Participate in Brickworld Virtual Today!

Brickworld is one of the largest and oldest LEGO conventions held each year at different cities around the U.S. While many LEGO conventions around the world have been canceled due to the current social distancing rules and lockdowns, Brickworld decided to try something new and different by holding a virtual convention, and the event is today! Before discussing the virtual event further, please note that Brickworld conventions scheduled for later this summer and fall are still on schedule, although it’s possible that they will have to be canceled or brought to a virtual platform as well. You can find upcoming events at Brickworld.com.

So, let’s discuss what’s happening today! Here is the description of Brickworld Virtual, scheduled for today, April 18th, 12 pm – 6 pm Eastern Time: “Sit the entire family in front of the monitor for an afternoon of fun! See live interactive feeds of spectacular creations all built from LEGO bricks by LEGO enthusiasts. We will do it all via Zoom meeting rooms. So, interactive means you can ask questions of the builders and get up close views of display aspects that interest you. These are not videos or slide shows of still photos. These are live displayers excited to show you their art just like at any other Brickworld show. You will be able to bounce between rooms to check out different displays, vendors, and even presentations! Only 1,000 tickets will be sold for this inaugural event. Get yours now so you don’t miss the fun!” General Admission (one device): $5.00. You can get tickets here: Brickworld.com/Brickworld-Virtual

Enjoy interactive display viewing. Buy your favorite LEGO sets, minifigures, and LEGO accessories from various vendors. And see presentations throughout the afternoon if you like. Below is the full schedule (all times are Eastern Time). Presenters with a LM next to their name are LEGO Masters finalists.

As there is a lot to do, I would suggest that you highlight the events you definitely want to participate in, and fill out the rest of the time with other events. Have fun!

What do you think? Are you going to participate in Brickworld Virtual? Which events you’re looking forward to the most? Would you like to have other virtual LEGO conventions in the future? Feel free to share and discuss in the comment section below!

It looks like their website is struggling with all the traffic. It took me a while to connect. Thanks for letting us know about this!

Am I too late? Can we still sign up?

For many of us that have never been able to attend (for whatever reasons) I think this is an awesome idea to get more attendance
Do they present new and upcoming items as well?

Joshua, I’m sorry, I missed this question before. This was a new event for everyone, so it was basically unfolding as it went. My understanding is that vendors who did presentation had very little information, and they could do as they saw it fit. I’m sure as people get more used to online presentations like this, it will become more clear what works what doesn’t. This is new frontier for everyone! 🙂

One comment to give as feedback for future events like this; post the time zone to each listed time.
I’m in MST in North America and before I go pay the $5 I just need to know if I’ve already missed most the events.

Joshua, all of the timings are EST, as mentioned in the article and on the Brickworld website. I do hope that you had the chance to participate in at least some of it. 🙂

I really enjoyed the presentations. And Zoom worked perfectly. I hope they will continue doing virtual conventions like this. I guess they may be forced to do it anyway if the virus stays longer.

It was fun! Youl could even browse from room to room if you wanted to move one from one presentation to another. I recommend doing these more often.

Missed it, I hope they stream other events.

It’s a possibility. This is from Brick World page. But not details yet on May 16 which would have been in Indianapolis.

“We ran a successful virtual event in March and have planned four more for the rest of the Brickworld 2020 season. These events will take place May 16, June 27, October 31 and December 12.”
