The Mandalorian Trailer in LEGO & More!

If you are a LEGO Star Wars fan, you have been probably watching The Mandalorian TV series. Star Wars: The Mandalorian premiered on Disney+ on November 12th, with new episodes released every Friday for a total of eight episodes in the first season (a second season is already in the works). The series takes place five years after the events of Return of the Jedi, and follows the adventures of a Mandalorian bounty hunter.

Unlike the recent Star Wars films, which gathered mixed reviews, The Mandalorian has been received by overwhelming positivity. I don’t want to spoil the story for you in case you haven’t seen the episodes yet, but the combination of space adventure and classic Western films with a Clint Eastwood-esque main character has been extremely effective. And there is also the irresistibly adorable Baby Yoda, who is not really Yoda when he was a baby, but a similar creature from an unknown species and only referred to as the Child in the TV series.

To celebrate the release of the series, LEGO animator Brick Force Studios released a LEGO stop-motion animation version of The Mandalorian trailer. The animation is collaboration between Karol Pikula of Brick Force Studios (animation, edit, and VFX), Kamil Adam Janko of MegaSpaceFighter (animation, graphics, and image refining), and Pawel Kaminski of pkmovies92 (3D models and landscapes). In the player below, you can watch both the LEGO version of the trailer, as well as the side-by-side comparison with the original trailer.

LEGO fans can be fairly certain that LEGO is going to release sets related to The Mandalorian TV series. In fact, at least one set was already revealed; the #75267 LEGO Star Wars Mandalorian Battle Pack. The set contains four Mandalorians wearing different colored and highly detailed armors and helmets, as well as a speeder and small terrain. I expect this set to be extremely popular when it gets released.

Although there is no news on this at the time of this article, I also expect LEGO to release a set with Baby Yoda in the near future. I have already seen some sweet versions of Baby Yoda made by LEGO fans. Below, you can see Baby Yoda from the TV series, a LEGO micro-figure version of Baby Yoda (creator unknown), and two versions of the Mandalorian and Baby Yoda in LEGO BrickHeadz style (first image by Eric Druon, second image creator unknown). The last brick-built Baby Yoda is by LEGO fan Miro, and you can download free building instructions at his LEGO Rebrickable page.

Those baby yodas are really cute. I haven’t watched all the episodes yet, but plan to. I liked the first one, and the second one was a little slow, but I heard it gets better again.

The side by side is awesome. They got very close to the original trailer. I can’t wait for Lego Baby Yoda! I think they will have to give him a special mold because regular Yoda already has short legs. Maybe like the babies?

The Mandalorian is better than some of the recent movies. I really like the Western vibe. The music especially.

I hope they are aware of how popular that Mandalorian Battle Pack is going to be and make enough of them! The tv show has been surprisingly good. Not as action-packed as the movies, but still very good. I like Miro’s Baby Yoda. May build him during the holidays.

I want the mandalorians too! I hope they will have it available.

      And yes, I like giraffes.

Sadly, my cable/ internet service doesn’t have the rights to sell me Disney +. I watch the comments on YouTube on a website called ” Star Wars explained”. They are very good and detailed about what they saw on the show. I’m going to be getting probably a lot of the Mandalorian Battle Packs next year.( The new resistance. )The baby yoda is so adorable it’s almost dangerous. Lol!

I was reading earlier today that there is a war going on between Disney and fans over Baby Yoda. Disney didn’t release any Baby Yoda merchandise for Christmas, which is completely stupid.

So people are making their own Baby Yoda t-shirts, hats, and crocheted Baby Yoda dolls and making a killing. Disney’s legal department is trying to hunt them down. Probably one of the biggest fails in Disney’s history.

Ha-ha! The Crochet Needle Wars! 😀

Baby Yoda is indeed dangerous! The cuteness is overpowering the minds of everyone who looks at him, including Mandalorians, bounty hunters, and ordinary humans! 😀

Ah yeah, Baby Yoda is another Yoda from the same species (which apparently is one of the few major species the Star Wars yet has to officially name).

It also seems to be inspired by the old Japanese cult manga “Lone Wolf and Cub”, from the 70’s, I think.

My understanding is that The Mandalorian is based on The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly and similar spaghetti Westerns. You can clearly see this in the pub scenes, the characters, and the music score. And the Mandalorian adopting Baby Yoda is a tradition Mandalorians had for adopting war orphans as “foundlings”. But of course, it could also have traces of manga.

A friend noted that episode 4 “Sanctuary” seemed highly inspired by “The Seven Samurai” (which of course already has been remade as the western “The Magnificent Seven). Inspiration travels back and forth constantly.

Yes, Episode 4 took place in what is basically a samurai fishing village. 🙂

“The cuteness is strong with this one”. “We must be cautious”. If the baby yoda feels a disturbance in the force, it’s probably because he needs a diaper change. Lol!

Haha very funny. Yes it is. Thanks for sharing it my day. 😁

” it made my day” it’s funny how your brain works faster than your fingers.. lol!

Well as the unpopular opinion I must say that way too much emphasis is placed on mini figures. Why are these so popular? Mine are mostly kicking around in parts buckets. I typically won’t display them. Even my Batmobile will be displayed as the car only. Mini figs are for children to play with and are not display worthy.

    • Håkan December 5, 2019, 8:59 PM

Well, one thing is that the main building system isn’t something Lego owns the patent to, unlike the minifig. Secondly, the minifig is iconic and holds an intrinsic value to collectors, besides increasing the play value for children.
