May 2020 – New LEGO Sets & Promotions

The biggest event happening in May is, of course, Star Wars Day. Star Wars Day is always on May the 4th, but since this year the event falls on this upcoming Monday, many retailers start their special events and promotions this weekend. Below, we will discuss the new sets and promotions LEGO is offering to Star Wars fans.

FREE LEGO STAR WARS SET: Between now and May 4th, you will get the free exclusive #40407 LEGO Star Wars Death Star II Battle set with purchases of $75 or more. It’s a 235-piece set depicting a micro-version of the Death Star II with a chubby little A-wing and TIE Interceptor. This offer is valid on all purchases at the Online LEGO Shop.

DOUBLE VIP POINTS ON LEGO STAR WARS SETS: Also until May 4th, you will earn Double VIP Points on LEGO Star Wars sets at the Online LEGO Shop.

SALE ON LEGO STAR WARS PRODUCTS: Some LEGO Star Wars sets and other products are on sale, which you can find at the Sales & Deals section of the Online LEGO Shop.

LEGO STAR WARS UCS A-WING AVAILABLE: The latest in the LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series collection, the #75275 LEGO Star Wars UCS A-wing Starfighter is now available. You can read all the details and watch the designer-video about this set in the press-release, and purchase it at the LEGO Star Wars section of the Online LEGO Shop.

LEGO STAR WARS BUILDABLE HELMETS: We already talked about the three LEGO Star Wars Helmets when they were first announced, but to recap, the collection includes the #75274 LEGO Star Wars TIE Fighter Pilot Helmet, #75276 LEGO Star Wars Stormtrooper Helmet, and #75277 LEGO Star Wars Boba Fett Helmet. The helmets are highly detailed replicas of the originals, and measure about 7” (18cm) high, 5” (13cm) wide and 5” (13cm) deep, with a base and nameplate. They are specifically meant for adult LEGO fans and collectors ages 18+. They each come with about 650 pieces and priced at $59.99. You can find them at the LEGO Star Wars section of the Online LEGO Shop.

LEGO STAR WARS D-O BUILDABLE DROID: The cute #75278 LEGO Star Wars D-O buildable droid follows in the footsteps of the previously released #10225 LEGO Star Wars R2-D2 (from 2012) and the #75187 LEGO Star Wars BB-8 (from 2017) buildable droids. It comes with poseable antennas and its head tilts and rotates 360 degrees. A built-in display-stand, an information sign, and a minifig-scale D-O droid are also included. The buildable droid measures 10.5” (27cm) high, 4” (10cm) wide and 6” (16cm) deep, and comes with 519 pieces. The price is $69.99. If you already have the other two buildable droids, D-O would be a great addition to complete the iconic trio. You can find the set at the LEGO Star Wars section of the Online LEGO Shop.

LEGO TECHNIC FAST & FURIOUS DODGE CHARGER: The #42111 LEGO Technic Dom’s Dodge Charger was released a few days ago, but it’s worth mentioning again. All the information is in the press-release, but to recap, this set is a 1,077-piece replica of fearless street racer Dominic Toretto’s legendary 1970 Dodge Charger R/T. It measures 15” (39cm) long, 6” (16cm) wide and 4” (11cm) high, and includes authentic features like moving pistons, suspension, steering system, air blower, and display stand. The price is $99.99, and it’s available at the LEGO Technic section of the Online LEGO Shop.

LEGO MINIONS SETS AVAILABLE: The new LEGO Minions collection is now available. Most of the sets are in the LEGO 4+ range to accommodate younger kids, but some of them could be interesting to adult collectors as well. Sets include the #75546 LEGO Minions in Gru’s Lab, the #75547 LEGO Minions Pilot in Training, the #75549 LEGO Minions Unstoppable Bike Chase, the #75550 LEGO Minions Kung Fu Battle, and the #75551 LEGO Brick-Built Minions and Their Lair. You can find them at the LEGO Minions section of the Online LEGO Shop.

LEGO stores are still currently closed, so the only way to purchase LEGO sets is either at local retailers (if they are open) or online. The Amazon LEGO Shop usually have good prices on older sets, and for the latest releases check the Online LEGO Shop.

I guess all the Star Wars events are canceled? And I also heard that the San Dego Comic Con is canceled. 🙁

Not a single Star Wars set on sale. Maybe remove that falsehood from this post?

Kevin, that Star Wars sets will be on sale during the May the 4th promotion is directly from LEGO’s own advertisement materials that we received beforehand. My guess is that this will be a flash-sale type of thing, where they offer different sets on sale during the four-day event, which is something they have done before. Or, it’s also possible that they will only offer items on sale directly on the 4th. Details on this were not explicitly stated. I do see that right now (Saturday morning), they only have some SW keychains on sale. Let’s hope this will improve by the 4th and the Force will be with us! 😀

Folks have to order it online because the stores are closed. So it will take a little while before people can review it. But look on youtube.
