2020 LEGO Xtra Botanical & Sports Accessories

A couple of days ago, we discussed the large selection of new sets released for the New Year (see: January 2020 – New LEGO Sets & Promotions). However, there are a couple of small, but still very useful supplementary sets I forgot to mention under the LEGO Xtra collection. We talked about LEGO Xtra sets previously (see links at the end of this post). In summary, they are small and inexpensive sets with many useful pieces to enhance your LEGO scenes.

In 2018, we got five LEGO-xtra accessory packs; the #40309 LEGO Xtra Food Accessories, the #40310 LEGO Xtra Botanical Accessories, the #40311 LEGO Xtra Traffic Lights pack, the #40312 LEGO Xtra Streetlamps pack, and the #40313 LEGO Xtra Bicycles . In 2019, two more packs were added; the #40341 LEGO-xtra Sea Accessories , and the #40368 LEGO Xtra Christmas Accessories. All of these packs are super useful for expanding LEGO City dioramas and they only costs $3.99 each. They are available at the LEGO xtra section of the Online LEGO Shop.

For 2020, we get two new packs. The #40375 LEGO Xtra Sports Accessories features an array of LEGO sporting equipment, including hockey sticks, goals and a puck, roller skates, ice skates, a buildable archery target and bow, skis and ski poles, minifigure helmets, and a trophy. I really like that proper ski poles and hockey sticks were included, instead of just using the standard rods.

The #40376 LEGO Xtra Botanical Accessories is quite similar to the previously released the #40310 LEGO Xtra Botanical Accessories, but there are some differences as well. The earlier set comes white fences, flowers in three different colors (white, yellow, and red) along with flower stems, three different larger plant moulds, a couple of different size leaves, and some yellow frogs. The new set comes brown fences, tree leaves in white and lime-green, two different flowers in three colors, two moulded trees, one brick-built tree, and small flower stems and leaf pieces. These are some of the most useful of all the LEGO Xtra sets, and the good news is that both of them are available at the same time, so you can easily stock up on botanical accessories.

I’m very happy to see that LEGO is continuing to release LEGO Xtra packs as they are super useful. Some of the packs are mostly for modern city builders and you may not need a ton of them, but others, like the food and botanical accessories could be used in large quantities for many different settings and time periods. All nine packs released since 2018 are still available, and the limit on them is 50 per household, so you can get plenty for your customizing needs. They are available at the LEGO Xtra section of the Online LEGO Shop.

What do you think? Do you have any of the LEGO Xtra packs? Which do you find the most useful? And what other accessory packs would you like to see in the future? Feel free to share and discuss in the comment section below!

The botanical accessories seem very useful. They should release more accessory bags like this. Not just two a year.

These polybags are like the collectible minifigs. Some of them are okay as one time purchases, and others are army builders that you want multiples of. I consider the botanical sets army builders. Always useful and never enough.

Now I’m envisioning an army of bushes and trees! 😀

        They’re called “ents” 😉

I have several of the other plants bag, and I will get this one too. It comes with orange leaves! I don’t have much use for the other one, so maybe just get one of them.

I don’t know if you still can but I was able to bulk buy botanical plant pieces direct from Lego. I can’t remember the exact prices but I ordered something like 2000 of the 5×6 leaves in different colours and 4000 grass/plant stems. Although a while ago the prices were fairly cheap. I love packs like these as I like doing natural landscaping but always need huge quantities! These packs are perfect if doing small scale dioramas though and a pretty good price in the UK.

Just curious; what were you doing with 2000 leaves and 4000 plants?! 🙄

      • Håkan January 7, 2020, 3:13 PM

Probably a massive landscape, or something.

I was attempting to make a medieval scene based around a very high waterfall with a meadow and oak trees in the background. To get the trees to minifig scale and looking realistic I needed something like 400-500 leaves per tree (they were maybe 15″ high each or something. The stems were dotted everywhere.

The base area was something like 140×90 studs so lots of ground to cover. Sadly due to life getting in the way I never finished it and it’s still sat waiting to be either taken apart or finished off for over two years. Not sure which as I’ve hit an absolute rut creatively.

Hm… sounds like a great project! Maybe you will pick it up one day, or perhaps turn it into something else. This is the danger of big projects. They take a lot of time and planning, and life can get in the way. The longer you wait, the more you dread going back to the project. But when finished, they look awesome! 🙂

Agreed. I’ve taken down the cottage and changed a few areas but I really don’t want to abandon it as I’ve probably put in several hundred hours to the design and what I’ve built so far. Maybe it’s time I dig out the old brick link orders for what I need to finish it off!

Forgot to mention the waterfall took most of the time and is the part I’m most pleased with…

Waterfalls are amazing builds when done right! 😀

A little at a time! If you build it up into smaller projects, it will feel less overwhelming and more exciting to work on it. Have fun! 🙂

Ok this is great. I can get a few of the sports accessory packs and open up a sports store. The Botanical one looks great too that would go great for my Forest theme. You just can’t get enough of these. I got quite a few of the food accessories .I can open up a grocery store. Or give it to my campers when they go camping.

They should offer bigger boxes of such elements. Imagine a whole tub of plants or spaceship parts! 😀
