LEGO Ninjago: Prime Empire Preview Videos

LEGO Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu – Season 12, subtitled, Prime Empire, is set for release sometime in the first quarter of this year, and the first wave of the related LEGO Ninjago sets are already available. In addition, LEGO released a couple of 4-minute animated shorts, giving us the first glimpse into the story of the upcoming season. So, let’s take a look at what we know about Season 12 so far.

The setup for Season 12 is that when the old, legendary video-game, “Prime Empire”, resurfaces, players begin to disappear. In order to solve the mystery, the ninja must enter a dangerous digital world through arcade pod portals. They discover that the digital world is ruled by the mysterious villain, Emperor Unagami, who is assisted by his hoverboard-riding army called the Rat Pack. (You can see them in minifig form in the 2020 LEGO Ninjago sets).

As Jay is an avid gamer, it’s natural that he is the mascot of this season. After many hours of playing his favorite video games at the arcade, Jay takes a break with Nya to take dance lessons. Watch the LEGO Ninjago: Prime Empire – Let’s Dance! original short below to see what happens.

In the second short, titled LEGO Ninjago: Prime Empire – Upgrade! the infamous Mechanic is off on a crime spree with his henchmen on behalf of the mysterious villain, Emperor Unagami.

The LEGO Ninjago: Prime Empire sets are totally worth checking out too. There are eight regular sets: the #71706 LEGO Ninjago Cole’s Speeder Car, the #71707 LEGO Ninjago Kai’s Mech Jet ($19.99), the #71708 LEGO Ninjago Gamer’s Market ($29.99), the #71709 LEGO Ninjago Jay and Lloyd’s Velocity Racers ($29.99), the #71710 LEGO Ninjago Ninja Tuner Car ($39.99), the #71711 LEGO Ninjago Jay’s Cyber Dragon ($49.99), the #71712 LEGO Ninjago Empire Temple of Madness ($79.99), and #71713 LEGO Ninjago Empire Dragon ($29.99).

In addition, there are also three special Arcade Pods for Jay, Kai, and Lloyd used as portals to the digital world. Below, you can find reviews of some of the sets by JANGBRiCKS, and to see all the sets, visit the LEGO Ninjago section of the Online LEGO Shop.

As you can see, LEGO Ninjago is still going strong, and there are also further confirmed seasons for 2021 in celebration of Ninjago’s 10-year anniversary.

Oh, I plan on getting at least some of these sets. I’m still cutting back on my collection but, ninjago is one of themes I can’t miss. I’m thinking $ 40. And under. I think I will get a good ” byte” on this theme. I know I said this before but, I can’t see why nexo Knights can’t team up with this wave of ninjago. I mean they are both very futuristic.

This wave is actually going to be a great match for Nexo Knights. Both futuristic, just in a different way! 🙂

Interesting stuff. So they are using the pods to enter the game world? Now it makes sense whey they have tow minifigs.

SO looking forward to this season! It reminds me of season 3, Ninjago Rebooted. The Digiverse seems similar to the current setup.

It’s disappointing that the pods have stickers, but other than that, I like them. I haven’t decided on the other sets yet. Nothing really stands out except for the minifigs. The new suits are awesome, and I like the emperor’s hair! 😀

Are they going to release these episodes on dvd? I have been missing out on too much! I have the first few seasons dvds but then i’m not finding the later ones.

Next year is the 10th anniversary of Ninjago, so they may do some special releases. Not sure though. If I do hear something, we will definitely talk about it. 🙂

Ninjago certainly is able to reinvent itself with each year’s new sets and new television season. The “ninja” element isn’t even particularly relevant anymore, they just take the characters and toss them into whatever theme or setting they come up with. (Though given Naruto and what not, you could say pop culture has long since given up on ninja as anything other than shorthand for “people that fight a lot”.)

After Lego let Nexo Knights burn out with only one batch of sets (rather than the usual two) for its third year, and no continuation of the cartoon either, I suspect Ninjago is here for the long haul as the sole boys-oriented multimedia original Lego property.

I guess “Lego Leaf” might be something similar. With 18 planned sets for the year, one could at least surmise that Lego has expectations, although the theme’s exact shtick is still unknown.

Another hypothesis is that it could be a minidoll-based in-house action-adventure theme, similar to Elves.

I wonder if the Sweet Mayhem sets sold well enough for Lego to venture on a space/sci-fi theme, this time…

Hm… this is interesting. Right now mini-dolls are lacking a fantasy based line (besides Disney), so it could very well be a mini-doll based fantasy theme. But I have no idea. It’s the first time I heard of Leaf. I kinda like the name, whatever it is. 😀

      • admin January 15, 2020, 11:01 PM

        Wait a minute… what?! LEGO Leaf???!!! 🙄

        • Håkan January 16, 2020, 8:54 AM

It’s hypothetized to be a placeholder name. “Leaf” could imply a fantasy setting, or perhaps just mean that the placeholder name was conceived during fall…

    @admin

Hmmm, now I realize that the 7**** numbering scheme for the sets usually implies a minifig-based theme, while minidoll sets would have a 4**** system.

I wonder if it could be related to the The Fast and the Furious licence recently mentioned…
