHOST AVAILABLE: Also LEGO no longer releases large numbers of BrickHeadz sets like they have done in previous years, they still offer a few special characters from time to time. The latest addition is the #40351 LEGO BrickHeadz Halloween Ghost with a cute brick-built ghost figure with transparent pieces at its base to create a floating effect. The spooky Halloween scene the ghost stands on features a buildable tombstone, a jack-o’-lantern, plus a bat and a spider. You can find the set at the LEGO BrickHeadz section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Besides the above-mentioned new sets, remember that LEGO released a huge number of new sets last month. You can take a look at the August 2019 – New LEGO Sets & Promotions article for a full list, and here are some of the highlights: the highly detailed #10269 LEGO Creator Expert Harley-Davidson Fat Boy, the beautiful #21318 LEGO Ideas Treehouse, the #75936 LEGO Jurassic Park: T. Rex Rampage with a giant dino, the #75253 LEGO Star Wars Droid Commander robotics set, the #10265 LEGO Creator Ford Mustang, the #75810 LEGO Stranger Things Upside Down, and much more. You can find them all at the New tab of the Online LEGO Shop. Also, check the Sale section of the Online LEGO Shop. I found some really good sets on clearance there recently.

What do you think? How do you like all the new sets and themes? Are you planning to get anything this month? Which sets are your favorites? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below!

I got my first Brick Headz this past week from the Lego store, the bee freebie for buying The Assembly Square. I had to laugh to myself when the employee who almost forgot to give me one mentioned it was the Valentines Brick Headz model. Mostly just not used to getting Valentine’s Days related stuff when it’s almost September. 😀

Probably just gonna toss the parts into the part bin.

The Assembly Square was a lot of fun to build, itself! 😉

They probably had a bunch of brickheadz bees left from earlier this year. It’s still funny though, but it comes with a bunch of the new roses, so it’s good for parts. I’m all in for Hidden Side. Such a cool theme!

If you guys get hidden side, make sure you have a compatible device!

The FRIENDS set looks amazing. This is how they should have done the Big Bang Theory set too. The promotions are weird though. I don’t care for that bag or Valentine’s day brickheadz. The Hidden Side freebie is cool.

Hmm, bought a bunch of the CMF’s via specialized online Lego stores in Sweden. I guess I had to pay extra both for the preopening and sorting and the postal costs, but I was too lazy and poor at feeling out the bags, so I splurged a bit…

I think I said this before, but I wish the Disney set came in two parts. It looks beautiful, but the price is hard to swallow at once. Does it work well with the app, and does the app work with most smartphones?

So far the app to control the new Powered Up system seems pretty compatible with most smart phones.

The Hidden Side game app on the other hand is a bit more demanding.

For the most part, if the app store says you can download it, chances are you’re okay.

I couldn’t get any mystery minifigures bags this week because the Lego store ran out.( they only had two boxes). I am however interested in the city ski patrol set. Finally, I have a set to go with my rescue helicopter from last year. I have most of the hidden side sets ( I got them for my birthday).

Did you try the Hidden Side app? How do you like it?

      • Hayato September 3, 2019, 5:19 PM

We couldn’t use the app. It was very disappointing. You have to have the latest phone or tablet to use it.

I wonder how hard it would be possible to convert the Disney station into a modular. By adding another story, you could make it into the same height as the other modulars, and it could be a school, library, museum, or government building. I like how it looks, but I don’t care for Disney sets.

    • Master Builder September 3, 2019, 4:00 PM

You could use other colors or at least textures (plain dark-red bricks instead of the masonry bricks for the lower level, which should bring the price down. You will have to figure out how to fill the back section as the station is pretty shallow. The building reminds me of the Fire Brigade, so yes, it could make a nice modular. The question is if it’s worth the price to do it.

      • Håkan September 4, 2019, 6:37 PM

If the train system won’t interest you at all, I’d figure it just isn’t worth the premium cost.

  • Legostuff14 September 3, 2019, 4:00 PM

Anything is possible with Lego. Sadly I can’t get the hidden side app on my phone, but, that doesn’t bother me that much because the sets are just too cool just as sets for my City.
