LEGO World Builder – Design Opportunities

There are a couple of new opportunities on LEGO World Builder that I thought some of you may want to take advantage of. If you are not familiar with LEGO World Builder, you can read more about the platform via the links at the end of this post. In brief, LEGO World Builder is similar to LEGO Ideas, but instead of submitting ideas for potential future LEGO sets, it’s for submitting ideas for new LEGO entertainment content like web series, TV series, or even a full movie with product tie-ins, etc.

LEGO World Builder creators can post their own ideas and work with others to create the best content. At the same time, LEGO regularly monitors the platform for potential collaborations, and they occasionally also put out creative prompts and design opportunities. This means that they provide the topic, and they ask the LEGO World Builder community to develop the content. It’s similar to some of the LEGO Ideas contests where the winning project may get turned into a LEGO gift with purchase set or something similar. These opportunities are pretty exciting as it gives creative LEGO fans direct access to the LEGO creative team to collaborate on original stories, shows, and more. Currently, there are two such projects you can take on. Below are the details.

Build Your Own Marvel Mech-Inspired Worlds! – Creators, it’s time to suit up for your next adventure on LEGO World Builder! LEGO just launched a new creative prompt searching for Marvel-inspired worlds that incorporate the power of the Mech. When Captain America needs that extra boost, he trades his signature shield and jumps into his Mech cockpit. The mighty Thor is even mightier when he faces off against the most frightening enemies in his Mech Mjolnir. And Miles Morales ups his game with his Mech-generated electro-shock webs. LEGO invites you to create short story worlds that highlight the special capabilities of these high-powered suits! If you’re interested, visit this page: LEGO WORLD BUILDER – MARVEL CREATIVE PROMPT

Expand the LEGO World Builder Digital Library! – Women make the (LEGO) world go round! Calling all graphic designers, artists, photographers, and doodlers! Now is your chance to immortalize some of the world’s most iconic women on the LEGO World Builder platform with original banner images celebrating Women’s History Month. Earn $250 for each of your banners that’s selected to become a permanent part of the image library. The deadline for this project is February 28th. For more details on this design opportunity, visit this page: LEGO WORLD BUILDER – BANNER IMAGE DESIGN PROJECT

Also, remember that LEGO World Builder is full of interesting projects created by LEGO fans and other talented creators. Even if you don’t have an idea on your own, you might be able to contribute to some of the projects, so look around and see if anything catches your interest.

What do you think? Are you planning to participate in either of these opportunities? Feel free to share and discuss in the comment section below! And if you know someone else who might be interested, feel free to share with them as well.

Hmm, I kinda find all these Marvel mechs a slightly limited concept. I guess I’m not feeling creative enough to go through this for now…

The answer to that is always to build a bigger mech! 😀

We do need better Marvel sets, so I hope something good will come out of this.

It’s confusing to me how you work with others. Do you have to accept their contributions? And how do they know what you need?

      Story of my life!

The original creator of a project (they call them the architect) can request help with certain aspects of their project. People can contribute, and if the architect accepts a contribution, it becomes part of the project. They don’t have to accept everything. At least that’s what I remember reading.

Lego has TV shows?! Which broadcast network? I have roof top antenna for watching television and I don’t pay for online shows. Is this available to watch on a free service? I’ve been building since the sixties and never once saw anything indicating Ninjago or any other Lego brand having a movie or show. I am not trolling, this is a legitimate hole in my understanding of what Lego has to offer. Where do they advertise these shows? I know they had a movie once for Lego in general but my understanding was that it targeted children and not adults. Are there any other movies?

These days, most of them are on cartoon network, but the episodes are often posted on lego’s youtube channel at a later date.

If you’re talking about The Lego Movie, that was both for adults and kids. In fact, I think older fans got more out of it than kids because it referenced many of the classic themes and characters. There were three other theatrical releases, The Lego Batman Movie, The Lego Ninjago Movie, and The Lego Movie Second Part.

Like j,j, said, animated shorts, and other shorter movies are either on Cartoon Network, or Lego’s youtube channel or on the Lego website. Also, sometimes other channels post them on youtube. If you know their titles, you should be able to find them. You can find a list of Lego film titles on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Lego_films_and_TV_series

It’s an interesting concept, and it could use a bit more publicity. It seems like really new concepts (other than Marvel and the like) are getting little attention.
